Will not go back. The changes within a 4 month span were unbelievable. In 2017 had a fantastic time, in December 2022 due to health reasons not so great, December 2023 tried it again and it was good. Bringing 2 more couples and booking bungalows at a higher cost then the hotel rooms get there and find out an Italian group that have taken over the 2017 buffet area, and have a bar stand at the end of the second boardwalk to the beach have special privileges. Even though it is an all inclusive resort, it was NOT all inclusive. Since their buffet area was under repair, we were not allowed to eat indoors at the a la carte Milanos. The staff changes are not to the better. In December there were questionnaires being handed out and the common theme of the group of us was do not change the Cuban friendliness. Well it sure has been disappearing in 4 months. Asked for a coffee maker, well we are home and never got one. Put in a special assistance request for a lower bungalow as I use a cane an cannot climb the stairs to an upper bungalow, it took one of our family members to trade there lower unit for ours. Water on floor from behind toilet as well as when you showered. The day before we were to leave, no drinking water given, no housekeeping of any sort. It was truly disappointing. The theme this time when talking with repeat patrons, the Starfish Varadero is very disappointing and we are not the only ones making a change.
Wonderful time at our second home

Another awesome time at our second home. There were a few shortages but nothing that couldn't be over looked. Lots to eat never went hungry eggs every morning and pork chicken fish and calamari and mussels a few days. As always Jo and Isabel at the beach bar were fabulous. Missed our lobby bar girl Ysel as she was on vacation but the others did an awesome job. Rocky arrange a taxi and excellent dinner in town for wife's birthday he is a great guy and always checking if things are good. Got to meet Alfredo from customer service he always checking if we needed anything and were having a good time he is very funny and a great asset if you need anything. Resort is big lots of walking so little hard as getting older and mobility is limited but if you need help staff always willing to help. Stayed in bungalows and our maid was great nice towel art and always water and tp. This was our 5th time as we love the staff and Jo Ysel and Rocky have always remembered us and deserve great respect for all they do thanks for making us feel like family.
