WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

My worst experience in New York. We had booked a hotel room a month before our trip and when we got there we were told that the reservation had been cancelled. After waiting 5 hours on standing in the hotel lobby and after a 10 hour trip after they re-booked our reservation, they would not accept any of our credit cards for the guarantee amount (we tried 7 different cards), they would not accept cash and even though we had prepaid our accommodation fees they kicked us out of the hotel at 12am. Note that the cards were accepted by the Intercontinental the next day without any problem. Rude staff, unwilling to resolve the problem. Simply unacceptable!!!!!
Comfortable beds!

Stayed here for 9 nights. Room was comfortable and despite being in Times Square itself, very quiet. You can hear sirens but it didn't keep us awake, and let's acknowledge...it's New York!! We had a fabulous view. The sunrise view was magnificent. Bed and pillows were super comfortable. There is no fridge in the room (a very New York thing it seems) but we paid a small fee to have one brought to our room. (You can only arrange this on arrival, so be aware that asking prior won't get a fridge in the room earlier. ) All the staff were very pleasant in that 'big hotel ' way...ie friendly but not in a 'get to know you' way. That was fine with us and I have no complaints, as we felt secure and happy with the level of hospitality shown. It's what you'd expect in a hotel in this location and of this size! The rooms are tired and need some TLC, but generally clean. The bathroom layout was a little strange in that the toilet and shower were in one room and the vanity was open to the room. It did mean one person could shower an another use the sink area, but you couldn't use the toilet if the other was showering, and having the light on in the vanity area meant disturbing a sleeping co traveller. The shower room was also very small, so generally we chose to half dress in there Nd finish dressing outside. There's no glassware of any kind in the room. We were supplied with some paper cups but that was it. The enormous windows require equally large window covering. This is where the room really needs tome TLC. The dated curtains were in real need of replacement as they would not fully open or close and were hanging off their hooks etc. All in all, a pleasant stay. Right in the heart of Times Square. We wanted to be walking distance to theatre at night...could have chosen elsewhere but we feel this was the right choice for us on this trip. Very convenient location. Not inexpensive but one look at the view and we knew why we'd chosen it!
