I would like to acknowledge the manager, Julianne. Julianne provided impeccable service as she was incredibly attentive, accommodating and helpful. She was also extremely friendly as she generously welcomed my guest and I. I will be sure to recommend this hotel. Thank you for having her on your team!

Great location and easy access to restaurants!

andresd257 (New City, New York) on Oct 07, 2024

Our 1st time in Curacao and we are very happy we chose this place given the proximity to the shops and great restaurants close by (Kaya 91 and Ceviche 91). The "beach" is basically a man-made pool with ocean water and sand. It's great for a quick dip and some late afternoon cocktails but definitely RENT A CAR and go visit the gorgeous beaches this island has to offer. The parking is free at this hotel. Thank you to THALIA at front desk for all the help with tips on places to visit and restaurants to eat and drink at. She knows where all the good frozen drinks are sold!

Best oceanfront resort in town

coolcaesar (San Mateo, California) on Oct 07, 2024

I recently stayed at the Renaissance for a brief weekend getaway to Curacao. The spring 2024 fare deals on Copa Airlines for fall 2024 flights from SFO came down to CUR v. AUA v. SXM. However, I had just visited AUA in November 2022 and I couldn't find any good hotel deals in SXM. Therefore, it was time to try Curacao. I soon determined that I wanted to forego a rental car, and instead stay in Willemstad and explore the town on foot. In my research, I learned that Curacao looks a lot like Aruba, except with much smaller beaches and taller hills. I have no interest in snorkeling, scuba diving, or climbing hills in 90 degree heat. My main priorities on vacation in tropical climates are swimming laps in a pool and taking long walks on the beach. Overall, I was pleased with the Renaissance as the best oceanfront resort available in the Willemstad area. Curacao doesn't have many natural beaches, so many of the "beachfront" resorts like the Renaissance have fake beaches. In this case, the Renaissance has a seawater pool with an infinity edge on one side and sand on the other that simulates a beach, and a freshwater pool for people who don't like to taste salt in their mouth while swimming laps. Curacao is a much older colony than Aruba, meaning that Willemstad has more authentic historical Dutch architecture and more history to explore in its Maritime History Museum. In contrast, Oranjestad on Aruba is notorious for its tacky, bland, and dull pseudo-Dutch architecture, and the Aruba museum only covers Indigenous history but not the history of the colonial period. The Renaissance resort is conveniently located next to the Rif Fort, which the developer converted into a shopping center with shops and restaurants. It is also a short walk from the Queen Emma pontoon bridge over which one can cross to the Punda area. My room was clean, smelled good, and was well-maintained. No unusual smells or sights noted. Now it's time to turn to the downsides, which is what we all read TripAdvisor for. The main downside is that because I booked a cheap room on Hotwire, I got an "internal" room. The resort's Web site fails to explain what that is. Because of the resort building's unusual shape, there is a large triangle-shaped conference room with a high ceiling which spans several floors, with corridors and rooms around it, and a number of rooms actually face towards that conference room. I think what happened is that guests found it creepy to look out their windows only have a view of a conference room, so the resort management blocked off the window with a permanent opaque wrap. The result is a hotel room that gets no natural light or air! Fortunately, this kind of room didn't bother me. As a solo traveler who takes short vacations, I try to minimize my time in hotel rooms. Either I'm asleep, or getting ready to go to bed, or getting ready to go out. I am not the kind of person to sit on a hotel room balcony all day watching the world go by. Having an internal room meant I wasn't paying for a view that I was not going to use anyway. But it would have been nice to know about that in advance. In the end, I concluded I got my money's worth: a Dutch Caribbean oceanfront resort where I was able to swim plenty of laps in the swimming pool, then walk into the adjacent town and enjoy the local cuisine, architecture, and history. But having tried Curacao for a refreshing change from Aruba, it also made me realize how much I prefer to walk on long, natural white sand beaches on vacation. Therefore, I won't be coming back to Curacao for at least another 20 years (if ever). But I definitely recommend this resort to anyone curious about Curacao.

Excellent all around

Kathleen Z on Sep 27, 2024

We are so glad we chose this resort in Willemstad. The location was perfect, within walking distance to many shops, restaurants and activities. The entire staff was exceptional - friendly, multi-lingual, and helpful. All of the food we had was well-prepared and tasty and served with a smile. The beach with salt water and fresh water pools was seldom crowded and generally it was easy to find shade. The hotel looks to be clean and well-maintained with ongoing work while we were there but not disruptive. I would definitely recommend this hotel - be sure to get a balcony room overlooking the water - it was great to sit outside and enjoy the views.

A Truly Gold 5* Resort

Doyle-Schepens (Belgium) on Sep 20, 2024

My husband and I together with two friends have just returned after spending eight wonderful days at this resort. As my title says, it was truly a gold 5* resort from start to finish. First, I would like to start by apologising to the staff for not remembering all their names but each and everyone of them is the backbone of the hotel. You are certainly one big team, and the Marriott should be very proud of you all. However, there are some people who went out of their way to help us with our dietary requirements, and I would like to mention them. Belsa - lead in restaurant, who on hearing I and one of our friends could not have lactose discussed with the management and kitchen staff on how to resolve it. The result was four alternative desserts baked especially for us and left in the kitchen. All we had to do was ask for them at our meals. Also, Marylou her assistant, Chantal and Ruth also in the restaurant for making sure we had no problems. Thank you all. One evening the four of us decided to have dinner in Gondola, which is one of the restaurants in the Renaissance Mall & Rif Fort. You get a voucher of $25 pp towards the cost of the meal, and you collect them at reception before going. On the night in question one of the receptionists Riangelo, decided to accompany us and introduce us to the restaurant staff and explain about the vouchers. It was most thoughtful of him, and we went on to have a wonderful evening there. See separate review. Because we were staying longer than four nights we had decided to opt for the "All Inclusive" package when we were booking the trip through our travel agent. I can honestly tell you that it was worth it, and the food was just superb. This is also a resort where you can feel completely safe no matter which part you go to as there are a lot of security staff constantly walking around. We also saw that the Marriott makes hygiene a top priority. Not only were the rooms immaculate but everywhere in the resort. This was much appreciated after Covid. I could go on and on about this resort, but I won't. I will simply say that you just have to pay a visit to Renaissance Wind Creek Curacao, and I guarantee, you will definitely not be disappointed.
