Awesome, Clean Facilities! Returning Guests.

We came here for a long weekend and I must say that, if anything, the staff here has proven to be the best in the area. I stayed here a few years ago and it was phenomenal. Food was great, everything seemed to be impeccable (I hate seeing towels that have been disposed of, and food trays resting in the pool area), entertainment was a blast, and the list goes on. However, we just recently stayed in the midst of Covid, and these guys made it seamless. They have sanitizing stations all over the place, made sure social distancing and mask wearing is enforced and you don't have to be worrying about any of this. Food quality is still top-notch and the staff was really friendly. We will definitely return. Thank you!
Decent resort, all inclusive not for us

This resort was decent if you are looking for quantity over quality. The pools are beautful and the staff is fairly attentive. There are many beaches to choose from and they are stunning with plenty of seating. Its a a huge resort and if your staying at tropical you can go to all of them but the adults only and the Maya Palace. When we first checked in we were a bit annoyed at how poorly the maps are laid out and the quality of info in general. It was hard to navigate and know where anything was unless you just spent time wandering to find what you needed. We figured it out by the second day but for a big family that would be rough. We were there over Christmas - NYE timeframe and there was definitely space to spread out from the other guests. We are a young couple who likes to go for a nice dinner followed by a fun bar scene every night and for this reason we wouldn't visit this type of resort again. I think this is more for families or people looking for a deal or an easy way to sit by the beach and not leave. we ate at 2 a la carte restaurants and the food was decent but the overall vibe was just kind of depressing and the service at both was not good. It feels like they dont want you to eat too much and they want to rush you out. There was not really a fun bar scene open but that could have been bc of covid and their club jaguars being closed. The buffet food was decent but not a big variety. Overall if you're more of a bougie person this probably wont be up to par but it was still a good time and the rooms were decent but the food, meh.
BEST RESORT AND AMAZING STAFF

This is a resort well worth my stay, everything about it was amazing!! Super friendly staff, extra clean and beautiful rooms. The beach is clean and well accommodated with gorgeous views. The variety and presentation of food was just breath taken, and the restaurants and there themes were just outstanding. Just have to mention how much we loved the French restaurant and the sheaf Didier De La Cruz, and our personal waiter Yaneth Garcia, not to leave anyone out a special thanks to the rest of the staff Jose Francisco, Antonio Velazqies and La Comedia. Your smiles and the extra mile goes a long way and makes your resort a 5 star place. Thank you all for making our stay a memorable one. Would come back again and again. Joseph and Milana
Barcelo Tropical August 2019 - Amazing Resort and Outstanding Staff!!
Reviewed by Tyesha98() on Aug 05, 2020
We had the pleasure of vacationing in Mexico (August 2019) at the Barcelo Maya Grand Resort. We had the most wonderful time - the resort was beautiful and well kept, there was a seaweed issue on the beach but this did not ruin our stay. The bar staff at the pool/beach were just fantastic - we didn't have to wait very long when we ordered drinks. The Buffet staff - in the Tropical/Colonial (breakfast and lunch) were great - I have to give a HUGE shoutout to Luis Ramon who was just the BEST server we could have asked for - he made my family feel special every time we ate at the buffet (we actually asked for him every time). He was just GREAT and you could tell that he cared about his service and his customers. He always remembered what we ordered and he made suggestions for different cocktails and he would even surprised us with something different. He is a great asset to the resort, and he is also one of the reasons why we are giving this resort 5 stars. I must also mention David Balam, who is also in the Tropical Buffet (breakfast and lunch) who was also another server that stood out and offered personal service. Daniel Acosta (dinner server) again, a great server who hands down cared about his customers. The al a carte restaurants were great and a nice break from the evening buffet. We would ABSOLUTELY go to this resort again and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a great resort in Mexico and of course to see Luis again!
Barcelo is pretty good.

For the price that was paid for our week long stay, I can't say I have many complaints. The environment of their Tropical section is absolutely unreal, the on-resort dolphins and their trainers was one of the most incredible experiences of my entire life. The quality of food, the drinks, everything I could've asked for with outstanding clean quality and brisk efficiency to my requests. Only thing I can comment on is the size of the sheets in the beds, a little small :(
