Great resort for family or couples trip

We needful resort. Awesome pool and even better beach. Pure sugar sand and no rocks/lava in water. Great for lityle ones. Shows every night…don’t miss ss rock/Boogie shows! Nice music in foyer area by bar each night between dinner and before shows. Comfortable rooms, beautiful grounds. Book your meals as soon as you arrive as slots fill up. Disappointed in Hibachi grill as there was no showmanship at all. Meal was great. We were there in Feb with friends and there was no showmanship but in Nov it was an amazing show. Recommend room service for breakfast on your deck. Grounds are jungle like and amazing. Watch for the monkey who hangs around. There are these little critters that look like raccoons. Entertaining for sure but guard any food you get especially down by the pool. They flock around food trucks and will jump up on your plate.
Wonderful dinner

We had dinner this evening at The Grill restaurant. Our servers were Brandon and Efrain and they both created an AMAZING dining experience for us. We had the sea bass and arranchera steak and both dinners exceeded our expectations. We are very thankful for this experience that both Brandon and Efrain created for us. Muchas Gracias!!
Definitely coming back.

Beach: 10/10. The main reason we came and it did not disappoint. It’s soooo beautiful and there is a ton of natural shade. Although occasionally you do smell cigarette smoke. But that isn’t too much the fault of the resort as these are people breaking the law. There is also occasionally people taking orders for drinks and the people selling things aren’t too pushy which is nice. Food 8/10: the food in my experience is above average for an all inclusive. The lunch options like tacos and crepes are very very very good. The buffet and restaurant food is a hit or miss. Some food can be super tasty and some just taste off. Maybe I am just not used to some of the flavors but over all good. You just have to find what’s right for you. Drinks were not watered down and wine was so good! Service: 8/10. Some individuals are super nice and accodmating. But sometimes service is inconsistent. Room service was amazing. Organizing all of our things and even cleaning our room sometimes twice a day with many towels. Restaurant and buffet service can be a little slow but I think that’s because they are overworked. Environment 8/10: this is a quiet resort. No party life so if you like to party this is not your resort. I personally like the quiet aspect. Everyone sticks to themselves. Some people can be loud but I think that’s just due to the different cultures. It isn’t a deal breaking factor. There is a large group of French/spanish speakers here. Not a lot of English. Personally this wasn’t a problem for me. As if you just try to speak a little Spanish, the language isn’t an issue at all. Most workers can speak a little English. There are kids here, which can be a little bothersome, but what can you expect from a non adult resort. If you like to participate in activities and do not speak any French or Spanish this may not be the resort for you. BUT, I don’t like activities so language was not a problem for me. The cotis were there but they did not personally pose a problem. You just have to watch your food and stand your ground. They are afraid of you so if you don’t run away they do not bother you. They also are rarely by the beach. WE ALSO SEEN A SPIDER MONKEY. Was so cool. The environment is very natural here, it felt like we were in Costa Rica. Privileged 10/10: the privileged upgrade was 100% worth it. You get a much closer room and a beautiful room. You also get access to a better breakfast place so you do not have to walk far for breakfast. You also get a separate area on the beach that isn’t crowded like the other one for non privileged members. I definitely recommend if you can afford it.

It will be hard to express with words the two weeks we spend at Catalonia playa Maroma. The purpose of the vacation was to re-married on the beach after 35 years of marriage with family and friends. We were a group of 17 and everyone had a blast at the hotel. Rooms were big and clean with all the amenities needed to stay comfortable, mattress were one of the best of many resorts we visited in the past. The resort is extremely well designed and without being big it looks like it. Main centre walkway take you anywhere you need. Restaurant and food are very good, but always is room for improvements on little details. Beach is gorgeous and plenty of seats and good bar service. Pool is not big, but you don't feel it crowded. Very good entertainment and music not loud. Now, the especial mention for all the staff at the resorts: Reception: Extremely professional and multilingual.Big thank you to Fernanda, Isabel, Ledie ( sorry if spell incorrectly) and everyone at the desks. Excellence Membership advisors: Fernando and Daniel Waitress at El Pajarito: Alexis, Juan, Abelardo, Samantha, Jesus, Viviana, Angel, Alberto this people make the stay for us memorable and feeling at home and well treated. Rodolfo at the meat cook to order was outstanding. Waitress at theme restaurants: David, Isaac, Bryan, Nelly,Vanessa, and others that can remember the names provide us with great choices for food and wine selections. Room cleaning people: very nice and cleaned everything, rooms looks spotless. Finally, the wedding planning team under the extremely professional management of Paloma Vizcarra, help us to have one of the most memorable moments on our life.Thank You Thank You Thank You. Everyone of our group will remember the time spend at Catalonia Playa Moroma and for sure we will return Maria and Gustavo
