Always feel at home at this resort!!!

Eric C (Saint Leonard, Canada) on Apr 30, 2024

Returning guest at resort for the sixth time, our trip was full of additional memories and full of love from the employees "Familia". Entertainment team: If you love to dance, be prepare, you will fall in love with there culture, Vranik and Yeyrel, they have hearts of gold and always make sure that you feel right at home, Get ready to have loads of laughs with them around. Don't be afraid to go and Dance with the Entertainment, Carmen's smile will lure you to go while Ibis and her innocent charmed smile will make you feel at ease, you will not be able to resist grooving to the beat. Rock and Roll day every Friday beginning in the afternoon at bigger beach with live Mr Pickle pre show. They had something new on this trip, White Party at the Lobby at 6pm, bring your whites, dance moves and ENERGY, the entertainment team will have all of those for you to enjoy. At night, the Mr Pickle band keeps on rocking. Customer service will always TRY to accommodate where they can with any REASONABLE request. Anaysis and Alberto to name a few, have always tried to accommodate where they can, they pay great attention to your happiness. Snack bar: Leslie and Yanet will make sur you will have snacks and a very big smile!!! Tired of walking, no problem!!! Miguel is not too far with the cart, make sure to be nice to him, he has one of the biggest love of life I have ever seen and aims to please!!! Daniel, Yanelis and The team at the Spa THANK YOU for everything that you do to make sure that we are all relaxed…. They are amazing at what they do. Yosnier, Amaury, Lisdian, Vitor and Daymaris will always make sure you are continuously hydrated with your choices of sweet, hard or funky drinks. They have many drinks in their repertoire, you will find your Favorite, Ron Punch, Miami Vice, Mimosa, Expresso Martini, Pina Colada to name a few.... Now what would be Varadero without Las playas!!! WOW!!! 2 amazing beaches with clear turquoise waters and white sands, as for lounge chairs, if some guest would not stack them 2 high, there would be plenty for all, don't be shy to go ask them and share the chairs, the beach boy will try to help you out along the way LOL !!! Food, you will find something to eat, don’t forget, you are allowed to bring yourself some snacks from home, just check with the Cuban law on what you can bring and amounts you can bring. A quick taxi ride, If you have a craving for a Poutine, not part of the resort but in case you are struggling, we have found a Restaurant which had on their menu DELICIOUS Poutine and Pizza!!! Calle 54 near the end of the street. Vista Azul is perfectly located in Varadero. But none the less, it was always a pleasure to go eat at the buffet and say Hola to Manuel!!! Rooms are nice, to be honest, for the amount of time in a day spent in the rooms, if their is a minor issue, don't be shy to calmly approach customer service and they will try to assist, but keep in mind that this Hotel is a popular spot and not ALWAYS able to accommodate what you wish for, but when booking, place your preferences in comments, They do see your comments. We have tried many different rooms and never disappointed, Block 6 this April, upgraded to 2nd floor Oceanview overtop of the lobby in November of 2023, Block 3 in April 2023, Bungalow suite November 2022 and block 2. All of the locations have their perks, but my personal Favorite was Ocean View over Lobby. ALTHOUGH, our last trip, we have met a GEM which ALWAYS made sure our room was something to look forward to after a full day of sun!!! Little hidden surprises and what a great smile and heart!!! Thank you Lorena We have as mentioned been here more than once, staff will remember you if you return and create a milestone in their lives, In a world where you choose to be anything you want, Choose to be kind ;-)

Cuban Experience

Karen C on Apr 30, 2024

booked premium and thank goodness - room was great and Sina Denie our maid kept our room very clean Premium pool - lovely - just short of parasols Carols and Reyme - opened the pool bar at 8am and were great guys - thank you larger pool - too noisy snack bar at the larger pool and beach pool at front of hotel - lovely Diana and all of the Butlers were great Premium restaurants:- Coral restaurant- Katia and her team were amazing - great breakfast and evening meal and they made our wedding anniversary very special Hubby had a pizza for lunch on the last day from the Coral and said it was gorgeous and thank goodness he didnt have one on the first day - his waistline would have suffered!! Neptune restaurant - again great service and food sadly due to availability of some food items it became repetitive - no steak for last 4 days of the holiday or smoked salmon available for the whole of the holiday didnt go to the Italian or Romantico - due to menu and me being a fussy so and so! If you love lobster then the premium restaurants are the place for you - ask for full one as they only serve half unless asked Buffet restaurant - breakfast ok - lunch again ok - evening meal was not so great - thankfully only ate there once. BBq at the beach - Cuban band and a rock band once per week - they were great Beaches - lots of sunbeds - but the parasols are not positioned well - so crowded Premium Bar - all the bar staff were amazing and knew your order before you asked ! clean / tidy / quiet too Rizo bar in the lobby - ok but staff overwhelmed due to volume of customers animation team - again worked hard and the white party at the pool side was entertaining?! reception staff - always helpful grounds - well kept / clean and tidy Disability facilities - great Golf type carts available to get you around if required cannot really walk anywhere - but the tour bus stops outside the hotel to the left that takes you to Varadero - $5.00 or 5 euros for the whole day - finishes at 6pm can book a taxi or old car too Negatives - hotel is in need of some upgrading but this doesn't detract from the service they provide Food in the buffet restaurant - not the best ? our room had rugs - need to remove these as full of stains and were dirty looking Premium areas - need better signage - bar staff were constantly asking other customers to leave as area is only for premium customers - and quite often were verbally abused - Put a bigger sign up and at the front post, not set back??

Either...hit or miss!

How do I begin let's start with saying that i thought most of The Stuff there were good though I did have a beef against a certain Department. The food there was okay my fave Spot was The Beach Side Snack Bar where the Waiters & Staff were fast, good & friendly where a lot guests were very much happy to see & eat French Fries like Bacon at the Main Buffet you have to be in Early & quick on the draw.I stayed in Room 8314 in Black 8 on the third Floor there's an Elevator in this 4 Story High Building that doesn't work..maybe fixing it might not be a bad idea!! The Room was Basic Room with a Balcony that overlooked The Swimming Pool Balcony with a 55 Inch LED TV a small Mini Bar Fridge where you got a Big Bottle of Water/ Agua every day.The Staff at The Main Swimming Pool & Snack Bar are nice there's also a Specialty Coffee Place around there.Th Bartenders at The Busy Main Front Desk Lobby Area are attentive you will get a drink in quick fashion & waitresses will make sure that if you are just about empty you'll get a refill no problem. The Layout of The Resort is on The Mid to Smaller Size it's very easy to find your way round it walking. There's Mixed Nationalities there I think at least 50% Guests are Canadians+ Germans,British & Russians etc.I took a lot of Gifts to give out there Clothes,T Shirts,Chewing Gum, Cosmetics,Band Aids etc so much so much so that my Suitcase was almost at 23 KG limit at YVR Vancouver BC Airport at check in.I tried to distribute these items out as evenly as I could amongst all The Staff The only ones who didn't seem to be at all greatful from getting a bag full of clothes was The Dance Animation/ Team I didn't even get a thanks from any of them.It was an Okay Resort I didn't like it as much as The Resort I stayed at in Holguin in April 2023.Again I think I maybe personally prefer Holguin in The South over Varadero to me it's a different type of mellower vibe there. One thing that might have factored into my way of thinking is that I had a Trip to Honolulu Hawaii in February 2024 so I have to be honest & say I prefer that way more even if it is a very much higher price range as a Destination Trip & is like maybe like comparing Apples ??& Oranges??.One thing I am 100 % certain of is that I won't be going back to Varadero anytime soon from terms of convenience & not having to bring along the proverbial Kitchen Sink it's easier to visit elsewhere & I don't have to pay way over elevated Prices on normal stuff like snacks e.g. Pringles or have Staff at a Plaza Supermarket over charge me on a Purchase there.Don't get me wrong Varadero is beautiful but then again I personally also prefer to see other Destinations e.g.Cartegna????San Jose????, Veracruz???? etc.To each their own I guess if you go I'd say stock up on all you need Snacks,Sunscreen,Medicine because a lot of everyday items are either rare or non existent there.I'd say to anyone by all means enjoy it but also understand there's other Destination Options..peace out Alistair.????

Great animation

Zeina R on Apr 28, 2024

I went to Vista Azul with my mom and my 9 years old son. It was his first travel trip. The staff is very friendly, the hotel is super clean and the animation was definitely amazing. The dancers were very talented and we got to meet them and chat with them after the shows. The shows were my son's favorite part of his vacation! One of the great dancers: Daimer Arturo Morens, was nice enough to bring my son on stage, after work, to make him dance. It was a dream of my son and he was thrilled! A souvenir he will never forget! I was very touched by his gesture because he did it out of pure kindness, without anything in return and made my son very happy. Damien's kindness and everyday greetings defenetly made those vacation special to us and left us with an amazing memory. I do recommend this hotel, and don't forget to see the great dance shows !

Disappointed.

N109HFjohnm (Nottingham, United Kingdom) on Apr 24, 2024

We travelled as a family of 7 people staying in 3 rooms. 2 of the rooms were fine however the 3rd was a catalogue of errors. On arrival we thought great no stairs to climb as we were on the ground floor Room 5109. On going into the room our view over the pool area was completely blocked by trees set in gravel and grass. This made the room dark and dismal most uninviting. We couldn’t open any of the drawers in the chest of drawers and the cupboard door was hanging off! The wardrobe doors were really difficult to move, one was off the top runner. The doors were repaired after we complained but they fell off again before the of our stay. The bathroom wall was covered in black marks resembling footprints. The patio door did not lock at all ! The main door did not double lock. There was no telephone in room, so any complaints you had to walk to Reception, where the staff were most unhelpful and always sent you to Customer Services. There was a coffee maker but no coffee or tea or sugar. When I asked the maid, she said “No not today not on Resort”. We did not like the large window between the shower and the bedroom, no privacy! Fuse box was falling off the wall. A maid came every day and changed the towels if we left them on floor but they were often late being replaced. Toiletries were not replaced. They didn’t always change bed linen. The patio furniture was stolen by some other guests. The beds were really comfortable. The room looked as if had been flooded at some time, there was a line about 6 inches above the skirting. The air conditioning was good. On our last day the safe showed a fault and the other wardrobe door fell off, even though these were reported they were not fixed. Pool areas were nice apart from the fact they were not regularly cleaned and tidied. The infinity pool was lovely a great place to sit and watch the sunset. Some of the reception area bar staff were more interested in showing off to the guests than serving people waiting. The draught beer ran out after two days so it was cans and bottles but served in plastic cups or wine glasses. Towards the end of our 10 night stay the reception bar closed before 11pm. The food in the main restaurant was fairly bland and warm. There was plenty of it but chicken and rice most days. The best thing about breakfast were pancakes and omelettes, the staff who served these were great. You had to ask for bacon. We tried the Al a carte restaurants the Carribbean was our favourite, these staff were excellent. The snack bar and beach bar were both excellent for lunch. I could go on but enough is enough!!
