We spent 3 days in this 5 stars resort in April. Our expectations were much higher according what have we got. It’s old fashioned resort, certainly need renovations in all segments ( rooms, beds, bathroom..). We understand economic situation in Cuba, but food was very average and no selection at all. We do not recommend this resort, better to choose something else.

I have spend wonderful days in this hotel. It is amazing, workers in total have a good mood everywhere. Also places and Food.

We were at Melia From April 1 -8. We arrived at about noon and were not able to check in. No biggie!, we got our bracelets and were able to walk the grounds and eat. Checked in at 4:00pm, without issues!. Front desk was bombarded with people demanding better rooms, closer to the beach, closer to the pool, I felt bad for them but they put on a smile. We got to our room 1931, Safe worked, AC worked, Beds were fine, towels were there, Fridge did not work but everything else was great, small issue with the door was corrected within 20 minutes of reporting it. We were about 3 minutes to the pool and beach. Great! Food: Food was repetitive but they tried to spice it up a little, They had eggs for 5 of the days we were there, but watching people order 10 eggs for breakfast just to see them go to waste is sad but people will be people. We tried the a la carte restaurants and they were ok, They acknowledge their shortages and made the best with what they had. In Summary, Our group did not go hungry, nor were we short on drinks. Beach and staff: The beach cannot be explained in words, Clean and amazing, Only issue we had was that there are not enough lounge chairs by the pool or the beach but we always managed to find something with the help of staff. Staff were great from Front staff to the people cleaning the rooms. Always provided water, even when we put the "do not disturb" door tag up, Changed out towels when we asked and had no odd bites of any sort on our body after the trip. Overall: We enjoyed our stay, some things were lacking but we were made aware of that prior to going for the first time. If you are expecting the same luxuries as Mexico or DR, you will not get them here but they will surely try to meet your expectations.

This resort was very beautiful. The staff were so gracious and lovely despite their economic picture. They always had a smile on their face. Yes the food in Cuba at resorts is generally bland but the Cuban people, history and the beaches are absolutely amazing. Fresh botted water everyday in our room and fresh towels daily. Everyone was very helpful and kind. Take condiments with you to Cuba like salt, paper, ketchup, mustard. This helped a lot with the food. I would definitely stay there again. It is quite far from Varadero and a taxi one way is $25 CAD.

The service is excellent. The staff treatment is incredible, the check-in reception was quick and easy. The food is an incredible gastronomic option. I loved the room, it was so clean, so cozy, the cleaning maid was so friendly and attentive, the service in the bars and restaurants, the waiters were great. Definitely the best hotel to spend your vacation
