Amazing location, friendly staff, great experience

Cogitator (Undisclosed Location) on Apr 22, 2024

This place was amazing. Staff was friendly and helpful at all times. Food at all restaurants was good. Pool-side service is really nice and the separation into a family pool and adults-only pool is nice... even though we had no kiddos in tow we hung at the family pool most of the 6 days we were there. We're a bit price-sensitive so we had a rental car so we didn't eat all meals at the resort - as good as the food is, it's pricey. And the car allowed for exploration of beaches, Willemstad, cheaper watercraft rentals and general ranging about north to south to north. The Marriott also has a secured parking area with round-the-clock security personnel so it really relieves the pressure from all the children's college funds one signs away at the rental car counter (et. al. if one blows off all the insurance in triplicate they want to sell you). There are supermarkets nearby but one would really need a car to practically use them. There's a really nice public beach down the street from the Marriott but the Marriott has created its own beaches on property so there was really no need to go there! One thing I couldn't really get clear on before I left was the electrical outlet situation. It was clear that the voltage is 220V but the actual plug style(s) available were another matter ... the rooms have ONE US-style, two prong (type A) / three prong (type B) plug in the room (again at 220V). The rest are all the round two-prong European plugs (technically "type F" (4.8mm wide prongs) but will also accommodate "type C" (4mm wide prongs) adapters -- both will work ) . Thankfully we had a bag of adapters and had sufficient to plug all of our stuff in ... phone chargers and laptop adapters all supported 220V so as long as we could get them adapted to the plug type, we were good. This is the only picture I attached because it was annoying trying to find out what to bring and ... in the end we just brought "everything". The hotel also offers adapters at checkin with a deposit which you can get back at checkout. I don't know how many they'll give you but if there are two of you and 4 devices (2 phones and 2 laptops/pads) and possibly other powered devices... the number needed adds up quickly)

Curacao visit for a day… AMAZING!

Pamela S (Glastonbury, Connecticut) on Apr 11, 2024

Spent a day here while visiting Curacao. We participated in the ‘Resort for the Day” program as an excursion off a cruise ship. Amazing experience!! The staff was welcoming from the very start. It is a great property to hang out at for a day. It was clean, staff were kind and friendly, food was good. Plenty of chairs and umbrellas along with pool towels. The view was incredible!!

2nd visit, Beautiful resort

tripplannerx3 (Connecticut) on Apr 02, 2024

Second time visiting the island (Curacao is amazing!) and this resort. Much more crowded the last week of March than mid-April in 2023. Large groups (business conferences) were at the resort in addition to a large number of families. The resort felt crowded and was probably at capacity. Pros: Friendly staff Best snorkeling right off the beach. Beautiful resort Great location - 5-10 minutes to downtown, 15 to airport. Clean, modern rooms with tons of storage space for luggage. Adult-only "Serenity" pool was a wonderful place to relax. Cons: More staff needed at check-in Spotty drink/food service at adult pool and beach (hit or miss) False advertising on Marriott website for one of the Ocean Front room choices with photos showing that you can reserve a 1st floor oceanfront room. This is NOT the case. We booked this hotel specifically for this room so we could have loungers and walk out to the ocean (we even called about this to confirm). We arrived and were told they knew the website was wrong and none of those rooms were avaliable. Started the trip off on a really sour note. Even looked into leaving but options were not great given crowds that week. Marriott needs to do better. The Bad: Vising the last week in March when it was crowded meant that people put their towels on the beach chairs at the crack of dawn. In some cases these people didn't show up until 4-5 hours later. So selfish! Hotel could maybe add more beach chairs with umbrellas and it would be nice if they enforced a policy to remove those towels if people are not there. The big conference groups meant that 3 nights of our stay, a section of the beach by the adult pool was cordoned off for a buffet dinner and live entertainment (6:30-10pm). Watching the sunset from this area was the best part of the trip last year and so it was a shame that these events made that impossible. In addition, the adult pool became the afternoon happy hour hang-out spot for the large conference groups so there was not as much "serenity" happening at the adult pool. The resort is beautiful and great for families (Main pool was overrun with families this week). We just picked the wrong week to visit - was not the same feeling as the first time we were there.

First time here, and DEFINITELY will not be my last!

Taunisha-1 on Mar 31, 2024

I really enjoyed my 4 day stay here with my sisters for my 50th Birthday celebration. I never even heard of this island, and I was Aruba last year??. My younger sister picked this destination and hotel based off of the reviews and her hotel points. Anyways. The view is beautiful as you walk of to the foyer and check in. There’s the ocean, just inviting you to come jump in. I was extremely impressed that all the staff or just people on the island in general speaks at least 4-6 languages. I’m staring at them when they can just switch up their language from English to Portuguese to Dutch and Spanish etc. Anazing! Our room was a nice 2 bed, with spacious bathroom and it was 3 of us. Housekeeping came In everyday and if I wanted more towels etc., I went and got them. I read some reviews about housekeeping not providing enough towels etc, but that was not an issue for me. They have a nice coffee cafe and bar/restaurant in the lobby as well as a sushi bar. At 4 or 5 they have a manager happy hour for one hour with wine on the house daily. They have 2 other places to eat pool side and our favorite was the Salty Iguana bar. Shout out to the staff at this place. My faves were Maurice, very nice young, respectful man from Kingston Jamaica. Then there’s Genril, but I called him “G”. He had my drinks LITTY!! I definitely had my tips ready for them. Well deserved! Please give them a super raise because that is the type of stay you want on your team to maintain satisfaction at 100%. The beach is rocky as other reviewers stated, so bring your wet shoes. They have two pools, one for adults and the other for kids/adults. It was also suggested to rent a car, which I did and I’m glad. My suggestion is to rent from a local company and not put typical Budget, Avis etc. I rented from Boric Car rental and it was really cheap and they pick you from the airport too. Cheaper than a taxi. Prunis ( I think that’s how you spell it) is also a cheaper rental car place and not to far from Boric on the same street. You must go 2 miles down the road from the hotel to a restaurant called De Visserij piscadera. Trust me, google it, and you won’t be disappointed and about $20 for your meal. They take debit/credit cards. Also, I used my card for all of my purchases and brought $100 in singles for tips. The American dollar goes a long way on this island. We ventured downtown (tourists areas), Willemstad, ate along the water and ventured where the cruise ships were and had a drink at “It’s 5’O’Clock Somewhere with beautiful views of the ocean. There was also a casino over there too. We found a cheap parking ramp there as well and we were there for 3 hours and it was like $5. Overall, very nice hotel. My experience was excellent! I will be back to see more of the museums and markets next time.
