Wasted time & money

Not much choices of food, only 3 restaurants which have the same menu everyday. Drinks are not great. Accommodations horrible

An Utter Disappointment. Never to Return.

Melicia G on Apr 29, 2024

A comprehensive overhaul of the service standards of the hotel is desperately required. All staff, at all levels desperately require training/retraining in customer service skills & standards. From arrival to departure after 3 days & 2 nights, far too many of the staff were unpleasant & inflexible. We arrived early on the day of check in due to misinformation by our booking agent, which we readily acknowledged and apologized for. At 1st we were denied entry even to the property to wait in the parking lot & we were told by the security at the gate that we would have to wait outside the property for the 2+ hours till check in. After the insistence of our driver that he couldn't leave us on the side of the road, we were let in to wait in the lobby. The babies with us were hungry & we asked if they could eat until we checked in & were told no, then that we would have to pay about USD$60 then we were told the manager/supervisor who was nowhere in sight had to approve. The general dining area is grossly understaffed in relation to servers which resulted in inordinate wait times for utensils, teas or beverages for our 3 day stay. On Saturday in particular, the young lady assigned for breakfast actually mumbled & displayed annoyance when our group asked for assistance with a few items. Her deference however was obvious when it came to assisting those guests from overseas. Who knows? Perhaps it was the fact that we were both local & black that drew her ire at having to provide us with what we needed, thereby distracting her from assisting those capable of tipping her in foreign currencies. In some instances we simply helped ourselves. Added to all this, the main food area ran out of food not once or twice but THREE times during my 3 day stay; first on Saturday night when it was served on the terrace and then again on Sunday, in the morning and at lunch. There was an abundance of starches/sides and absolutely no protein. No fish, no chicken, no meat whatsoever unless you were having pasta done to order. And when I asked the persons seen coming in and out of the kitchen, no one could help. How does a hotel in Jamaica not even have ackee and saltfish in abundance for breakfast? The saddest thing is that I have stayed at this hotel in the past and I was pleased with my stay. Whatever has happened over the years has not been for its best.

Better than expected

Go with an open mind and do not believe all the negative reviews. I truly believe that some people expect a 3 star to be a 5 star and get bent out of shape over very trivial things and dwell on minor negativities and let it ruin their trip. My husband, our daughter, and I had a fantastic week. We had a Hisbiscus Room and were super-happy with it. Lots of hot water, the A/C worked amazing, the daily cleaning was great, and we never had issues getting bottled water, toilet paper, or clean towels. My daughter and I loved the Quiet Pool and it was a huge bonus having a room right beside it. A huge shout-out to Patricia the pool bartender! She was always pleasant, interesting to talk to, and made the best banana slush! WE read a lot of negative things about the food and we are calling B.S! Fresh fruit was always plentiful, the variety of food was good, there were always meat/fish choices, and the desserts were good. The ala cartes were very good. The best day was when they had the BBQ and did jerk chicken and pork chops. It was an absolute treat, along with all the amazing side dishes. We are pretty picky eaters, but never went hungry because there was always something we liked. They are a bit slow clearing tables, but I suspect it's due to being understaffed. The only negative comment I have is the coffee was awful! If you are a lover of high quality coffee- do yourself a favor and bring a French press & a bag of good ground coffee! The one thing that made leaving our vacation easier was knowing that there is a Starbucks in the airport! By the end of the week, I would have sold my soul for a tall dark roast. The beach was small but well-maintained. The water was like a warm bath, but a little rough due to high winds. Both of the pools were great, but we preferred to Quiet Pool. All of the staff we encountered were pleasant, friendly and approachable. Overall, this place had a great vibe and I'm sure we'll return again.

Not for kids at all due to insufficient menu

cjam P on Apr 28, 2024

Basic Caribbean Experience with absolutely no food for kids! Unless you like stew and dumplings, rice, burnt shredded smoked bacon, with toast in the morning, than it's worth a visit. No food at all for kids so I'd really trust me on that one! No kids nothing, pizza, not even fries, fish fingers, nuggets,.... Nothing. Just adult food which they were sick of after speaking to a lot of guests. Situated on a bay, which is private and nice which is a shame. Rooms very very basic, unsecured, and desperately need a refurb. If you want a budget hols to the carribean, then this is it. But don't expect even 3 star. Manager unavailable to comment when asked to speak to...!

Disappointing beyond belief.

Didn't get off to the best start when our coach driver from MBJ told us that he had to pick up his friend Popcorn on the way to taking us to our hotels, his friend did get on the bus and thought it was ok to sell weed on the coach, both had a very abrupt manner , I know people were intimidated by this. Then we get to our room and its ant infested? Go for dinner and the dining room staff are next to useless, end up getting your own cutlery, napkins and water, same at breakfast and lunch. They want you to tip them before your served, not how we do it, we tip if we've had good service. My advise would be don't go off the complex unless you really have or go on an excursion, but be prepared to tip everyone who you come into contact with, be it drivers, tour guides etc. What they pass off as entertainment is a joke and the entertainment team are very self indulgent and play what they want to hear, very very loudly and very very late. Beaches are beautiful and complex grounds are beautiful. I personally will not be going back.
