    The worst hotel I have ever experienced

    I was so excited to visit The Crane Barbados as it was also my first trip to beautiful Barbados. My boyfriend and I booked The Crane for both New Years and his birthday. I booked an Ocean View suite. Right from booking there were lots of problems. They overcharged me and did not send me a confirmation email - I had to call 5 times. to receive one I also called to ask about the rules for quarantine and was not told that we could not go to the beach or use any of the amenities and would be locked in our room (I would have stayed elsewhere). When we arrived in our suite, our jet tub was broken - we reported it (it was never fixed). There was zero room cleaning. The concierge at the hotel also lost our original COVID-19 tests when we checked in and rudely blamed us of this and threatened to not let us get tested. The toilet was broken (reported & also never fixed). Room service was always very late and rude even though we spent thousands on ordering in. We left disgusted and checked into The Little Arches, a luxury boutique hotel and thank god they were so lovely and we had a wonderful experience in Barbados after all. The Crane was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in in my entire life. I would highly suggest never staying there.

    I've never seen anything like this place, absolutely stunning property, delocious restaurants, best views in barbados. The beach and pools were top notch. The people were always fantastic and accomodating.

    Beautiful property, disturbing experiences

    The Crane is a beautiful majestic old hotel. The location is stunning. There are of course small mistakes and setbacks as with any trip or hotel stay, but I don’t want to talk about those though of course they did occur. The things that ruined the stay for me were, first, a hotel employee banging on our door and trying to enter our room at 1:00 am when we were sleeping. This was absolutely terrifying for me and left me feeling rattled and unsafe for the rest of the trip. Management did not offer any appropriate gesture to make up for a frightening night of ruined sleep. Second, I am vegetarian and do not eat bacon. I ordered an omelette with broccoli, spinach and cheese from room service. When my omelette came it was cold and over cooked and had bacon in it!! Putting bacon in a vegetarian omelette is a pretty huge upsetting mistake, especially since I didn’t notice until I had a bite of it. When I called room service to let them know, they put me on hold for a long time then a very combative and aggressive female chef named Kerry came on the line and yelled at me and accused me of lying about the bacon. Another really troubling and disturbing experience, and now I don’t feel safe ordering room service again. And again nothing from hotel management to make up for this second upsetting experience. The bacon in the omelette was one thing, but it’s quite another thing to be yelled at and accused of lying by a chef who doesn’t want to admit she made a mistake. These two experiences have left me feeling upset and unsettled and the hotel has not given me any appropriate response in light of these two very upsetting experiences. The service at the Crane has fallen far, far below our expectations, which include feeling safe and not having a hotel employee break into our room in the middle of the night!!

    We stayed at the crane for 5 day whilst isolating and had 2 days not isolating. I thought they were fantastic in keeping pre and post test result people apart. Hand sanitesers dotted about. A king breakfast delivered to the room each morning. And once out of quarantine access to an amazing beach. I just wish they had a pool guy as all the pools needed a bit of TLC. All in all a great stay.

    It seems they want your money but not actually your presence. I imagine this is temporary but this is the current experience. I would avoid Barbados at this time. There is a very long testing delay much more than 24-48 hours most of the guests staying with us have been at least 7 days so expect 10 plus days of quarantine. If you stay here I would recommend booking your own test and not using onsite Dr. The followup and care is lacking and she is overloaded with testing try Dr Brown instead a private Dr. Our friends that did this at another resort had much quicker results and the cost was less in the long run even though they chose a more expensive property. Pros: Large rooms (some with small private pools) and gardens. Room Service is not amazing I would avoid ordering from this menu, Zen and the Italian restaurant was lovely even take away was fantastic so imagine the dining experience is great. House Keeping staff were very nice and were always accomodating. Cons: Staff overall are generally rude and unhelpful. Some staff were lovely (Those taking in room dining orders and those delivering are kind and friendly), others are very unhelpful and very rude particularly check-in and reception and those booking tests. Unless you happen to be standing next to the GM otherwise the attitude is almost one of resentment. You no longer have access to any resort facilities and can't leave your room a Barbados government directive. Expect difficulty getting through on the phone to anyone, you will have to call many times and then expect to have to try calling back multiple times after the request is ignored.
