This is the first time we have stayed at this location. The grounds and pool area are immaculate. We appreciated their protocol for the Coronavirus pandemic with wearing of masks and generous amounts of hand sanitizer throughout the building and pool areas. We felt very safe. Walter (Bear) McDavid was particularly impressive in his security work at the pool area. He was easy to approach, had a sense of humor when appropriate, was a great communicator to all ages of customers and yet strict on the pool rules. His presence at the pool gave us assurance that no one would be bothered (splashing) or harmed (running, diving). Overall, this was a great experience.

Julie and I have been to Kaanapali beach many times but this was our first stay at this hotel. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms large and well appointed and the resort staff very nice. And the beach was amazing with some of the best snorkeling on Maui right at your doorstep. Hawaii just opened up on October 15 and we were nervous about the Covid protocols but the hotel did an amazing job of enforcing masking and social distancing requirements and there was hand sanitizer everywhere and I mean everywhere. The good news is that nothing was crowded but the bad news is a lot of things were closed including resort amenities. In fact the only thing that was open was the pool restaurant with reduced hours and a minimal menu. But everything we needed was it within a short walk or drive and many restaurants were open in Lahaina (Although most of the shops were closed). This resort is a little pricey. We paid $575 a night with all taxes and fees for a two bedroom condo. Considering that you do not have daily maid service nor access to the fitness center, other on site restaurants/deli/market or the business center or any of the general resort activities we felt that the hotel should’ve discounted their rates - but they didn’t except for waiving the daily $20 “resort fee”. But we had a wonderful time and will definitely consider this resort when we next return to Kaanapali.

Welcoming luxury in our new normal

I think many people are unsure of traveling right now but if you choose this property you will feel safe and very WELCOME! I cannot stress how wonderful it felt to be welcomed by the staff of the Nanea... Big Mahalo to Vance at Valet, Akesa and Janet our Concierges. Yes there is a lot different from normal times... Masks are mandatory even POOL SIDE.. But not in the water.. Maui has very very low rates of covid and we ALL want to keep it that way. The rooms are all well equipped and luxurious.. Fully stocked kitchen; all you need is to bring the food and condiments. Washer and dryer and dishwashers with detergent provided.. There are some issues because of the pandemic to be aware of.... 1. NO room cleaning during your stay... Staff are not allowed into your room unless something is broken.. You can contact housekeeping for anything you need replacing but no one will be cleaning. Rooms do have brooms, toilet brushes and vacuums (ours did not though). 2. NO sit down dining on property. Many restaurants all over the island are still closed.. But slowly these are reopening. 3. No Valet service. Bags will be taken to your room but you MUST be waiting for them and the Valet is not allowed to cross the threshold to set your luggage down. Nanea does have Weber gas grills that the staff clean daily so if steaks are what you crave then NO problem.. Poolside is still great for families and the beach is gorgeous... We loved every minute of our visit... Sad to see it end.

Upon arrival to the Nanea, we were impressed by the overall "aloha" that we felt there. So welcoming. Later during our stay we had a small problem that was immediately delt with my Manager Ohia. She was very professional, courteous and really cared. Thank you Nanea for making our stay exceptional! We will definitely stay again!

My daughter and son-in-law returned once again to Maui for their 13th wedding anniversary, but on this occasion, they brought their mothers as a special gift of celebration. On our 5th day of this lovely vacation, I experienced a fall resulting in an ankle fracture and concussion. The security staff, namely Shane O and his supervisor, took a special interest in assisting me. They were kind, efficient and helpful in every way. I cannot be more grateful. Shane O followed up to check on me on several occasions through that day and the next to ensure that the rest of our vacation was not ruined. Thank you Westin Nanea Ocean Villas Maui, Hawaii. Thank you Shane O. Hilda
