A very nice hotel, first class all the way. Fairly priced as well for top level stay. We love the grand old hotels and always try to find one when we travel, the food was quite good, but there are a few good local places to eat as well. We will stay here again.

My boyfriend highly recommended this and said that we should treat ourselves. We are normally okay staying at a $90 big brand one because we really only need a bed, shower and wifi. So we decided to stay here—luckily for us we just missed the 9-5 water shut off but I needed a quick shower before attending a dinner that evening so I couldn’t get hot water. Very frustrating, and something guest need to be verbally. There was just a note left on the nightstand. Not good enough. Went to bed around 11pm, 11:30 the city starts cutting pavement outside. Sounded inside like a huge vacuum running constantly, contacted front desk and they said it “caught them by surprise”.... I call bs. There were scaffolding out there when we checked in so work was being done previously and in my experience the city will certainly let lodging places know of this stuff, offered me ear plugs or a fan to drown out the noise, again, not good enough. Lovely building, clean, staff are friendly.

We stayed here at the end of our 3 week holiday and used it as a base to visit our relatives. Prior to arriving had read the trip adviser reviews and were wondering if we had made the wrong choice. We had absolutely no issues at all with the hotel, room, staff or restaurant. The rooms we had was not huge but it was spotlessly clean, warm and the bathroom was fine. Bed was comfortable but there was some slight road noise but it wasn’t intrusive or sleep disturbing (we were on 6th floor) - but did make sure we weren’t at the rear of the hotel when we checked in because of the comments re the train line. The bar and restaurant is reasonably priced compared to the local restaurants and the staff were very friendly and helpful in menu/drink choices etc. However we did choose to have breakfast at another local restaurant as you got more for your money. The pool and spa area are also very good. Hotel is centrally located close to the large mall, museums and river plus close to loads of restaurants. The parking is a bit of an issue as the valet service is expensive and whilst they parked the car when we arrived, it had reappeared on the street 3 hours later when we returned from a walk, saying we had called for it, which we hadn’t. As we’d hired it from Avis in Kelowna, the local Avis office is just down the street, with parking in the multi storey above, we parked it ourselves near the Avis return spot and got the valet charge refunded. The local parking in the Palliser multi storey is way cheaper and we saved around $150 for 4 days. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

She is a Grand Old Beauty, filled with excellent service at an awesome location!

You can do no better for an urban luxury resort than the Palliser. Although I live in Calgary I got the chance to spend a week at the hotel for business reasons, and I was reminded again what a splendid gem this iconic hotel is. Where do I start? Marina the Concierge - served me and my 50 colleagues incredibly well. The room, which is over 100 years old, was spacious, clean, quiet, ...and everything worked. (better than I will do at 100). The standard was Fairmont global standard. The staff was all amazing, from the bar at last call to the first coffee in the morning. The meetings staff were astounding, and we had great international board meetings in the iconic rooms on the 2nd floor. The location is perfect, with tons of dining close by or in the hotel. Walking distance to everything. Valet parking was impeccable. (as a musician, its worth noting that every piano I used was very well tuned - this is also important). The staff love their venue, and it shows. Bravo Palliser - you are part of my important milestone history and you still continue to wow. (just to put it in context...show me a modern built hotel built above an active national rail line where you can't hear the trains??)

No water, working washrooms or shower!

Stayed at the Fairmont Palliser in Calgary and had no water most of today! No working washrooms or showers... Though the concierge knew there was a water shut down scheduled for the next day, he did not inform us of it upon check-in. It was after we’d settled in our room that we found a letter on the desk notifying us there would be no water between 9am and 5pm of Oct 18. The Guest Services Manager responded to my concerned email by offering complimentary bottled water and coffee in the lobby. Because a free cup of coffee sure makes up for not being able to shower or use the washroom all day... If the hotel is being renovated and you won’t be able to offer the most basic amenities, it should be closed until the work is finished! We were expecting exceptional service and hospitality from this hotel. At the very least, for the money we paid, we expected a room and a private working washroom with a shower or bath, which is the bare minimum a lodging would offer. We are leaving tomorrow very disappointed. We won’t be staying here again. : ( #fairmont #disappointed this was no #luxury #hotel experience
