Great Family Experience

Garrett N on Apr 26, 2024

Had a great experience at the Westin, the service was friendly , attentive and excellent. Highly recommend the fish tacos at Caracoal for lunch. For dinner my kids loved Bamboo and Spirula and Faisenella the most. The beach is incredible, I’d suggest gettin up early to get a spot in the shade under the trees. Karaoke night was a huge hit. We did the mega combo tour and the catamaran tour though the hotel, both were great. For transportation to and from the hotel the Westin had no availability for our arrival time so we used Erik G (he has google blue shirt ) google him to get his contact info. He does excursions and transportation. He had a private van pick is up and it was perfect and a great deal. I’m fact we decided to use him again for our trip back to the airport. I would highly recommend the Westin Reserva Conchal for a family of 4.

Wonderful resort!

vichy (NYC) on Apr 26, 2024

Wonderful experience! A couple of things I learned, or wish I knew in advance: - the property looks big, but it's definitely walkable if you prefer to do that rather than wait for a golf cart ride - very well equipped fitness center - pool chairs are first come first serve, and they get taken fast on the weekend. plan accordingly to nab a spot - there will be bugs in the rooms. possibly less in the club towers as there's an interior entry (most of the other rooms have garden style apartment access), but mostly I think it comes with the territory - AMAZING AMAZING SPA

Great Family Vacation

Va_02100 on Apr 26, 2024

My family stayed at the Westin in a Bunk Bed Family Jr. Suite and loved our stay. Everyone was very friendly and really helpful. The A/C worked great in the room and we really appreciated grabbing room service for the kids, the mini fridge drinks and room snacks/fruits after a day of activities. The whole Westin staff from Guest Services to Housekeeping was really great. With regards to food, our favorite place to eat was Mitra! It just worked for our family given the variety of foods, beautiful environment and flexibility when traveling with a tween and a teenager. We used Erik G (he wears a google blue shirt) to book a private ATV tour. We enjoyed that so much we asked him to book a private Leona Waterfall Tour, which was awesome as well. It was such a great family trip at a beautiful resort. I definitely would return to the Westin for another family vacation!

A Worthy All-Inclusive in Costa Rica Paradise

kellycD2784LO on Apr 25, 2024

We just returned from a wonderful vacation at the Westin, and I highly recommend it. Because I found reviews so helpful, I thought I would contribute with my experiences. The resort is beautiful- the combination of lush green settings, pretty flowers, crystal clear skies, and a beautiful ocean made this a perfect retreat. And it was so fun viewing the huge iguanas, birds, and monkeys (yes, lots of monkeys!). We booked a Club level room, which seemed worth the increase in price to us. We loved the adult pool, had wonderful club breakfasts and club lunches at Faisanella, and the service around the adult pool, bar, restaurant, and buildings was stellar. The Club pool seats needed to be claimed early in the morning, but the main pool typically had availability. And although I didn’t understand my first day, the resort will set up beach chairs and umbrellas on demand (the umbrellas do go quickly). I recommend packing chair holders (bands or clips or something), reusable water bottles, strong sunscreen and bug spray/mosquito bands for night. We thought the Westin a wonderful all-inclusive experience, relatively comparable to higher-end all-inclusives that are much more expensive like Sandals, and nicer than many others. We ate at every restaurant with the exception of La Sabana, the steakhouse that gets mixed reviews. We were really impressed by all the menu options. Sure, we didn’t like the quality of the mozzarella at Spirula, the Italian restaurant, or the tempura batter at Bamboo, the Asian restaurant, but overall, we had wonderful and varied appetizers, entrees, desserts and drinks at each dining experience. We loved booking Cauri at the main lobby for 5:45 pm to watch the sunset overlooking the golf course, but be sure to arrive early because by 6 it was done (at least during April of the dry season). To book dinner reservations, I downloaded the Westin App and logged in using my name, travel dates and reservation numbers. Starting a week or so before my trip, early in the morning, I was able to book one day at a time for reservations for Friday through Sunday (so the Saturday before I could book Friday reservations, the Sunday before for Saturday reservations and the Monday before for Sunday reservations). For Monday reservations on, though, I had to wait until the Friday before the trip, when I was already on premise, and then the rest of my days opened up. However, even during the trip, I was able to check and change reservations times. My take away- prepare what you can, be diligent, but don’t overly stress. For lunch, we really enjoyed all the options, which for us were the club restaurant Faisanella, as well as the main options of Caracola Poolside, Rooms service or the Pizza Corner. For airport transfers and activities, we used Erik Garcia, the man that is a helpful voice on Westin Reserve Conchal Info and Discussion FB group (look for the name Erik Garcia Conch Beach) and in the Blue Google/TripAdvisor shirt on the Beach who is always around on the beach. Erik is a hard worker, responsive, and makes recommended arrangements for a more affordable price than others. When pricing out airport transfers, Erik’s price was 10% cheaper than another person that is recommended on this group (that competitor also pressured us to book more with him in order to even book a transfer). When the airlines changed our arrival time to 2 hours earlier than expected, Erik instantly responded to my Whats App at 2am his time and adjusted the transportation arrangements to meet our earlier arrival. And we LOVED our La Leona Waterfall Adventure Hike booked through Erik. For those considering La Leona, it depends on the guide you use but Erik booked a guide who took pictures (so we didn’t need our phones) and provided water sacks (that worked so-so). The only thing we needed were good water/hiking shoes and light weight plastic water bottles from the hotel - the rest of what we brought (towels, change of clothes, heavier refillable water bottles, snacks) we were able to leave in the car. Other companies we saw on the hike did not seem as safe or accommodating. I did bring USD for excursions and transfers. Communicating with Erik before I came helped me get a sense of how much to bring for excursions. Regarding tips, I brought lots of small bills- although I did not witness a lot of people tipping, I was happy to tip every person I interacted with, and most seemed touched and grateful. I was also impressed by all the staff members use of English and how friendly and hard-working they were. We had one issue during our stay- our room (1307) was a lovely club suite, but the gorgeous patio setup overlooked an area that was used to dump garbage (large wood pallets, construction material and we even witnessed the truck dropping my garbage). I have no idea why someone at the Westin thought this appropriate, and I’m still baffled by how this gorgeous room could overlook a garbage heap, but the Club front desk staff was able to offer us a different room with a view of the pool. Repacking and moving rooms wasn’t fun, but for me, the switch was worth it. (Westin, if you’re reading this, I would love a manager to contact me.) Some reviews here made me fear the food and possibly getting sick. We took basic precautions (which for me, include avoiding raw produce that isn’t cooked, using bottled water to brush teeth and wash the tooth brush, and taking prophylactic vitamins such as Grapefruit Seed Extract and Probiotics), and felt well the whole time. This is a super long review but I hope it helps others as much as I was helped by the comments of others. Happy travels!
