My family just returned from a 10 day stay at Beaches Negril Sept 18th - 27th. I wanted to leave a detailed review of our experience while everything is still fresh on my mind. We traveled as a family of 4 (our sons ages 18th months and 5 years old) along with other members of our family that were attending our wedding (9) total. We used Club Mobay after arriving in Montego Bay. The process was seamless and based on how quickly we were able to get through the COVID screening process and customs well worth the money. We never actually stepped foot in the club, we chose to use the Sandals club instead while we waited for our transportation to the resort. I would estimate from landing to boarding the transportation bus was less than an hour. Before getting into the transportation we grabbed an overpriced bucket of red stripe at the airport ($30) for 6 beers if I remember correctly. A few road sodas made the ride more enjoyable. The ride to the resort was about an hour to an hour and a half. The driver was very knowledgeable and took the time to point out everything worthwhile. I believe each couple tipped the driver $10. After arriving at the resort around 3PM we were greeted at the check in desk and provided with fresh towels. We were immediately offered a free room upgrade. We essentially traded a smaller first floor walk out room for a larger second floor room. The extra space was nice and the view was better. I don’t know the actual name of the room but it had a single king-sized bed, a couch that pulled out into a bed (where my 5-year-old son slept) and a crib for our 18th month old. Our room (418) had a nice distant view of the ocean and overlooked the kids play area. It was centrally located which made it really easy to get to everything quickly. Our wedding was Sept 20th. My wife could provide more specific details regarding the wedding planning process. She experienced a few communication hiccups but she said the overall experience was good. On Sat the 19th we met with the wedding coordinator (Nickay) to finalize selections, confirm details and walk the property to check out the locations of the ceremony and reception. Our original wedding month was May. Once the resort was closed due to COVID we rebooked for September. Beaches was very accommodating and essentially kept all of our wedding selections and pricing locked in. Our original guest count of 35 was cut to 15 guests which forced us to make several changes to the wedding options. Nickay was awesome and made recommendations for last second changes to décor, cake selection and other details. We originally opted to not have a videographer but changed our mind after walking the property and realizing how beautiful the location was. Our wedding experience was absolutely amazing. Everything in life is based on expectations and our wedding day far exceeded anything we could have imagined. The ceremony and reception locations were located directly on the beach. At around 4pm. Weather was absolutely gorgeous including the amazing sunset. The resort wedding staff was incredible and walked us through every single step of the process. I would highly recommend considering Beaches Negril as a destination wedding location. Our photographer was Anthony. He somehow managed to get both of our children (again ages 18 mos. and 5 yrs. old) to not only sit still but also smile during our photo shoot. A nearly impossible task that he made look easy. We took a series of photos in the courtyard and on the beach. Our wedding photos were incredible. The videographer did her thing in the background. We were extremely happy with the quality of the photos and the custom wedding video. A few days after the wedding we had an appointment with the photography team to review our photos and make our final selections for the package we selected. The staff was extremely patient during the process (roughly 2 hours) We were in a comfortable air-conditioned room with champagne so I didn’t have any complaints. Feedback on the overall resort and experiences The resort is essentially empty. I heard a rumor from a staff member that there were only 50 people checked in mid-week. On numerous occasions we were the only family on the beach. Literally not another guest in sight. I never once waited for a drink at a bar. We were able to walk into most restaurants without a reservation (the exception was the Venetian) I went scuba diving a total of 8 times and other than the hand full of times my wife went I was the only person on the boat. I didn’t make a single reservation to dive. I would literally walk up to the dive shop and tell them that I wanted to dive. The staff were mostly sitting around waiting for people to show up. I complete my advanced scuba certification in two days (5 dives required). I loved having the resort almost entirely to ourselves. If you want your own personal resort for a week now is the time to go. We managed to visit every restaurant. The food was excellent across the board. We didn’t experience a bad meal while we were there. The key thing I wanted to mention is that my 5-year-old son as well as the children who attended our wedding were very picky eaters. Regardless of what restaurant we were eating at the staff was more than willing to get food from Mariachi or the BBQ place and bring it to the restaurant. This might be common amongst most family resorts but I was impressed with how accommodating the staff was. Also, worth mentioning that the buffet is closed due to COVID. When you eat breakfast at the Mill it’s the same menu as stew fish. I don’t believe there was lunch of dinner server at the Mill. The breakfast selections were excellent so I didn’t mind. All of the kids loved the frozen yogurt place. BBQ place was open until 3am which is great for late night snacks. Our favorite staff member at the Mill was Tashka. She was so nice and my kids loved her. I think with the resort being so empty is was easy to make friends with the staff members. She went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. In terms of cleanliness the resort is spotless. Guests are required to sanitize before entering any area of the resort. All staff members wear masks and practice social distancing. Some guests wore masks but most didn’t. We chose not to. The are various signs explain the resorts COVID health protocols. Our temperatures were taken each time we dropped off and picked up our children from the child care center. Our room was fresh and clean when we arrived and the daily cleaning staff did a great job of cleaning the disaster our kids left in the room each day. Entertainment and Extras We spent a lot of time with the crew at the dive shop / water sports area. On three separate occasions we chartered boats to various locations. Our first trip was a cave scuba trip with a stop at Ricks Café. The crew on the boat was amazing especially (Fabian) Our group was roughly 12 people. We needed to literally swim from the boat to the ladder to get to ricks. Not a long-distance swim by any means. Fabian swam my youngest son on his back from the boat to the platform at Ricks. The captain of the boat hung out while we had lunch. We asked Fabian to join us. I’m not the kind of person who can eat and leave the staff behind. It was great to have him join our family and friends for lunch. Half of our group jumped off of the cliff before getting back on the boat and heading back to the resort. The entire trip was 3-4 hours. The boat staff provided rum punch and finger sandwiches, snacks and juice for the kids. Our second trip was to the western most point of the island. We booked this trip through the dive shop as well. We inquired about bringing a nanny on the trip to sit with the smaller kids while we did snorkeling. A staff member of the dive shop Caveen offered her services. She came on the boat trip and sat with the children while we snorkeled in a different cave. We requested to stop for lunch at a place called Fireman’s lobster pit. The place was amazing. We ordered grilled lobster tails. The staff from the boat (Caveen, Creton and some dude I think they called Perrywinkle lol) joined us for lunch. What an awesome group of people who were so helpful with the kids. They made our trip so enjoyable. Caveen was literally a nanny for the afternoon sitting with our children while we ate and hanging out with them on the beach while I threw mixed drinks down my throat. Our third trip was an adult only sunset cruise. We utilized the nanny service for the 4 kids. $20 per hour it was a no brainer and the kids had a blast. Creton and Alex took our group of 8 adults on the glass bottom boat for a chill cruise on the water. Sunset was perfect. We crushed a few jugs of rum punch and some finger foods. Awesome way to chill out without the kids. We took a little ride by the hedonism resort for a good laugh. It wasn’t an official snorkeling trip but we jumped off the boat for a swim anyways. The dive shop will literally customize any boat trip that you want for a reasonable price. We were able to negotiate fair prices for all three trips. It probably helped that the resort is so empty. I recommend chartering a boat through the dive shop for some run off resort activities. I can’t say enough good things about Kimberly, Hakeem, Creton, Alex and Fabian. Those guys made out trip. Scuba was amazing. We live in Rhode Island so diving anywhere is great compared to the murky crap water around here. Each dive in Negril was beautiful with crystal clear water. Our dive instructors were Kimberly and on occasion Hakeem. Both were very nice and knowledgeable. My wife and I did a variety of dives including a deep shipwreck dive, some drift dives and a few adventure dives where we could scuba through some small caverns. There was always plenty of cool sea life to encounter. The captain of the boat Valentine was a cool guy. I can’t say that the diving was any better than the previous places that I have been diving (Florida Keys or Mexico) but the water was clear and warm and we enjoyed ourselves. We took a refresher class in the pool because we hadn’t been diving in several years since our kids were born. It was worth the time before hitting the ocean. The night after our wedding I surprised my wife with a candle light dinner on the beach. Our waiter was Shane and my man was on point with everything. Our table was setup on the beach on a perfect night. Very romantic setup and my wife was amazed. The food and service were amazing. We were able to pre-pick our menu items before arriving. The ambiance, service and food were top notch and well worth the money. They even have some upgrade options such as roses and champagne that I took advantage of. Shane was also our waiter both times that we ate at the Venetian. By the time we left the resort he knew exactly what we liked and made our experiences incredible. My wife works for a fine dining establishment in Providence and we told Shane that if he ever moves to the states she would get him a job at her restaurant. I also wanted to mention some member so the entertainment staff Adrian T and Michael both of whom we chilled with on several occasions. You can find these dudes dancing by the pool or on the various beach parties. He always spent time dancing with my kids and made them feel included. Adrian is the dude to go see if you need anything. Bar staff make sure you visit my dude shaunoozie. My whole family fell in love with Shaun and would post up at whatever bar he was working at on that particular night. He made great drinks and was a great dude to sit and talk with. A valuable asset to that resort who deserves recognition. Tipping – Screw what Beaches says I always tip extra for the people who make your stay special. I never felt pressured to tip anyone but you could see the genuine gratitude when you tip someone a little extra. Ignore the stupid buttons that the staff members wear. It’s no secret that many of those staff members aren’t paid well. $5 here or there wont kill you. Don’t be cheap. Overall this was an amazing experience. 10 days felt like 2. The resort offers everything and most importantly my kids had the time of their lives. That’s the most important thing. If the kids aren’t happy the parents aren’t happy. Friendly staff, gorgeous resort and great food. Can’t say enough about the beach and the sunset. Money well spent and we will be back as soon as possible. Final suggestion for the dads my favorite thing to do after the family went to bed was to grab a cigar and some red stripes from my room, grab some food from the BBQ joint and post up on the beach to relax. So peaceful having a smoke and watching the lighting in the distance.

From the moment we arrived at this resort, we knew this would be a special trip. The staff overall at this resort were always ready to bend over backwards to cater to my family's needs. It definitely wasn't easy to get here due to the hardships of the authorization process, but let me assure you it was worth it. If you are hesitating at all if you should travel here right now, don't hesitate. Here are the reasons you should pick this family resort over others: ~It's compact, yet not too small. Even during a pandemic when they are at very low capacity, this resort still had everything open for their guests to enjoy (which I'm sure is very hard to do right now). Many resorts are closing some pools and buildings down, but not Beaches Negril. I loved how compact it was. My husband and I could sit and eat our pizza at the pool and be able to watch our son play at the waterpark, lazy river, and waterslides and we could view him at all of those locations. You are only steps away from everything. ~THE BEACH IS GORGEOUS. Our favorite time of the day was breakfast at Stewfish while we viewed the beach. our son would play in the sand while we sipped our coffee and realized how blessed we were. This is what a vacation is made of. This beach is just gorgeous. So clear and not too rough. Starfish everywhere <3 ~The food was one of the best we've had at Beaches/Sandals. The pizza was for sure the best and we've been to numerous Dino's. It was perfection. Venetian was delicious and the drinks were always top notch. ~I have to end with the staff. Thank you so much for your warm welcome and smiles, Raven and Lucene. You two were probably the sweetest and warmest people we dealt with the whole time. We also got to talk with Nickesha and she was top notch. Shout outs to Adrian H, Kemar, and Natali at the bar. Natali kept us coming with her amazing drinks and we were impressed with how Adrian and Kemar went out of their way to help us and our son (Kemar having to run to get milk for him before the bar even opened. That's service). We adored Neiko at watersports and our friends did as well. He has it all---service, smiles, energy, and he obviously has passion for what he does. My son loved watching his skills at the waterslide and we can't stop talking about out fun time there with him. Great job Beaches. We will be back.

We just got back from our second trip to this Beaches resort. It was exactly as we remembered (perfect) plus more. Here are some things that stood out: COVID cleaning- Every time anyone in the resort used anything or sat in anything it was cleaned and sanitized immediately. The staff were constantly wiping everything down and cleaning the rooms. All staff members had on masks and stayed away from guests during pictures. They also shut down the kids camp and xbox lounge to sanitize multiple times a day which was nice to see. Bartenders- Our family was pleased with the service and the bartenders were always friendly when our 2 younger boys would order smoothie drink after smoothie drink. One of our favorites is Kamar. She typically works the family pool bar. She has a big smile and makes some of the best drinks. Another favorite is Shanoozie. He served us in the Italian restaurant and then on the beachfront bar. He is very chatty and friendly and made us feel right at home. Kids camp- Most of the counselors remembered our boys from our last visit a year ago. One staff member that really stood out was Krystal. The kids appreciate the break from all the sun and even got to participate in activities like exercising with Elmo, building a volcano, learning numbers and letter and some painting for the older ones. We use the kids camp for a couple of hours during the day and then again at night to have time to enjoy the sunset kid free and get ready for dinner. Some other stand out staff members included: Kevan who is one of the BEST lifeguards. Because there are very few families on property my oldest son was missing kids to play with all the time. Kevan and Colton (our son) ended up playing multiple day by racing across the pool, down the slides and Kevan would time Colton while he swam to keep him engaged and entertained while he was the only kid at the pool. Giselle who took WONDERFUL care of us. This is the first time that we had the concierge level service and we will NEVER miss out on that level of service again. She found us multiple times a day to make sure everything was okay and to make sure we got the catamaran cruise that we earned while booking. She went above and beyond on multiple occasions to make sure our visit was perfect. Shamoya is on the entertainment team and is SO much fun. They call her energy and there is not a more fitting description for her. She was dancing the night away with our kids and you could feel the positive energy from her! Michael was with us for multiple excursions including teaching my husband to use a sailing boat and then again helping us with other water activities. He was very friendly, always willing to help and patient with us while we learned. Vanessa served us multiple nights/mornings in different restaurants and always went above and beyond. She was so friendly even when our two kids were whiney and unsure about what they wanted to eat :) Last but not least, Lesmore had to be one of the most stand out employees at the Beaches Negril resort. I cannot begin to list all of the ways he went out of his way to make sure our stay was perfect. One example included my 2 year old wanting a donut for breakfast. When Lesmore found out that the restaurant didn't have any on hand he went across the resort to get one only to find out the bakery had ran out. He didn't stop there. He then had them make some and found us about 1 1/2 hours later at a pool across the resort and gave the donut to Chandler. Talk about AMAZING service. He was so kind to our family on both trips and really stood out.

Traveling during the pandemic was a wholly different experience, and worth the extra steps and extra anxiety. We had to take a covid test, that was way easier than we expected. Drive through with no waiting and results returned in a couple of days. Uploaded the Jamaica travel authorization form with the results, and then had a little bit of concern, as the authorization was not granted until after we landed at our connecting airport and the night before our arrival day. The resort was about 15% of capacity. Kids had the waterslides almost to themselves. Restaurants were almost all open and we had no issues with social distancing. I thought I would miss the Jamaican smiles from the staff, but the warmth of the people was still evident in their eyes and verbal greetings. I think we are now spoiled from the week of having the resort to ourselves. It appeared that very little was pared down. The late night activity may have been curtailed put the kids wore us out every day anyway, so nothing missed for the adults. Looking forward to returning to Jamaica next year in December when "all is well".

My husband and I love coming to Jamaica and staying at Sandals resorts. The bartenders can make or break it - we just stayed at Sandals Negril resort. Chris at the Piano Bar is very welcoming and we enjoyed our afternoons drinks and time spent there. Thanks Chris!
