We just spent 5 days at The Level - Melia Punta Cana Beach and had an overall great time there. Luckily I took the time to read the reviews prior to picking our resort and recognized the importance of upgrading to "The Level" package when initially booking my reservation. Pros - Check in was incredibly simple for the Level. Jorge was assigned as our personal Concierge and did an absolutely amazing job for us. Our original room was upstairs and faced away from the ocean and after about 5 minutes, Jorge was able to get us switched to a first floor room that faced the pools/ocean. He was also very helpful in securing me a last minute golf tee-time late one afternoon (the last slot of the day). Went out of his way to secure me transport with my clubs from my room to the lobby each day and made sure they got us back as well. The room (Level Garden Suite) was fantastic and looked even better in person than it did on the internet. The pools were great and the pool bar was never so busy that we had to wait for a drink very long. Spent 3 afternoons on the beach and had a very relaxing time each day. There is a little seaweed on the sand, but not enough to worry about. Beach/Pool cabanas are plentiful and free and very comfortable Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner at Rumba were pretty good. Always tried to get something freshly cooked (omelet, paella, grilled steak, etc) vs the buffet dishes La Hacienda Tex - Mex was good Drinks - Good overall, but make sure you ask for premium liquor in your drink if you want it (and watch them when they pour) Cons - The Resort is massive so it does take some time to get from place to place. That being said, the shuttle service is very consistent and timely. Never waited long to get one No waiter service on the beach or around the pool. If you want another drink or a snack, you need to get it yourself (we solved this by staying closer to the bar) Food at Casa Nostra and Mosaic was sub par at best. For the VIP area, Quimera wasn't satisfactory at all, understaffed, slow service and so-so food. Lack of evening entertainment was disappointing. Seemed like there was nothing planned for the Adults Only areas after 7pm -- very lame indeed.

My husband and I have just returned from our trip to the Melia Punta Cana, and I have nothing but good things to say about our experience. First off when we arrived we upgraded to “The Level” services... which you can do and not have to do the level room If you choose not to, I might add we still upgraded our room to pool/ocean view but not a level room. We were extremely happy with our room, the beds were super comfortable, everything we needed was there and our maid was fabulous at replacing anything that needed changed everyday. We also had whatever we requested more of like beer and water! She noticed we used the coffee everyday and added more packets in the room! The shower was good, everything was clean and it smelled clean. The food: By upgrading to the Level services you get all access to any restaurant in both sides of the resort, except the Hakkaido (Japanese) you only pay $25 /person, so we did that and it was sooooo good but way too much food for us!! We tried The Italian, The American Grill, and ended up doing these 2x each as we really liked it there. Sometimes when we didn’t feel like going too far we ate at the Level restaurant and everything there is cooked fresh right off a menu for breakfast, lunch and supper! We thoroughly enjoyed having that perk! The main buffet was ok you can always find something to eat there if you just want a quick bite to eat. The Service and People: I can’t say enough good here about this! I have read that people have had bad service but this certainly was not the case for us! The staff here went overboard for us in so many ways, but I may add that we treated them well too. This does not mean just tipping, I mean just being a nice friendly caring and considerate person. Being kind and compassionate gets you pretty far in how you get treated. We ended up getting to know the staff who served us and they all knew us by name too. This is what helped make our trip so enjoyable. We were treated like family. ?? From our concierge Fraulin Cedano who aims so hard to please, he came to every need,to our “coffee man” Francisco who works so hard but he always had a smile! Sofia and Jose at the Level bar ( we miss you both already) ??Oscar Polanco who drove us around when we went to Dinners and you added so much laughs it was a highlight of the nights for us! ?? Ysemel by the pool, Genaro at the beach, Deiby at the front desk and everyone at the 2nd floor Level conceirge “Thank you” from the bottom of our hearts!! We appreciate all you have done for us during our stay!! You guys are what made the stay so enjoyable. The Beach: The view and color of the water is so pretty! You can walk out pretty far before it gets too deep and still see your toes!! The sand is like powder, never a problem getting chairs, we spent almost everyday here. There’s lots to see and with the boats next door there’s always music pumping and people going out for rides! The only complaint I have about this whole place is the peddlers on the beach asking you to buy things so many times it’s annoying so you have to tell them straight that you already have it or just plain “No”. The Pool: The Level pool is always clean and the water is actually warm but it gets pretty hot up there with not a whole lot of breeze if you like that! The main pool is a little more cold with the swim up, I can’t comment much about it because I didn’t spend time here as we came for the beach ?? In its entirety we would definitely 100% go back! Planning it now!! Don’t hesitate to book this place you won’t be disappointed! Food, service, clean rooms, comfortable beds, clean resort, what else can I say.... Paradise!! ??????

    Our beautiful and legendary wedding

Where do I start... this is our 5th time at Melia Hotels in Punta Cana. They have separated the resort to an adults only (Punta Cana Beach) and family side (Melia Caribe). We have always stayed at the adults only and we have opted to do “the level” every single time. It is amazing to say the least. We just had our wedding here and the staff went out of their way to make it amazing. Ok, I’ll start with the only thing that can be improved... and is in the works from what I’ve heard. The old “the level adults only,” the rooms were brand new. The bottom floors had a gazebo the top rooms had jacuzzi. Now that they have expanded either the family or adults only... the rooms for the level adults only are refurbished but not those once amazing rooms that they usually were. With that being said.. the staff did everything beyond the necessary to make us happy. At first they confused our rooms reservations with another which is understandable since we booked many rooms with our name. They later changed our room.. as a courtesy and upgraded us to a 2 room suite! Assistant manager Felix, Antonio from the level Punta Cana beach made it possible for us to be upgraded to such a big room at no additional cost... it made up for everything. Now let me go with everything amazing... swim up bars: big thanks to Dionicio and Julio, but every bartender was great... then what can I say about how amazing the rooftop bar at quimera is. The view of the pool and the Ocean is unbelievable... have to definitely mention Jose Valdez.. so hospitable that the drinks kept on coming and we’re amazing.. Okay the wedding.. at first we were about to lose our minds because living in NY and only communicating through email felt a lil frustrating. Thank you to our wedding planner Roselis!!! Once the date started getting closer she was on top of the emails. And not only that but once we arrived, she greeted us at the reception and answered every single question we had during the rehearsal ceremony dinner. During the actual event she was profesional, courteous, and on top of everything. Roselis was amazing. I can’t thank you enough for how you made us feel. Thank you! Let me not forget our concierge Juan and Johnny!!! Amazing guys. They made all my (annoying) requests happen without a problem. These guys were amazing. Everything from rooms, transport, unusual requests... everything! They can make absolutely anything happen We love it here at Melia!!!!!

My work took some of our top sales performers on a trip to this resort. We all stayed in the level and I must say, we had an amazing time! Omar took great care of our entire group and made sure we were happy the whole time. He made sure we had a spot reserved on the beach all week, made sure we had conference rooms reserved, and even reserved beach volley ball for us one morning. Our beach bartender kept the drinks coming, and all of the staff was extremely helpful for the entire week we were there. Our room was beautiful, the resort was beautiful, and of course the beach was amazing. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Ask for Omar! He will treat you like family :)

I usually enjoy all-inclusive, adults only resorts in the Caribbean. Sadly, the Melia really let me down. If you don’t speak Spanish, you might consider another resort. We asked for a room with 2 beds, non-smoking and quiet. When we were taken to a room with a king bed we immediately called the front desk and asked if another room was available. No, so the next morning before unpacking we went to the front desk to ask again. Still no, so we stayed put, right next to the Kid Zone Water Park. The room was clean with a small patio. However there was a total of one hook (for robes or nightwear) and no towel rack for wet towels. Only a segment of the resort Adults Only, with two classes of Adults Only. The Level offers access to three more restaurants and a private pool area for an additional $100 US per day. Having two lobbies for one hotel was quite confusing. The Sunwing transfer took us to the Melia Caribe Reception (family resort) but was redirected to the adjacent Melia Punta Cana desk. Do they not have a single computer system? There were two buffet restaurants, both near the beach and several “for all” restaurants near the lobbies. Getting from our room to our next meal was always a challenge in this huge resort. Signage indicating where you were and how to get where you were going we’re rare. Luckily, there were many golf cart and small “train” vehicles to pick up stragglers. There were too many negatives for us to recommend this resort to English speaking travelers.
