Paradise!

sidneysmith06 (Exeter, United Kingdom) on May 01, 2024

We recently returned from 12 nights at this amazing hotel. We had the best time. We stayed in a Garden Bungalow which was lovely, very roomy with a big walk in shower. Our room attendant, Verne, kept our room spotless and always has a lovely smile. We would like to thank her for taking good care of us! Jafree is a real character. We enjoyed the Wednesday morning walk to the lighthouse with him and also Saturday morning power walk on the beach followed by yoga. Jafree is a mine of information and such an asset to the hotel. The waiting staff are also great. Everyone was helpful and friendly and we enjoyed Brendan and Princess’s company greatly. Reception, the gardeners, maintenance are also exceptional. Everyone works so hard in extreme temperatures and they aren’t as lucky as us guests being able to jump in the pool…… apart from Jafree who could get in to teach aquacise! The food is good, especially breakfast. Drinks are plentiful and the cocktails are very tasty. Views gorgeous and lots to do around the area. Enjoyed pigeon island and a couple of boat trips. We transferred from the airport by boat which was amazing. Highly recommend.

Great all inclusive St Lucian resort

Candace L on Apr 29, 2024

I highly enjoyed my stay at Bel Jou. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. Princess is the sweetest and such a fun person to see at the resort. The food and drinks were great. The resorts offered a free shuttle to the beach and shopping.

Nice place, not for adventurers

CreditcardandID (Washington DC, District of Columbia) on Apr 29, 2024

In case you think that the designation "adults only resort" suggests some kind of excitement, let me disabuse you of that straightaway. This is a place whose clientele is dominated by middle-aged empty nester Brits, a perfectly nice bunch of people, but not known for rustling up a wild time. And the management is old-fashioned conservative. Of the younger guys who were present, a significant number wore sleeveless tank tops in the tropical heat, but head for lunch dressed that way? You'll be sent packing and told to put on a proper shirt. This despite the fact that women are perfectly welcome to sit and eat exposing as much shoulder as they want. The good points: the staff are super-friendly and helpful and the resort is all-inclusive: food and booze are bottomless and included in the price. Many people mention the views and they are indeed magnificent. But the location at the top of steep hilly roads means you're probably going to stay in the resort most of the time unless you have a rental car or excursions which include a pick up. Walking down to the town and back in the searing heat is something you may do once, but will never repeat. Also, while the location is very close to the airport, it's a 90-minute drive on a tortuous mountain road to the island's main attractions: the Pitons, the sulfurous volcano and the mud pools. After negotiating that road once I decided that was enough; so I would have seen more of the island if I'd stayed somewhere further south around Soufriere. Bottom line: the Bel Jou is a nice environment with beautiful grounds and pools, included food and drink and lovely staff. But if you want to do more than just sunbathing and imbibing, you might want to find a more southerly location, preferably one closer to sea level. And guys, dress properly for goodness sake! ;-)

Lovely quiet and relaxed hotel with excellent staff and food.

Chris S (Northants, England) on Apr 28, 2024

Wonderful relaxed environment backed up by great quality food and fantastic staff. Adults only with low key entertainment most nights except BBQ night with Steel Band and Fire Eaters/Limbo which was superb. This is a small hotel which makes it easy to chat to other guests if you wish. Hotel is located at the top of a hill which gives fantastic views but does mean you are somewhat limited for walks out. However they do offer shuttles down to Castries and the beach and there is a rep present most days who can arrange trips out. Highly Recommended.

Incredible holiday

Sarah M on Apr 27, 2024

Well what can I say that hasn’t already been said about this fantastic place?! We booked through blue bay travel and got a great deal, I have to admit reading previous reviews I wasn’t sure a hotel could live up to the hype…. O boy I was wrong! Like others have said, the transfer is about 90 mins and filled with some interesting roads let’s say! Just trust the drivers. But it’s a hilly, windy journey. Once there we were helped to our room by Quincy, a garden bungalow. At first I wasn’t sure about being away from the main building, but we actually loved it in the end, just being tucked away. Our room was big, clean and nicely decorated. Great walk in shower too. Few teething issues with AC which got sorted within about 30 mins of ringing reception which was brilliant. We preferred the lower pool of the two. But both were fine, we liked having the self serve bar, and filled our cooler water bottles all day from There ( also a beer or two not to be rude!) Didn’t do any of the activities but Jafree was always pleasant and not pushy to join in with things. The veg patch over the bottom railing of the lower pool grew a variety of things, which was nice to see as I believe this is all used in the dishes. The grounds are immaculate and the staff are always doing something, whether it’s sweeping leaves, fixing a fence, painting. It never seemed to stop, and they always stopped to say hello. The room was always left spotless and fresh towels when we needed them. You could get pool towels from Lulu’s snack bar aswell. The cocktails were yummy, my fav being the strawberry martini. The food can take some time at peak lunch time in Lulus, but that’s to be expected. It was always lovely when it finally appeared. Ate in the main restaurant aswell a few times for lunch and that was always nice too. Used the shuttle to use the beach one morning, it was lovely and there’s a lady that helps watch over your stuff whilst your there. Be careful of the waves. We saw 4 people get caught out and lose their sunglasses with unexpected waves in one morning! The food was so nice, there’s less choice than your average AI. But we always found something we liked, and the pancakes and French toast in the morning? Absolutely beautiful! The staff were great. The guests we spoke to and got to know were lovely, it’s such a nice chilled vibe, it was great to chat to people that you would never normally meet. The bbq and fire dancer night was fun! We sat quite close and it got very hot haha! Did an all day excursion through the rep based at the hotel. Carnival bean to bar was its name. It was brilliant, chocolate making, mud baths. Snorkelling and a sunset cruise, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience of St Lucia. All in all, one of the best hotels and holidays we’ve ever been on and gutted to be home. Just go! But as someone else said, let’s keep this beautiful gem of Castries a secret ?? Thank you bell jou and staff, you were amazing
