Everything is great except the rooms!!

861racheller (Lethbridge, Canada) on Apr 27, 2024

You will not be disappointed with the overall experience at this resort. It is HUGE and there is no shortage of things to see and do. Expect to get plenty of steps in, just getting around the resort. I averaged 17,000-20,000 steps per day! The pools are awesome (we liked the quiet pool, closest to the beach). The staff are AWESOME! Everyone is so friendly. Grounds are beautiful. Food is mostly good. Pretty typical of a giant Mexican all inclusive. Our favourite restaurant was the Japanese restaurant where they did the teppanyaki show. The Mexican restaurant was also very good. Room service menu was just terrible, and the food was bad. You can book restaurant reservations on the app, but we did find it pretty finicky and a little challenging to use. You can book through the concierge as well. The buffet is a typical buffet, but we did enjoy breakfasts there. We also liked the burger place and taco place in the shopping centre. There is lots of wildlife to be seen, and the resort is very lush and "jungly". The beach is white and beautiful, and there was only a bit of seaweed one day we were there. The water is quite clear and turquoise, though we didn't actually swim in the ocean, but others were. I would say the main negatives would be the rooms (very dated, dark, small) HOWEVER they were clean, our housekeeper was awesome! I did not catch his name but he was cleaning rooms 5283 and 5284 during April 1-8, and he was the nicest guy and did such a great job! Another negative was the annoying chair saving tactics from rude guests who wake up at the crack of dawn to reserve chairs they won't use for hours, limiting the rest of us from finding a seat. We were there during Easter week and it was insanely busy, but people seemed to leave by the weekend and we did eventually find pool chairs on day 5. I wish they would crack down on the chair saving, because that really did put a damper on our vacation. One other thing is that they try and hook you for time share pitches, and after a couple times of almost being tricked into it, we found ourselves trying to avoid any staff we didnt recognize. Not fun trying to avoid people, and we don't like to be rude to the employees, but it was annoying. Besides our excellent housekeeper, we did have great service from several other people during the week. We ended up at the sports bar every night (Canadians who didn't want to miss hockey!) and the staff there were sooo great. They worked so hard and were super attentive, we just loved it there! Huge thank you to Vianey and Lucy, who made our time extra special. And Jose, Benny, Pablo, and Delil at check in and check out. We would 100% come back here to see all these people again.

Another great stay at the Lindo

Aaron G (Lakefield, Canada) on Apr 25, 2024

This is our second time visiting this resort and we are looking forward to our next visit. The staff works so hard to make it an enjoyable experience. especially Lea Libia at the Aquarium Bar who was always smiling and pleasant, Jonathan and Raphael. Our waitress Anjela at the pool was always close and very nice. Excellent wine suggestions from the house sommelier Rafael at the Fine Dining al a carte. The pool and grounds are very well maintained and the buffet food was consistent. Our building was 50, very close to the beach and the pool. We would love to stay at the Mayan next time we come. We are hoping to bring the kids back with us next year. I did notice the theatre was very empty for the shows, I'm not sure if this is the result of the available upgrade you can see some bigger shows. This was our first trip since 2019, I remember other stays here and at other Caribbean resorts the free shows at the theatre are very popular. No complaints at this place, the evening shows were good, typical music and dance numbers that you find down there. 100% will come back. Javier the concierge was super helpful answering questions and helping us book some al a carte bookings.

Excellent Week at the Lindo

KMattice (Cambridge, Canada) on Apr 24, 2024

We just returned back from a wonderful week at the Lindo Hotel, stayed April 14-21st. We went with our two teenagers and had two rooms booked. Since we pay the adult rate for both kids now being 13 and 17, it is the same price to book 2 rooms or 1. We emailed in advance to ask for rooms side by side or adjoining rooms. We were informed via email that the adjoining rooms would be extra and were prepared to pay for them. Our flight with WestJet was uneventful which is perfect and our private transfer with Kalido was wonderful (cost $100 USD return). We waited about 30 minutes for baggage arriving on a Sunday around 1:00pm, customs took no time at all. Upon arrival at the hotel we paid an extra $50 USD per night and received newly renovated family suite rooms in building 54 on the ground floor. I was thrilled as that is exactly what we wanted. The location was perfect and ground floor is my favourite. The resort was busy, they desperately need more bartenders! Only 1 at the swim up bar all week, that guy was so busy all day, every day. Actually only 1 bartender at most of the bars, so there was always a long line up for drinks. Insulated mugs are a must so you don't have to wait in that line too much. Food was incredible. I got most of the restaurant reservations we wanted which I booked right away with the concierge, except one night. I checked the app a few times and a 6pm at Hashiru the Japanese restaurant opened up and we took it. I was not impressed with the buffet, it was just busy all week, no matter what time we went. I guess not enough staff to keep up as the service was slow. The food at the buffet was good, but it was just not an enjoyable meal with so many people in lines and kids running all around the place. We ate at the following: Buffet Dinner first night - it wasn't my thing, so we did not go back for dinner. It was just really really busy so not too enjoyable for us. El Museo Gourmet - it's a new menu now, not a set menu and it was delicious, one of our favourite meals Lemon & Spices - this one was my favourite, I love Greek food Hashiru - we went for the kids, but personally it is the same show at every resort, when it is just my husband and I, we would skip it Under the Sea - service was great, the sculptures are wonderful and the food there was really tasty El Rancho - excellent food, we could just eat that bread all night and be happy Olivetti Italian - this was excellent as well, I had the sea bass with risotto, so good. We participated in activities throughout the week, but mostly kept to ourselves. We had many trips around the lazy river, which yes is lazy but we loved it. Lots of shade in the lazy river, so it was nice to be in there. The wave pool we used, but it is really geared to the young kids, it is just not that deep. The main pool and the waterslides were perfect for our teens. My biggest disappointment was the beach. The beach itself is great, but with red flags every single day, the water was not swimmable. It is really rough water on that whole stretch of resorts, we knew this coming in, and that is why the lazy river and waterslides are a big plus here. We booked one tour through Nexus (Westjet/Sunwing) and decided we will never book with them again. The tour was not as described only visiting 1 coral reef and not 3, they did not provide any snacks or lunch which they said they would, and they did not provide return transportation to the hotel. They left you stranded at their location so you could spend more money on food and drinks and souvenirs. Next time, I would book a tour through a private company like Kalido. Overall the week was exceptional, it was our third trip to this complex, first two times we stayed at Maya. Staying at the Lindo, I did not feel as though I missed a thing, it was perfect. We stayed at the Maya previously as there were 4 of us in 1 room and I wanted the extra space. Now that we get two rooms, kids are 13 and 17, we don't need each room to be bigger and having two bathrooms is a big plus. We met and friended one of the star friends named Franco. He really made my son's week. He has been there for about 5 years now and is really a gem on the resort, this guy deserves a raise! Do not hesitate to book Lindo, you will have a wonderful week.

Perfect Family Vacation!!

Elisaperry77 on Apr 24, 2024

Travelled mid April with my family of 6. Kids age 8-23. This resort had something for everyone. We are a blended family and me and my daughter like to relax by the pool and the others prefer to be busy all the time. The resort is HUGE so there is loads to do or walk to see. We were in building 54 which was newly renovated...very nice room but it is small. We had the 2-room family suite so we had a cot (very good quality) with our king-size bed in one room and 2 twin beds with an extra cot in the second room. There wasn't much room to spare but we were 100% fine with that. The rain shower was nice but we all prefer a stronger spray. The food was amazing...the best I've had yet and I've travelled to quite a few places. There was literally something for everyone. One of our daughters really likes mango so they were sure to get her mango every day even if it wasn't at the buffet. I enjoy fresh coconut so they cut some up for me as well. They will go above and beyond to make your stay wonderful. The bartenders are extremely busy and they try to be pleasant with everyone but they are run off their feet. Angel in the small buffet was amazing. He got to know all of us and helped our little guy. Entertainment staff were great as well. We don't participate in the activities but we like to watch the games. Alexei was fabulous and always took time out to talk with us and invite us to the events. He noted any concerns or suggestions for improvements. All in all, I would recommend this resort to anyone however if you have mobility issues, it is an extremely large property.

Vacation

Definitely would rate this a 5! The staff was very accommodating and interactive and Paulette was very informative and enjoyable. We usually cruise but this is equal to cruising. Would highly recommend for a change. This vacation I was overall amazing.
