    Will Never Book Here Again

I would like to say that our experience at Sandals Negril was like any other that we've ever experienced. Not in a good way. We've stayed at Sandals Resorts in the past, including booking our honeymoon in St. Lucia. We had the best time we possibly could have, which is why we wanted to book at another Sandals. However, this time was the complete opposite. First off, when we arrived at the airport, the transfer van to the resort did not have our names in the system. We had to show them our confirmation email in order to get onto the van. They then had to call the resort to make sure that we were in fact scheduled to be there. Once we arrived to the resort, and went to check in, they had our departure date a day earlier than we had scheduled. Not knowing if we were going to have a room or not, we had to wait. We know that with a Sandals stay, the first night you get a pretty informative orientation, we barely got a five minute debrief of what we were signing. That was it. We finally made it to our room and the first thing we walk into is a musty moldy smell. Yes it HAD MOLD IN THE ROOM. Now we could not see it but the smell was obvious and concerning. We immediately went down to the front desk to ask for someone to address the situation and about an hour later, a maintenance person came to the room and JUST SPRAYED AN AIR FRESHENER. That's NOT fixing the problem and not to say, a health risk. At this point we are getting a bit frustrated but do not want to ruin our vacation. Meanwhile, our bags still have NOT arrived to our room. This is now more than an hour after we arrived. We had to go back down to the front desk again to have them find our bags. A staff member placed them in the wrong room. Back to the mold situation. The air freshener did not help and the fact that the AC didn't get that cold, the smell was just getting worse and would continue with the heat and humidity the next day. We asked to switch to a different room. No one should have to stay in a room with mold in it. We even asked a staff member to come in and smell the room and they agreed that this wasn't an appropriate situation to be in. Yet somehow, we weren't able to transfer to a different room until the following day, thus having to sleep in the molded room for the night. Some of our clothes smelled of mold and we could not wear them. After spending the night in the originally booked molded room, we asked to speak to the manager who attempted to find us a new room and/or transfer us to Sandals Montego Bay. This was the morning. It wasn't until 5PM that they were able to get us a new room. Also, during that time, we were told to check in with them to see how things were going. Therefore, we couldn't relax or partake in any activities because we didn't know when or even IF our room would be ready. FINALLY they switch us to a new room and we feel like our vacation can finally start. We enjoyed the nightly entertainment provided by the staff and then headed back to our room to go to sleep. However, there was a party going on outside at the piano bar until 2AM, which kept up not only us but a handful of other guests. The party was supposed to be over at 1AM. This is unbelievable at this point. Never have we had this bad of an experience anywhere. We understand and encourage people to have fun on vacation but not to the detriment of others. The next morning, we head down to the front desk to make a reservation at one of the restaurants on the property. When we went to make our reservation, the staff member didn't have our dietary restrictions which we had previously given the day before. As instructed by the staff the night earlier to make things easier for them. This was our last straw. We went back to the front desk and asked for a transfer from Sandals Negril to Sandals Montego Bay. We had enough of the poor service and misery we've experienced so far. We were told that they would look into it and knowing how long something would take to get done, we were skeptical. Hours passed. We were told to, again, keep checking in with the front desk on progress of the transfer, and once again, not being able to enjoy our vacation, two days into it. So then we called the corporate number, taking matters into our own hands and not wasting a lot of money on a vacation we wouldn't enjoy. We were told to go down and ask for the General Manager. Only until then, were we finally able to get a transfer over to Montego Bay where they treated us the way we expected to be treated and our vacation could finally begin, almost three days later. We will continually praise the Sandals Montego Bay location for the hospitality they showed us. Never again will we stay at Sandals Negril and potentially a Sandals again. We contacted customer service and the best they could do was offer us more reward points. I'm sorry but that doesn't rectify the circumstances of our trip.

The service was top notch here. We had two butlers, Kendrick and Wadea who were fantastic. The idea of having a butler constantly waiting on us was not really our thing but Wadea seemed to always show up with drinks or a pizza when you just start thinking “I’m kinda thirsty” and seemed like she truly took pride in doing so. Every day we had a spot reserved on their beautiful beach with a cooler full of water and beer. The food was about the quality of a higher end chain restaurant but wasn’t bad. Chris the bartender was also wonderful and good at remembering how you liked your drinks. My biggest complaint is that there is no ATM on the resort and we were getting low on cash so we couldn’t tip people the way we normally would. Bring lots of cash!

The resort is beautiful, the staff is very friendly and helpful. There was a nice variety of restaurants, the food was good and the bars used top shelf brands. The grill was open late at night in case you got hungry, but that was never an issue for us. Nightly entertainment was just okay.

This was our first stay in a Sandals Resorts, and it will not be our last! From the minute Rocky’s Taxi service picked us up the experience was incredible. When we arrived in Negril, we felt like we were home. Our room overlooked 7-mile beach and we were literally steps from the water. The food was fantastic, the drinks are fantastic, and the service is fantastic. The entire staff was wonderful, but I have to call out a few that went out of their way and had an extra smile for us. Jervin at Bayside was great, it was his first week, but you would never have known it…he had the biggest smile. Bartenders Earl, Akeem, and Janelle were the best, they made us laugh so hard and entertained us a few evenings. Lucien talked us into snuba diving, and it was our favorite experience of the trip. I almost got out of the water and didn’t go because I was so nervous, but Lucien calmed me down and got me to go under the water. Our next trip to Sandals will include snuba diving multiple times! Overall, the rooms could use a little updating. The bathrooms are a little small, but we honestly didn’t spend that much time in the room. The views were beautiful, the beach was perfect, and the water was so calm. Can’t wait to start planning our next trip!

We decided to try Sandals, our first and last time. Room was vary dated. Bathroom sink was cracked, paint chipping on walls and trim. Still waiting for extra hangers and robes. Took days to get beer in our room. While you were watching the shows at night, employees were walking in front of you setting up for breakfast...very rude! Seldom did anyone wait on us while on the beach or in the lounges, had to get up and get own drinks. Food was very good. We have been to many resorts and found Sandals fell short of our expectations especially for what we paid. I guess if you have never ventured out beyond a Sandals resort you don't know what your missing.
