    Nice view for the day but COVID is cramping the experience

    We had to spend more time in our room than most people probably do because my husband didn't get his COVID results from the 'Hawaii Trusted Partner' lab for almost a day after we arrived on island - which means no pool time, no beach time. Thank goodness we did get upgraded so we could at least LOOK at the ocean. Room was quite nice and spacious but no restaurant open - very limited hotel menu and you cannot do room service unless you're quarantined. The pool and bar was open, unlike the previous review. Big suggestion - I know hotels are deferring maid service until check out during COVID, but how about 'if you have trash, put it outside your room in the evening' or ditto towels etc. Since we had to eat in for almost 24 hours, the trash got thick pretty quick. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly with everything. Location was great and close to the Kapaa jog/bike trail.

    We were looking for a staycation here on Kaua'i for my daughter's 7th birthday this weekend. Booked the hotel on the hotel's website on 7/16. Other than a general warning about cancellation polices due to covid-19 there is nothing on the hotel's website regarding any amenities not offered or being closed at the moment. I had a question about the parking fee, but since the local phone number wasn't going through I had to call the 1-800 number. Spoke to a very friendly lady about the resort fee (parking), and she also didn't tell me about anything being closed during our scheduled stay. The confirmation email mentioned that some amenities might not be available during our stay, which for most hotels these days includes the gym and some other minor stuff. Then I get an email from an employee 2 DAYS before check-in, letting me know, "oh, by the way, the pool, bar and restaurant are still closed" and how they are looking forward to seeing us on Kaua'i! 2 days! We looked at other hotel options on the 16th, but decided to give this one a shot. Now there are no more affordable options around here! When I called to talk to someone they just said, "yep, everything is closed" and, "oh, I thought somewhere on the website it says to call in for any questions." Does that mean I have to make a list of anything I might expect at a hotel to be offered and go down that checklist? This is the pool we are talking about, literally the ONLY reason we were staying at a hotel for. Imagine the look on my daughter's face when I told her that we had to cancel the hotel for her birthday. Unbelievable! And not even a sorry from the contact person. They know they are deceiving people, otherwise they would lead with the pool closure on the main page. This is really bad business!

    My wife and I needed a getaway after months of COVID lockdown, and while we have been able to get away to tend to business, this was purely relaxation, and very welcome. We had a certificate from when this had been a Courtyard - NIGHT AND DAY. The people on staff are friendly, the rooms are nice and clean and the grounds appealing. NOW ... amenities: none. Restaurants: none. Pool: closed. We knew that going in, and were perfectly okay with it; if you are going expecting a RESORT, you may want to wait for a while. It was apparent that occupancy was at a painful low. Other than a few guardsmen, we saw only two other guests. The same is true of almost every business in Kapa'a. From where we went to get our meals, to the supermarkets and shops (the few which were open). Ample free parking and a small, but pleasant beach right in front of the hotel. We look forward to returning when the island tourism stablizes a bit.

    Best hotel option in the area!!! This resort has recently gone through a rebranding and a major renovation that looks spectacular. Location is important when traveling and our stay here was within walking distance to excellent restaurants in the area and steps away from the beach. Centrally located within driving distance to sunny south shore or to see majestic views on the north shore. We spent two nights in a newly remodeled upgraded ocean view room. Rooms were very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. Service was excellent and the staff was very approachable, helpful, and friendly. We definitely plan on staying here again!

    While we have not had a chance to stay at the property yet, I feel compelled to write a review on the service I have received from Ali Lahip thus far. We’ve had to make changes to multiple rooms for our upcoming stay including changing dates due to the Covid pandemic. I called in to notify the hotel of my desire to potentially change dates on a points reservation, and the manager Ali took charge immediately. He indicated I could change the reservation to any available dates (even though often hotels tell you to reach out to customer service and pass the baton or add fees here and there) and shared his direct contact info to reach out to him as soon as I was ready as he wanted to be the one to accommodate. I called today, Ali communicated immediately, and took charge and made the changes within a matter of minutes. Now based on mixed reviews, I can tell this is a newly remodeled property with a name change. While there may be growing pains, service and follow through as such should elevate it to a very desirable level. We are excited to experience this property, and update the review after fully experiencing it.
