My husband and I spent two weeks at this hotel a few years back and returned for two weeks in April. We enjoy the adults only side with the options of going to the family side to dine at the a la carte restaurants. All restaurants are good and fairly easy to book. Our favourite is the French on the family side and Paradise on the adult side. The Adult buffet has a good variety with a theme every evening. A little known option is to order from an a la carte menu at the buffet and you can also get a capuccino for breakfast. The staff are very attentive and on a few mornings when I left early to attend off site activities, my husband was very well looked after. The rooms have all we need, including a mini fridge with water and soft drinks topped up daily, and the rooms are cleaned well and punctually. Being second time guests we had a Casa Malkowski sign at our front door for a personal touch. The gym is decent and the clay tennis courts are looked after very well. The location is very central being walking distance to the marine terminal, Walmart, Flea Market, easy bus ride downtown and easy bus ride to the Melia for Pickleball Vallarta We will be returning at the end of November for our third visit and look forward to checking out the roof top pool. Hasta luego.

What a wonderful week. A week is not long enough to enjoy this hotel and it’s offering. A short ride from the airport, this resort is an excellent value for your money. All the staff are warm and welcoming fro the moment of our arrival. It’s always great to start off the vacay with a drink as we checked in. Check in was quick and easy. Our room was on the fifth floor with an ocean view. We could see up and down the beach. The room was clean and presented nicely. The room is a standard size with a king size bed. Plenty of closet space to hang up clothes and hide away suitcases. There is a digital safe large enough to hold a small laptop and room for more if needed. Our deck had a great view of the beach and the ocean. We were above the beach bar. We could hear music playing, but never bothered us. The bathroom was a large tub and plenty of counter space. The new roof top pool and bar is a great place to hang out enjoy the view. We spent some time up there. The water is great and one can sit and watch the bay and the marina. The main pool is fun we would sit on the covered side read ya book and dip in the pool. Activities happen through out the day. Water exercise, water polo & bingo. The resort has seven a la carte restaurants as well as two buffet restaurants. If you stay on the golden side you get to use any restaurant and bars at both the Golden as well as the Club side (family resort). For breakfast we preferred the family resort buffet. It offered a bit more selection. The a la carte restaurants offer top quality dining experiences. The meals rival some of the best experiences on cruise ships & fine dinning restaurants. My favourite was Salvador’s. Our night at Paradise was awesome. The restaurant manager came to take our order. I had the Lamb last time we stayed at this resort so I asked what would he choose , the chicken or the lamb. He said he would bring me half & half. When the meal arrived I got two full servings. Wow. Everyone is friendly, warm & genuine. We can’t wait to go back. We are planned a family holiday with my sisters family and our parents. This is not a 5 star resort. Don’t get me wrong, I love the place and will go back in a heart beat. Some of the fit and finish of the resort could use an up keep and maintenance. Hasta luego.

Will NOT stay at this "Resort" again

This was my second time staying at the Crown Paradise Golden and we returned because the first stay was enjoyable. However, I will not be giving this "Resort" anymore of my hard earned money for the following reasons: NEGATIVES: Food: TERRIBLE. TERRIBLE. TERRIBLE. I physically got nauseous and lost my appetite every time we would approach the buffet to see what they had. I watched an employee attempt to fight off probably 25 bees from a bread basket that they were swarming. The buffet area is located outside and they have nothing to protect the food except a piece of plastic that sits about a half a foot above the food. There were flies and bees constantly landing and hanging out on food that sits out in 90 degree heat for hours at a time, which is a health concern and unsanitary. This was a daily occurrence. We never once ate anything from the buffet in our 7 day stay for fear of getting sick. We ended up ordering room service for all of our "meals" and the quality of the food we did manage to eat was also TERRIBLE. After trying almost every option on the room service menu in an effort to find something halfway decent to eat, I finally decided to just order pasta with butter/parmesan and I ate that for nearly 5 days straight (pretty hard to screw that up, right?). The was the first vacation in my entire life that I came back home weighing less than I did before I left. Room Service: There was one occasion during our stay that we placed an order for room service and after waiting an hour for them to arrive, I called them back only to find out they never entered our order. Room Service was generally pretty quick otherwise. Rooms: The rooms need a little TLC as this is an older resort. The shower pressure was horrible and the drain didn't work very well so the water backed up in the tub halfway to my knees. The handle on the toilet stopped working 2 days into our stay so we just left the top off the tank and had to manually flush which was annoying. We did not report the issues because we had already settled in and did not want to have to re-pack and change rooms. The beds were very comfortable but the sheets stayed damp (along with everything else in the room) from all of the moisture. Our air conditioner worked just fine and we had no issues with that. There is also a safe in the room which is a nice feature. Room Keys: We were staying on the top floor in an ocean front room. We had to go down to the lobby every day, sometimes multiple times, to have our room keys reactivated which was super inconvenient. I was told this issue was due to the keys being too close to a cell phone, however I never had my cell phone in close proximity to the room keys. Alcohol: The drinks were tasty but you could drink all day long and feel like you hadn't drank anything. I would suggest ordering a "double" if you want a normal strength drink. Bottled Water: They used to offer bottled water at all of the bars and buffet upon request, not anymore. You get 2 bottled waters stocked in your mini-fridge every morning and that is it. Once we got through drinking the bottled water, I had to go down to the bar with the empty bottle and have them fill it up. I was told by our travel agent that the water from the bars in the resorts is purified and safe to drink, however it tasted terrible. I probably had to make 4 trips a day down to the bar just to get them to fill up my water bottle which was inconvenient and is SUPER CHEAP of the resort to not offer unlimited bottled water to their guests..especially in a Country that is known to have issues with their drinking water. Beach Chairs/Beds: The loungers on the beach need to be replaced. There were several days that they weren't even put out by the staff and remained stacked so we had to drag them out ourselves. This wasn't a huge deal, but I would have expected them to be out and ready for guests to use. The beach beds are another story. During our stay they would only put sheets on some of the beds which were taken up quickly and the remaining beds just had dirty plastic wrapped over the mattresses and were unusable. Beach Vendors: I understand these vendors are only trying to make a living and I am sympathetic to that. It doesn't matter if you are trying to relax, take a nap, etc., they will approach you every min or two trying to sell you something. There were several times where the vendors were lined up to come and try to sell you something. It was CONSTANT and hard to relax. A lot of vendors will also stand right at the edge of the beach-side bar and yell to get your attention while your trying to have a conversation, eat, drink, etc. which was very annoying to say the least. The resort has ropes up but security does not enforce any boundaries which is unfortunate. POSITIVES: Staff: The staff were very friendly and helpful. I did not have any issues with getting things quickly. The bartenders were all super nice and seemed to really enjoy their jobs. Spa: This was the BEST part about this place. I got an hour massage with Dahlia and she was AMAZING. The Spa itself is beautiful, all of the staff were wonderful, and the prices were very fair. Location: Great location. It is a very short drive to the airport and within short walking distance to the Port where a lot of the maritime excursions leave out from. Long story short, I hope this review is helpful for others who may consider staying at this "resort". My experience at the Crown Paradise Golden was overall very disappointing and I would not recommend staying here. Put your money towards another resort where the food is actually edible and you don't get charged 70 pesos for bottled water if you go over your two bottle limit per day.
