First Time at a 4+ Resort

uliman49 (Kelowna, Canada) on Apr 20, 2024

If you want to just chill, this resort was more than adequate. . . tho lots of children and very little beach and not too much adult activites. A bit off the beaten path with Isla Mujeres and pre-arranged tours (at your disposal at the hotel through a third party at the resort). Showers lacked hot water throughout most of the day, tho my first shower when I arrived was great :) (We stayed for 10 days and showered at different times.) Found the buffet wasn't open every day so you have to be aware of the notices in the elevators as to what is being offered each day. Twice we came back from outings and were not able to access a buffet. Enjoyed our first experence as we are seniors (note: we not too active seniors:)

It was ok and very relaxing. Just what I needed.

Let me start with the fact that I was supposed to go to riu palace riveria maya in March , but got sick and had to postpone the trip. When we tried to rebook I kept getting hung on and RPRM was sold out. I was given this place as the price was the same as my credit. We missed spring break. A positive. Going this week was interesting as there were a ton of five year olds and under and no school age kids. Not a real party place, but very quite if that’s what wahat you want The Good: The beach is kept pristine and cleaned all day. Drinks are also plentiful all day. The hotel is vertical which with my bad knee was helpful. You will not get your steps in here. Chairs were available all day. This is a big deal for me as I do wake up at I wake up early and read the news with a coffee, so I usually am able to reserve chairs if needed. The shower was next level. It was a rain shower and a handheld. The pool and beach are really nice. The hotel is walking distance to the ferry over to Islas Mejures. Bad: Shows were not good and very cheesy. Boarding on unwatchable. The bathroom had no main door. We had our 21 year old daughter, so this was no fun. Breakfast buffet is very Meh and the exact same every day. If you are Vegan or Vegetarian you will have a tough time eating especially proteins. There is nothing to do at night. Preferred club is a complete waste of money. I think our only benefit was being put on a higher floor. Coffee Cafe was great. The workers are all great and hard working. The really bad: The food. Inedible at times. The buffet does not change food daily. The food is over cooked or under cooked and over salted. The food in the ala cartes was ok, but the service was super slow. Noone was eating at the Mexican restaurant. That should tell you something. Asian and Blue water were ok, italian was bad. Let me say this about food. It is very subjective and I am a picky eater living in a city with very good food. Final analysis- these are my opinions and mine only. I’m sure other people have different opinions and that’s ok. I will say that this is probably the last time I will stay at all inclusive resort.

Honest review

I would not recommend this resort out of all of the other resorts in Mexico. The facility is much smaller than expected. There is a limited select of food options and space to relax. There is a total of two bars unless you pay for preferred so you can access another bar and pool. On the 9th floor where the spa is located another "preferred" eating section is there but it's just a small room with limited seating. The only thing I truly enjoyed was the spa experience and the ocean view scenery from the hotel.

Bad location

jslee4344 on Apr 19, 2024

It is a very nice resort; however the setting is like a large hotel instead of the type of resorts I've been to previously in Mexico. I prefer resorts with gardens that you can roam around. This resort does not have thatr.

Exceeded expectations

This was our first trip to Mexico for a wedding. The room was very nice and we had a standard room, the finishes were nice and modern with cool lighting. The bed was very comfortable and we slept great every night. The staff were exceptional, friendly and willing to make sure our stay was comfortable. I would go here again.
