VERY DISSAPOINTING.. STEER CLEAR

Pictures are very deceiving! We are not high maintenance as just want a clean, comfortable place to stay as the outdoors and beach are our primary goal while vacationing in Florida. We stayed in 203. Furniture was dirty and bathrooms full of mold and mildew. We experienced a few unseasonably cool days while there and the temperature and moisture control in our room was ridiculous. Location was not the greatest. I recommend further north of Madeira Beach or 15 miles north to Clearwater Beach. We travelled 3 of the 5 days up to Clearwater Beach for the day. So much better! Its worth spending a few extra bucks to stay in Clearwater Beach. That is what we will be doing on future travels to Florida. I would not recommend this hotel or location.
Great location, nice place

This is the 2nd time I have stayed at Sunset Vistas, great location! It’s sits between Johns Pass which is just a little over 1/2 mile (easy walk) and Bilmar which is just under 1 mile (another walkable distance if able). Had fun the first time and again the 2nd time. They have a decent little cafe on property and great little bar facing beach when open. There is a convenience store across the street for any immediate needs. We took Uber from the airport to resort and walked pretty much everywhere...that’s how conveniently they were located. When we walked Bilmar area, there is a Walgreens, Ricky Ts, VIP Mexican restaurant and Publix across the street. When we walked the other direction was Johns Pass....I highly recommend this area, everything you could want in food and drink and shopping. We even ventured to Caddies On The Beach, 1.9 miles, but that’s ok because Bilmar was a nice in between stop where there is Sloppy Joes and they have good food and drinks. That’s all the greats. About our room 606W, 3 bed 3 bath penthouse, it really needed a good deep clean. There is years of dirt in corners, on walls, etc. I think they go in and do a really quick clean, change sheets, etc and that’s about it ALL THE TIME. I think they need to designate EVERY room gets a deep clean at least once every couple months, especially in this day and age. A couple other things- east facing shade in living room is broken in a 1/2 down 1/2 up position. We tried to fix it but couldn’t (I think it’s been like that quite awhile) and also tried just removing it and couldn’t either. Sitting in the living room looking east would have been a beautiful view. Toilet in what I would call small master bedroom leaked around the bottom. Needs new wax ring. Always water on the floor. There is a jacuzzi tub in large master bedroom but not enough hot/warm water to get it up to jets so that does not work. Beds are not the most comfortable and pillows are awful. If you’re traveling by car, bring your own pillow. There were a lot of great things about the place.....again, location and the people there. The million dollar view off the decks was amazing. This unit had 2 decks with 4 sliders. I’m sure it is hard keeping the glass on the sliders clean but once in a great while I think would make a huge difference. All in all....I would go back. Love this area and Sunset Vistas is a nice place! Loved being with family. Beautiful beach and pool areas!

Weather canceled our flight home and family convinced us to try this place. The one we had been using had preset cooling temperature of 70 to warm for my sleep comfort. Clean, comfortable well maintained and friendly staff. The beach is beautiful and only a few feet behind the building. It was a shame we didn't stay here the whole time in Fl. Highly recommend.

We loved every moment of this place! The 2 bedroom place was great - it was so nice to have 2 showers when we all came up from the pool at the same time! It was great to have a washer and dryer in the room too! We did so much laundry so we had clean clothes and fresh dry swimsuits at all times! The layout was nice, very spacious and the property was very clean! My kids LOVED the pool. The pool was busy a lot, but not so busy you felt too crowded. Tons of kids for my kids to play with - which was so nice too! The other people at the hotel were great too - it felt like it was upscale enough that most other people there felt like you could connect with them and had lots of great hot tub conversations! The little bar was nice - my kids loved the virgin pina coladas! The beach was beautiful and just steps away from the pool! All in all, we loved our stay and would go back any time! No problems, no complaints!!!
Met our expectations, a couple of gripes

We were looking for a reasonably priced 2 bedroom place with a kitchen, on the beach in more of a hotel setting (as opposed to AirBnB). Sunset Vistas definitely fit the bill. Front-desk - super fast and friendly check in and check out. Asked that nobody service our room because of covid concerns, but each time we called down for new towels they sent someone up within minutes. Room - we booked an ocean front room and were given w502. Great views of the ocean, from the balcony, living room and master bedroom. The two bathrooms were of good size, the only thing was that the main bathroom did not have a tub, so our grandson had to take baths in the master bathroom. No biggie. Kitchen was a good size with full sized stove and a big fridge. Only issue we had with the room was the second bedroom. Very small and no room for a pack-and-play, but we pushed the bed against the wall and that made room. This room also has a window that opens to the hallway, which means the shades were drawn all the time, but our room was towards the end of the building so very little foot traffic. This bedroom also had the smallest TV I have ever seen, and it was only connected to a DVD player, not cable. So if you are the type who likes to play the TV before bed bring DVDs. Pools - bigger than I thought from the pics. Kiddie pool area was great for our grandson - gradual ramp into the pool, very shallow, and little spray fountains. He had a great time. No other kids there most of the time so he had it to himself. Strangely, there is a little hot tub in this area, maybe so parents can hang in it while the kiddies play in the pool? Users need to enter a code to get into the area and out so felt safe. Main pool was bigger than expected, and the hot tub there was huge! Bar/Cafe - nice having the little bar down by the pool for some frozen drinks and being able to charge it to your room. Bonus points for not using plastic straws, but they still use plastic cups. Didn't go to the Cafe but nice having it onsite because the nearest restaurant is a long walk. Beach - short walk over the little bridge and onto the sand. Sand is powdery and clean, as is the water. Two things I didn't expect - tons of birds (literally hundreds) and really windy! The former didn't bother us, until you drop a potato chip or something and then suddenly there are a bunch of them all around you. A simple shoo and they are gone - these are not like the super aggressive birds we are used to in NY/NJ that will come and take the food out of your hand. As for the wind, it made the umbrella and tent we brought pretty much useless. I brought these because I didn't want to have to rent them from the guy on the beach, but if I went again I would just rent because their umbrellas had no problems. Parking - the spot that came with our unit was right by the kiddie pool, which made it super convenient for just leaving our beach stuff in the car instead of lugging it upstairs. Our spot was also under the building, so it protected us from the elements in case we encountered rain. Location - being directly on the beach was obviously the best part. There is a convenience store across the street for ice and such, but restaurants were either a long walk or a short drive. We did walk to the Publix one morning, which was probably about a mile. All-in-all, a great stay and would consider this place again.
