For starters, this week-long visit resulted from an Interval timeshare exchange that required us to purchase the all-inclusive meal & entertainment package. Pros: Good location, clean property & spacious rooms, bath toiletries plentiful, long, walkable beach & calm, clean water for swimming, walking distance to local restaurants, ability to “dine-around” at two of them, complimentary “couples massage “ at Spa, omelette station at Hi Tides at breakfast. Cons: Service at every turn - towel hut, restaurants, room - was inconsistent and sometimes intolerable. We retained our beach towels for most of the week because of this. We walked out of dinner after sitting for 25 minutes, seemingly unnoticed that we should be offered the dessert menu. Coffee got promised at breakfast but then we had to hunt down someone after again waiting 15 minutes. Please appreciate that we got used to the slow service early in our week-long stay so we tried to be super-tolerant of the waits. A handful of employees are genuinely helpful and pleasant, but many seemed unhappy to be there. The general vibe around the pool, bar area & restaurants was not helped by canned or live music that was provided. Bar drinks are generally of the “sweet” variety, diluted & made with few top shelf liquors. “Day pass” guests crowd the facilities at times. Management allows guests to “claim” lounges on beach & poolside by placing towels & other stuff there early in the day, even though the guests are often not there. This creates a shortage of lounges for those who arrive later. Many dishes at the restaurants are pork- or chicken-based; other than burgers beef is not offered. One of the advertised “lobster specials (with up charge) was never available. We ordered the other one at SeaGrapes, & for “Surf ‘n Turf” received a burnt CHICKEN drumstick & half of a grilled, small lobster tail. Water pressure in rooms and public restrooms was absent at random, (usually) morning times most days, resulting in an inability to take a shower or, especially, flush toilets (yuk). Our takeaway: having visited other Caribbean islands with numerous, lovely beaches & things to do, we’ll focus on those which allow us to be more in control of our accommodations, restaurants and experiences.
