We chose Beaches Negril since we have two young children. After all is said and done, I can't give them more than 3/5. For the very high prices they charge, you should get a lot more than you do. Many of the staff were nice, but service was about average. HIGHS: Check-in was perhaps the smoothest and nicest of any hotel I've been to, although we did pay extra for a concierge room, so this was expected. Kids camp (free daycare) was very good. The staff there are attentive to the kids and mine always had a great time. The snorkeling (via boat) was great. Tons of different corals and fish to see. I wish I had done this more and skipped SNUBA ($90/person I think) LOWS: Waiting time to be seated at any of the restaurants was terrible. Expect to wait at least 5 minutes for the manager to seat you (usually more like 10) even if you are the first in line. This is with numerous open tables. I get waiting when there is nowhere to be seated. I don't know why they can't be better at this? Service once seated was also very slow. The portions are very small, so order more than you normally do. I had two occasions where we ordered a second time (once when my daughter was picky and didn't want anything, then changed her mind, and once when we ordered sushi and realized the 4pc/roll was much less than normal restaurants). On each occasion the order either never came out or took more than 30 minutes. Pancakes or nigiri sushi shouldn't take 30 minutes+. The rooms were not luxurious. The beds were very hard and the bathrooms were nothing special. Again, for the price, I expect a nicer bed and bathroom. The TV was also awful. I'm being generous guessing it was 480p. Not a huge deal, but $1,000/night hotels should have better. Some of the staff did little or nothing to accommodate simple requests. Any of the boating options (glass bottom, scuba, snuba, snorkeling) require reservations. I understand this. On our last day, we were heading to take a hobie cat out for a sail and my young son decided he really wanted to go on the glass bottom boat. They were leaving in 5 minutes so I went up to the staff and asked can we get on the boat. They stuck to the reservation requirement and said no. HERE'S the thing, there were two people on board and no more coming. They left with two people. The boat can hold 15-20. Four more people would have been no burden. It's little things like this that takes this resort down. For what you pay, they should be much more accommodating. Some of the staff also try to take advantage of guests. They were peddling a "private" boat ride to Rick's Cafe. Price? $500. A 15 minute cab ride is $10 and the driver will wait for you until you're ready to return to the hotel. This is not the random huckster that walks by you on the beach. This was the paid staff at the hotel. If the hotel had anything to do with this scam, it's even worse. In short, if you have never been to an all-inclusive resort and don't know what to expect, you may like it here. If you have been to any of the luxury all-inclusives in places like Cancun, you will likely be disappointed. Dollar for dollar, you get much better service, amenities, and accommodating staff in Cancun. We are going to try Beaches again, but next time we will go to Turks and Caicos which is supposed to be better than Negril. If T&C lets us down, we are done with the Beaches / Sandals brand.

We just returned from Beaches Negril with our two kids (6 and 10). We arrived on Thanksgiving day and had the best welcoming. All the staff wants to make it the best experience they can and they did that. No matter what you were doing if you were pool side in a restaurant or just walking around the beautiful resort the staff would ask how we were and if there was anything we needed. We ate meals at most of the restaurants and enjoyed all of them. The waiters and waitresses were sure to interact with our kids and made them feel so welcomed. Our room we stayed in was a two bedroom walk out first floor room with a view of what was the miniature golf course (mini golf had just been removed). The room was very nice a very clean. The cleaning staff made the room perfect everyday. Our kids were not ready to leave on the last day (6 day stay). We promised them we would be back next year. Our overall stay was top notch and we could have asked for more. It was a very relaxing stay. We will be back in 2020.

We’re currently here and honestly we are not impressed at all. If your kids are older than 5 then this is not for you. The waterpark will entertain them for a day... and the kids club for the 5-7 age has baby toys.... play kitchen... 5 year old boys are definitely not into that! When doing activities with the drop off camp program there is a lot of “waiting around”. And at one point they had about 10 babies crying seeming the smaller kids playroom was very understaffed. They had an Xbox competition yesterday and has 2 kids playing while 8 waited around instead of having the eight other kids play on the other Xbox which was right there, it was just very bizarre then they did another activity and all the kids stood around and watched a volcano erupt with baking soda instead of making their own. These are five-year-old children they need to be kept entertained we’ve been here now five days and the camp has not taken them to the pool once. We have opted not to send our kids to the camp and with that there is nothing for them to do there is a DJ at the pool but no games no entertainment no activity just a DJ. Mornings have sesame things and night shows as well but sesame DOESNT entertain a 5 year old boy aside from the fact that it’s basically the same skit with different songs every night. The staff is amazingly nice. I paid for an all inclusive experience and now have to work to entertain two kids all day. I sadly wish we were leaving today but we are more or less stuck here 2 more days... Luckily the weather is nice but it’s far from a relaxing or entertaining trip.

Great for young kids. Don't have expectations otherwise.

The great: Kids love the water slides, park and pools. They love the limitless frozen yogurt. The good; Location is wonderful on the best beach in the best city on the island. The bad; buffet is of poor quality food. The scheduled events are rarely on time. The waterfront staff acts as if bothered. Rooms are noisy as the bathrooms have a permanent open air vent where you hear everything from outside. Toxic bug fog machine comes through with little regard for humans. Ran out of towels at times. If you don't have kids with you, this is not the place. With kids, they will have a blast as long as you remind yourself continuously it's for them.
