We are truly disappointed in the number of guest not following the rules of this property and disrespectfully not wearing their mask when walking around the property. Security is trying it’s best but there are not enough security staff to enforce the rules. It is a shame with the cases rising the governor is now requiring a 2nd Covid test upon arrival. We are visitors coming to Maui and we ALL should be grateful for Hawaii allowing us to begin visiting again. This should mean: respect the Hawaiian locals and wear your mask and social distance. Aloha!

Fine choice for condo-style accommodations, with drawbacks

We stayed in a beautiful 2-bedroom ocean front unit at the Westin Nanea. We have stayed several times at the Westin Kaanapali Villas and were curious to check out this new property. In short, we were underwhelmed. It is a fine, large, and new property, but some of the structural issues that we experienced in the other Westin Villas persist here (ie, pool access) along with some puzzling design flaws in the unit we stayed in. Some Pros: - new facilities - nicely furnished room with washer/dryer, dishwasher, pantry space, etc - spacious - very comfortable beds - friendly staff at reception - many concierge desks (which will be useful after COVID) - good walking path close to the property Some Cons: - 10am check out time. That’s really early for a high priced room. - no pool chairs between 8am and 5pm. During a busy week (and unfortunately that’s when you'll end up going if you have school-aged kids), it is guaranteed that all pool chairs will be reserved and unavailable by the time you finish breakfast if you keep a relaxed vacation schedule. We asked the pool attendant to help us find a chair mid-day and she simply said “sorry, it’s first come first served.” We ended up seating on the towels on the ground in the sun. - beach chairs are rented out/paid and there is not a lot of sand space in the beach in front of the hotel - no ceiling lights in bedrooms or living areas. The whole condo gets really dark at night in the common areas. - no counter space in the kitchen. Not sure what the architect was thinking, but there is literally 18in of counter space between the sink and stove - there is only one large pool, which is packed with children and teenagers throwing footballs across it. Most pool cabanas are around a separate lagoon (no swimming) with small and cold plunge pools in front of them. It’s a missed opportunity for more pool space to spread people out, in my opinion. Net, the Nanea is a fine choice for condo-style accommodations in Maui, very much in line with Kaanapali Villas, which actually have more pool options. If you don’t plan on spending time at the pool during the day or cook much in the condo, you’ll enjoy the beautiful facilities and space. If you want a relaxing and easy pool experience, you won’t find it here during school vacation times.

Our family of 4 arrived on Monday, April 5th about 1 hour before the suggested 4 PM check-in time. We were greeted at registration and informed that our Ocean Front villa was available and we could go right to our villa. We had a 2nd floor, 2 bedroom villa not more than 100 yards from the beach. The view was great and the villa very spacious. During our time, we watched the evening sunset every night from our 2nd floor balcony. Maui sunset are beautiful. During our week, we spent time walking the "boardwalk", dining at local restaurants, golfing, and just relaxing at one of the resorts more private pools. The wait personnel (primarily Matt) and the bartender (Damon I believe) were great. Their service was very good, even with the resort appearing full. A note about the housekeeping staff is very much deserved. Our villa was clean, and very well appointed. If we were ever in need of anything for the villa, a call to guest services would have someone at our door in a matter of minutes. Finally, the resort grounds were clean and very well maintained. In this era of COVID-19, every consideration for disinfecting and cleaning were readily apparent. My family and I would definitely recommend, should your travels bring you to the beautiful island of Maui, you consider staying at the Westin Nanea Ocean Villas.

They have the chairs set only in groups of 2 because of Covid and we were told we couldn’t move the chairs. We had a small beach chair at our area right by our 2 chairs and my daughter was sitting in it. Someone from the safety and security department came over and told us we couldn’t use those chairs because they can only have a certain amount of chairs around the pool and that my daughter would have to share one of the 2 chairs that were in our spot or she could sit on the ground. I find it pretty ridiculous that she can’t sit in a chair but can sit in that same spot that the chair was on the ground. Disappointed, Westin.

My friends and I stayed at the Westin Nanea during our spring break staycation and loved it! The staff was friendly and welcoming, and we felt safe with their COVID precautions in place. The room was sanitized and cleaned when we arrived so that we could feel comfortable for the weekend. We had breakfast at Mauka Makai and it was amazing. We had the breakfast sandwich, eggs benedict, and french toast- everything was delicious! We also enjoyed the pool and the live music. It was the perfect place for us to relax and enjoy some sunny weather.
