Manager Roger Arboleda & staff (ALL staff-day & night) were welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. Had to be in upper Eastside 25 days for treatment so the MM was a real find! Not fancy but huge rooms where everything worked..great bed, shower, full kitchen. I’m allergic to cats & dogs so was nervous about the rooms since the MM is pet-friendly. Our room was very clean and I had no allergic reaction whatsoever..no trace of animals. Matt & Jessica front desk were great as were the day & evening concierge guys. The rate was more than fair and I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended!

My wife and I visit our son and family the UES a few times a year. We have been staying at another hotel, but decided to try the Marmara this time. We will probably come back in the future, depending mainly on price. Our room - or rather, our suite - was very roomy. There was a kitchen with full-size fridge, oven, dishwasher (!), dishes, etc. The living room and bedroom were spacious. The bathroom was larger than many I've seen in New York. Cleanliness was a bit of a concern. The freezer compartment in the fridge had a big smear of what appeared to be grape jelly, and I found Cheeto crumbs on the floor in the living room. The counter in the bathroom didn't look great, but that may have been the stone the counter was made of. Our room could have used updating. The furniture was serviceable, but institutional. Some pops of color here and there would make a big difference.

Initial check-in at any hotel holds primary perception, suggestion...maybe hire staff that show a bit of care. These people are in essence the face of the hotel. I walked in, and dealt with someone with a terrible attitude and 0 personality. This is coming from a pretty chill person which says a lot, the immediate disdain I now have for the hotel is 1000% from my initial interaction. Rooms were well decorated and the location is prime, as humans social interaction is still a big component of any decision. I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.

Let's start with the positives. The hotel is in a great location if you want to be on the Upper East Side, the staff is exceptionally nice and helpful, the rooms are clean and well-sized, each unit has a kitchen, and the price is reasonable. We were upgraded without asking and at no cost. On the other hand, the rooms could use some updating. The sofa bed we had in our unit was terribly thin, soft, and had springs pushing through. The units are sparsely decorated and could probably use a new carpet and furnishings. Maybe even a picture or two on the wall. We would stay there again if visiting that part of Manhattan.

    Misleading and poor customer service

I booked this hotel using Hotels.com.. I chose it due to location, as there are not many options on the Upper East Side of Manhattan where I needed to stay and the very nice pictures on Hotels.com.. The alternative was a Courtyard Marriott which was less expensive but I thought I would treat myself to a Boutique Hotel. When I arrived and got to my room I was shocked that it looked nothing like the pictures I saw. I complained downstairs and got the impression that I was not the first person who had this complaint. That said, I was told the studios were all the same so no need to change rooms and the only person who could do anything else for me was the manager, Roger, who was not available till the next day. When I left the next morning, I asked for Roger but he was not in yet. I asked if he could call me but that was not an option. So the next day, I asked for him and he was not scheduled to arrive that day till 9:30. So, all I could do was call him and he said that he understood but that I needed to speak with Hotels.com (since that is who I made the reservation with) and they could request compensation from him and he implied he would be able to do something to make this right. I called Hotels.com 2X and they said they could not get in touch with Roger but that the hotel said that they could not do anything. I did get some relief from Hotels.com but I must say that not only was this false advertising but Roger lied to me. Bottom line.....do not believe the pictures and if you need to be on the Upper East Side, choose the Courtyard Marriott!
