Wonderful birthday week!

Jean S (St. Pete Beach, Florida) on May 04, 2024

Fantastic trip. We went for my husband’s birthday. We were greeted by Orlando and were offered a cocktail. Celine at check in was very friendly and gave us a very clean room with an ocean view near the lobby, restaurants, the coffee shop and pool. The beach bag given out is a nice touch. We ate at the Rainbow Garden, Docksider Buffet, and 11-Eleven. All had healthy choices. We mostly had breakfast and lunch at Rainbow Gardens because it was the closest. Food was good everywhere. I started each day visiting the coffee shop for my morning latte and chocolate croissant. I can’t remember all the baristas names but always well done. We wore mosquito repellent in the evening for the no see ums and mosquitos. Only a couple got us. Charlene and Peter at guest relations were very happy and fun to joke with. Christine at the reef bar was especially talented with our drinks. Activities worked for us. We stayed on site the whole trip. Very peaceful holiday and will come again! Highly recommended.

Lovely Place

631SuW (Port Talbot, United Kingdom) on May 03, 2024

Just come back from a lovely relaxing week at this friendly, happy resort. We had a beach front room which led directly onto beach. The decor seems tired but it is clean & cool with fan & air-con which was much needed! We had a problem with bath which leaked when we used showered, we were offered a change of room but that room was further away from main pool & reception area and seemed darker so we chose to stay put and used towels! The Resort charge of 24 USD per day on top of the 10 USD Tourist Tax seems excessive especially as rooms are not cleaned each day. The choice of restaurants is good & it was fun deciding where we would eat each day. The omelette station at breakfast n the Rainbow Room became our go-to ! We spent most of our time at Reef Deck Pool - I enjoyed the daily aqua aerobics (thank you Stephen!) & Cresseida always had a warm welcome for us at the pool bar. Chad introduced us to a range of cocktails at 11/11 & then again at The Jakarandah Lounge - very refreshing! The bands at The Docksider were a bit hit & miss although The Blaze Band were great & had everyone including staff up and dancing! We also enjoyed the liquer coffees at the Coffee Bar as well as our daily fix of their tasty banana bread. We treated ourselves to treatments at the Tranquility Spa - expensive but so relaxing. We had read about the sargassum problem before arriving but Coco beach where we were was cleaned every morning & there was no smell. All the staff were so friendly, they helped to make the holiday a lovely treat.

A few negatives but very beautiful

Boomies3 (Palm - Eagle Beach, Aruba) on Apr 28, 2024

St. James Club has stunning views and beautifully kept grounds. The weather was perfect and the ocean water was warm and clear. We had a beachfront room which was quite big but in desperate need of a renovation. It had 2 full beds that were very small. My daughter and I shared (both small people) and sleeping was uncomfortable. The bathroom faucet had extremely low water pressure and was old and rusted. The bathroom was very big however and had a huge bathtub. The view and access to the beach made up for most of the negatives. The staff was generally pleasant but service was painfully slow at times. The huge negative was the food. It was awful. Breakfast was decent but lunch and dinner were a struggle. It looked pretty but everything was watered down. Also the cups and glasses were miniature. The food was mostly Caribbean style so if you are not a fan of jerk chicken, goat curry, and lamb stew you may have an issue. Salad and dessert was fine but we struggled finding a satisfactory main meal. I had a similar experience once before with all inclusive resorts. Unfortunately itself not cheap and if you are like me and don’t drink you are on the losing end. We took a trip to stingray city and to a tortoise sanctuary and it was a great trip. Shirley Heights also had beautiful sunset and was not far from the resort. It was not crowded and we spent most days on Cocoa Beach which was steps away from our room. The pools were nice and well maintained. The fitness center needs an upgrade as well but it was good enough. I did have a very nice stay despite the food and the island is just so beautiful.

Fantastic Holiday

Cinderella53 (Surrey, UK) on Apr 28, 2024

We absolutely love this resort. This was actually our 9th visit. Previously we had always travelled with our children and family, however, this time we decided to go as a couple. Our 20 & 18 year old both would've loved to have come along with us, so that in itself speaks volumes. They both have fabulous memories of the St James Club. We wondered if it would still be as good because our last visit had been pre covid. We weren't disappointed. On arrival we were upgraded to a Reef room which had a full sea view overlooking the Atlantic side. Stunning view and good sized spacious room. Food was great with plenty of choice, plus there are plenty of restaurant options. Docksiders is our favourite as the setting in the evening is beautiful, but we also had a wonderful meal at the Rainbow Restaurant. The all inclusive drinks were good too. This time we went outside of school holiday time so it was much quieter. The beach on the Mamora Bay side is stunning. Staff are all friendly and helpful. A few familiar faces and it was great to see the lovely Tryphina still there. Shame Alfred isn't there anymore offering drinks from the beach buggy, however, the Mamora bay bar is great for grabbing a cold drink throughout the day. Would love to return next year.

Easy to make a good holiday great!

nickylukecol (Bexleyheath, United Kingdom) on Apr 28, 2024

The club upon entering seems to be massive but actually nothing is more than a few minutes walk away. We had a reef view room which was brilliant. Crystal blue waters overlooking Coco Beach on the Atlantic side so little windy. Room was very large with good air-conditioning. Some things were a little dated, but overall we felt the room was a good standard. Really large shower and double sinks. Hotel has plenty of options for food. Pools were great the beach around the Bay was absolutely beautiful and protected from the wind. Good all inclusive drinks including premium brands. Excellent selection of nonmotorised watersports.
