Personally, I am not a bug fan of all inclusive resorts.... Well, in the midst of pandemics, the mindset changes somewhat. Beggars cannot be choosers! We were happy to get out for a week in Jamaica. Beaches, as part of Sandals family, is an obvious choice, for ultra all inclusive. Ocho Rios is a longish close to 2 hour drive from Montego Bay Airport. Sandals and Beaches has a good private transfer, so no long wait. Everything went very well. Two things set Beaches apart: truly all inclusive with myriad of watersports, entertainment and food options for adults and kids, and excellent service that goes above and beyond. Special thank you to Charles, Mike, Brian, and Dukel that made our trip special. The rooms are spacious, bit slightly dated. The beach is not wide and long for my taste, and the swimming area is limited and confined. All watersports were fun, and so was waterpark for the kids. All other child activities were good and diverse. Service and food in the restaurants were mostly high quality. Coffee and included wines were unremarkable for my taste, but they had good top shelf liquor, so no major complaints there. All in all, excellent vacation with F&F.

Our trip got off to a rocky start with a wait in the lobby for our room, a couple days of bad weather (no water activities), broken USB charger plugs in the room, a phone that didn't work sometimes, some staff that appeared annoyed to be there, and a cranky aquatics employee (Peta-Gaye) who insisted I had to have a note from my doctor before scuba diving, though I've been diving for 19 years and not once been asked for a doctor's note. (If Beaches had guests complete the form and address any issues before arrival, it would've been most helpful. There's nothing like being in another country and trying to arrange your doctor to send a note on Easter weekend or pay Beaches $199 to have their doctor see you. Fortunately, I have a wonderful doctor who sent an email with a letter attached right away. Otherwise, Peta-Gaye's refusal to listen would have ruined our trip or cost us an additional $199!). Having said all that, DUSHANE at the front desk immediately arranged for us to use his personal charger so we could charge our devices, the weather got better, and the rest of the aquatics staff (and my dr) made up for Peta-Gaye's issues. PAUL was a fantastic doorman; friendly and efficient. ASANYA, our housekeeper, was a pure joy, talking with our family while she cleaned, making us feel very welcome! KELLY-ANN was exceptionally friendly, making fantastic omelettes to order. RAYMOND and COURTNEY from Neptunes served up delicious food with a fantastic attitude; both were friendly and professional. SIMONE at the crepes place was my sons' favorite. While the staff at BBQ was a mess, taking forever and messing up orders, the rest of the restaurants served good food with personable, attentive staff. A few more servers to assist at the buffet would've been helpful. Finally, the aquatics team rocked! MERVIN, MUSCLES (OSHANE), SHORT BOSS, ROGER, CASINE, ALEX, EERY (AND HIS TALL COMPANION WHO TOOK US SNORKELING), ALEX AND JEROME were professional and personable, turning our stay from challenging into a memorable, fun vacation!

Beaches Ocho Rios is another amazing location for families. The facility is small, but has SO MUCH to offer. The facility, employees and staff, and food/drinks were amazing. Covid protocols were followed throughout our stay, and to be honest: I felt SAFER here than I do at home in New York. Stay in a concierge room, take advantage of a private dinner on the beach or the pier, and just enjoy yourself. Special thank you to Sasame and Dukel for taking such great care of me and my family during our stay. Other than the drive from Montego Bay airport, I cannot find anything that I could even suggest could be better.

We just returned from what should have been 7 nights in OR to 24 hours! The hotel and staff was in dire need of an overhaul. Majority of the staff was absolutely miserable and clearly did not want to be there. The resort is showing it’s age and not being maintained. My kids feet and legs were covered in paint chips from the waterpark, as well as red marks from all the slides. Our family room was right next to the lobby and had zero sound proofing. I thought there was an alarm going off to learn it was the crickets! I asked to be moved and there was nothing until the following day available. I decided to make the best of it and hope Monday to be in a better room. That evening we waited 20 min at the Venetian and left since no hostess ever showed up. I was told from others they were finally sat 45 min later!! We ended up eating at the French restaurant, where I was told I could be waitlisted and sat in a hour!!!! After I complained they magically sat us 10 min later at one of the 15 empty tables. I ordered shrimp cocktail and the bouillabaisse. Neither was fresh or edible. The kids however were happy with ice cream, but they only had vanilla!!! What resort only has 1 flavor?! The following day we were the first to arrive at the buffet. We sat for 20 min and were ignored while others were served drinks and were getting their food. Finally we received a cold pot of coffee, no milk and empty water glasses. At the buffet the servers were very unhappy serving the food, they were clearly annoyed they had to do this bc of COVID. My husband was beside himself and wouldn’t even leave the room. How could this resort brand themselves Beaches and be this bad??! Following breakfast and anxiously awaiting 1pm for a room change I sat in Pirates Island watching the kids on the slides. Finally, a staff member asked me how the stay was going and I shared a bit of what had transpired. I don’t recall her name, but she immediately took action and contacted Mike. I don’t know his official role, but Mike was amazing. He also took immediate action and came back to me with an option to go to another Beaches property. We decided to go for it and thankfully it was fabulous. So fabulous we already booked again for next year! So I gave it 2 stars because they did fix things after I complained, however, I don’t expect to spend my vacation complaining! OR is their least expensive resort, however it is not priced as a budget property. IMO, the price needs to be dramatically dropped or it needs a huge improvement!

Not worth the price more like 3 stars

Thanks for the welcome home. It is great to be back. I can give you plenty of feedback, I travel alot and this is definitely not a 5 star resort. To start, Club Mobay was definitely not worth the money. The lines were not long so I think we would have gone through within 15 mins without. The club they brought us to on arrival was 4 small tables, with 2 chairs at each. They maybe had 4 options to chose from ham n cheese, chicken salad, a few pastries and choice if rum push, soda or water. No chips or snacks. We literally where there for 5mins and they said the shuttle was ready so we rushed out to literally wait 20-30 mins for shuttle. Shuttle was uneventful, nice gentleman, pointed out facts along the way and we were the only family which was nice. Checked in resort they bring u to couch, offer you champagne, fruit punch or water. Then someone comes by 10 mins later says room not ready but I'll bring you to lunch. We ate lunch went back to lobby which we got soaked since the boys didn't like the food at buffet so we went to BBQ rest. First time food was great, we enjoyed it. We schlep back to lobby to check on room several times finally after 3rd try I asked for a Mgr. Half hr later still mo Mgr, so every staff member that walked by I would ask if they were Mgr. None ever showed up or called. Then finally the 3rd person I spoke to got us our room. It wasn't a garden view overlooked a roof and the teen Xbox club and kids club. The rooms are outdated, the toilet paper holder fell off wall, the Safe got errored out had to call maintenance, bathroom had paint spots on woodwork under sink. We had no wifi almost the entire day. I called and the said they would call me right back, didn't happen. Waited 1/2 hr the gentleman I spoke with said he'd call me right back which he did. He said the internet was down which I didn't understand so it made it difficult to catch up with friends. The food was marginal at best. The activities Not as advertised. No aqua trikes, or jet skiing. Most of the Week had the red flag ?? up so no water activities. The beach was disgusting first two days tons of garbage, branches and debris all in the water and beach. The showers by the ocean to rinse off both didn't work. I couldn't dive since they wanted a drs note and what 5 star hotel doesn't have a fax machine. My Dr would only send by fax. That's when I lost my mind and demanded a Mgr. I spoke with Mike and all he offered was to change my room which ended up being a much nicer view. However, the fan was very loud in room, the slider to deck wouldn't lock and the light on the phone wouldn't stop blinking. The phone randomly rang twice one night late after I ordered a wake up call but the front desk couldn't figure out why. The staff at the restaurants were very nice and accommodating and they did do a nice job with civid protocols. The nightly entertainment was ok. The piano bar only had piano player 3 nights, 1 hr each time. Why have a piano bar? Everything shut down by 10 p.m.except the piano bar and BBQ rest. There was no "true" room service you could call to order but you had to go pick it up. The BBQ rest never got the orders right , you had a 50% chance of accuracy. The fries and onion rings were always cold and soggy. No chips or snacks just whatever the rest had. I had a bag of chocolate candies for friends son for Easter I guess the maid thought it was hers since it was gone when I got back to room to give to him at dinner. Not A lot of options for dinner reservations, always seemed to be able to get them during the showtime. The key cards demagnitized every day so u always had to go back to lobby to get a new set of keys. And I don't know how the call themselves a 5 star resort. At best it is a 3. And the wait for lunch we were told 20 mins but in most cases it was an hour to hour and half and never was right. Ran out if btl water one day. I think we should be comp'd
