Pretty location-good value

We stayed for 7 nights late August. We were concerned about potential bad weather, but it was beautiful every day. Overall this was nice resort, great value. It is located in a beautiful cove, the water was calm and the color was outstanding. We chose the all inclusive option but you need to know there is one big con with this option. The con is, every drink or food you order you will receive a check. Wait what?? Didn't I say I chose the all inclusive, I did not mistype. This was ridiculous, this made you feel like you MUST tip 15-20% on every time you ordered anything!! I have been to several all inclusive resorts in the past, I have always tipped on top of what I already paid for, in my all inclusive package. That is the luxury of all inclusive, you pay for gratuity ahead of time. This made me so uncomfortable, my husband was so mad at me by the end of the trip, because I was over tipping everywhere we went. When you plan a vacation, most people have a budget, you don't expect to go over that budget by several hundred dollars, so just beware. AND I heard, if you don't tip, the staff remembers you and they will treat you poorly. I am sorry management, you need to do better. You ask for these reviews, I have read so many, I am not the only person complaining about this. You have to make some changes. Also, you get mixed answers when it comes to what is considered under the "all inclusive". I would go to one bar or restaurant and order a drink with no problem, then go to another and be told, NO that is not under the all inclusive plan. I was embarrassed and never new if I was going to be told NO loudly for all to hear. Check in: When we first arrived, I was a bit nervous because it seemed very chaotic. To my surprise, I only waited about 10 minutes and Shandrin and Eline (I hope I have their names correct) helped check us in, they were both so amazing! We weren't happy with our room, lower level beach side room. I found these rooms to be dated, bugs and have a stale smell to them. The lovely ladies they were get Edrick take us to the ocean tower rooms to see if we would be happier there. And these rooms were beautiful. Edrick was so kind and friendly. Restaurants: We loved Pure Ocean for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast needs a little work. They pre-cook the french toast and pancakes and left under a hot light, that does not keep anything warm. I tried more than once and just ended up wasting the food, couldn't eat it. Mimi greeted us everyday with a smile, she is wonderful. Amanda was our waitress several days, loved her. Dinner we had Sheanah twice and a young gentleman, I totally forgot his name , they were both wonderful. Seabreeze was ok, we weren't blown away by the food for dinner, we did have lunch there one day, not bad. The bartender Stephen was fun. Gizmos was great for lunch, they serve the best burgers. Rosa was great and Pierre was awesome behind the bar. Swim up bar: Jai was always happy to see a customer, wish I could say the same about Sandy. He just never seemed happy. The shack was ok, my taco meat was very dry, so we went over to the pizza place and ordered a pie, not bad. Pools, I understand its summer, but they were so HOT. Not refreshing at all. Beach could use some clean up on a daily, it just looked dirty every day. The beach service for chairs and umbrellas was wonderful. You can't get a beach towel before 9am. My husband used the gym, he said it was good, I went to the spa, I had a wonderful massage. The only way I would return or recommend this resort is if they take away the check signing.

Overall nice resort, great staff, maintenance levels lower than expected, low season amenities close alternately leaving fewer choices available
