Do not stay here
Reviewed by sabrinatB7829EP() on Feb 26, 2021
I travel to Cancun area 5-6 times a year. I had always wanted to stay at one of the Iberostar Resorts. I wish I had NEVER come here. The food is horrible! There are not 10 restarurants like advertised. There is only about 5 and you have to make reservations, there is little availability. The drinks are GROSS and I got sick after 2 glasses of 'house red". Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.
Nice time

My daughters and I stayed for 8 days and had a great time. We felt very safe and the staff was outstanding. Franco, Liam, Paquito, Gabi and Zitlali were awesome at entertaining us. The shows were fun to watch. We had an overall great time. Food was also good with a lot to choose from.
Great Vacation during COVID

We had originally cancelled our vacation and I knew as soon as I did, I made a mistake and we quickly rebooked. One, we were desperate to get away and also knew that there were workers ready for us. We were welcomed and were upgraded to a Junior Suite from a Pool View Room. Our room was cleaned each day and Francesca did a fantastic job. Our servers at the pool went above and beyond our expectations. A great big thank you to Angelia, Alejandra. Always so friendly and great conversations. The Star Team was exceptional. Carlos was my favorite. I hope to see him as a Host some day. Always stopping for a chat whether I was on the beach or at the pool. Everyone at the resort was always working, always willing to put a smile on our face. I personally liked that the resort was not too busy, it made moving around and getting in the ala carte's better and I hope that business picks up. We plan on coming back. COVID Precautions were always in place. The staff was always wearing mask. We would wear our mask in public places, even when walking to the pool/restrooms or walking to the beach. We wanted to be respectful of others. Not everyone staying at the resort were adhering to wearing the mask and I did like that some of the staff would remind guest to wear their mask. What I didn't care for: Too many coati's and them looking for food. Alot of people like these but I was not a fan. There were too many of them and they had no problem going up to pool/beach chairs and getting into peoples bags. There were signs asking people not to feed them (in different languages) but people would feed them anyway.

We stayed at the Iberostar Lindo for 10 days in late November, just before Thanksgiving. We had a great time (because we made the best of it!) but would never go back and never stay at Iberostar as it didn't live up to any of our past vacations. Property: The property is very nice and aesthetically appealing. The complex is HUGE and you should plan on lots of walking. There were carts to take but they weren't always reliable, if it is rainy then forget about it. We waited 45 minutes after calling for a cart before just deciding to walk in the rain. Rooms: We had a 2 bedroom family suite, which is just 2 connecting rooms. The rooms were embarrassing outdated. Think Motel 6. We do NOT stay in our rooms except to sleep but the lack of updates were still bad. Electrical outlets are almost non existent. In 2020, most hotels (probably even Motel 6) have upgraded the lighting or beside tables to include usb or just more outlets. Definitely not here. Everything about the room from the bedding, floor, fixtures, rickety patio doors was such a let down. And way too much to expect a robe or slippers. Thankfully bed was comfortable. Service: The service was the next letdown. We travel to 1-2 all inclusive a year and this was by far the least service oriented resort we've ever stayed at. We traveled with a group of 30 (9 families) to celebrate my husband's birthdays. We did a mix of eating in smaller groups or just families, with 1 meal all together. They had us choose a set menu for the steakhouse (our one meal with all 30) and then they ran out of the particular steak? The service everywhere was hit or miss. The poolside service was almost non existent on some days. However, the pool bartenders were great thankfully. The drinks not so much. Very low quality liquors and watered down. We discovered the Maya lobby and enjoyed the infused tequilas there. However, I don't believe this is normally open to Lindo guests and was exception due to pandemic. We were celebrating my husband's 40th birthday (and brought 30 people to their resort) and was hoping for some fun room decor or something. When I asked AGAIN, we received a bottle of champagne 2 days after his birthday. Food: The food is actually decent. Some better than others. We were not fans of the steakhouse as it was very low quality meats. Everyone loved the Japanese, French restaurant, and seafood restaurant. Pools: Huge pool. But so cold that I never got in. Kids enjoyed it. Wave pool was fun. lazy river was more shaded and too cold to even attempt and didn't seem to be cleaned during our stay. The water slides hadn't opened up yet while we were there but they looked fun. Beach: The beach is nice here and tons of loungers. It was PACKED every day. Probably because pool was too cold. The beach is nice. Waves were really rough and not swimmable a few days due to hurricane hitting south of here. We did get to enjoy it our last few days and temp was pleasant. Star Club: Inside and playground area was completely closed. They combined groups so 4-12 year old were together. They said they'd allow the 12 year olds to go to the teen camp but we had some 10 year olds too so they didn't want to be split up. Would be fun for young kids but the 10-12 year olds were bored to tears. The counselors did seem very nice though. It was disappointing to find so much closed at the resort. We stayed at another resort in August (also during pandemic) and almost everything was open. The latter part of our stay was during Thanksgiving break and the resort got much more crowded yet still nothing more opened. Huge letdown and even if you normally love this resort, I would reconsider during covid. If you like Dreama, Ziva, Sandos type of resorts then I would stay away from Iberostar. The rooms and most important, service cannot compare. If you're looking for a cheap getaway with decent food, then go for it!
