You do not want room 4206! The farthest corner of this giant resort built on a hillside.

Room4206 is ridiculously farthest away from everything, especially the central elevator! Then third day in we come back to our room to be locked out totally!!! A huge huge walk to the main desk area! This is not meant for senior citizens!! Very disappointed in our location of our room!!

The only 5 stars in this hotel are the people who work here. Hyatt should pay them premium as the only reason this resort gets better reviews is because of the staff! They are all amazing and do their best to keep this very run down property the best they can! I stayed in May in Hyatt's vivid resort in Cancun which is also 5 star and the difference is unexplainable to me. Secrets property would not qualify even for one star in comparison. This resort has amazing potential! All rooms a facing the ocean. Beautiful beach. You can watch sunrise and sunset. Amazing staff who works so super hard. Now the reality. Run down property that needs major renovation! Extremely outdated rooms (cleaning staff is amazing at keeping it super clean which makes up for everything else!) Occasional sewage smell by the pool, restaurants which made our balcony unusable one day that's how stinky it was. If you consider preferred club the real benefit is that you get a la cart breakfast in a restaurant with beautiful views. Totally worth it for us but not sure everyone would find the same value in it. Service was great! Again, the only reason this resort has high ratings after Hyatt acquisition is because of the people who work there. We had a good stay but I am not returning to any Hyatt properties in Huatulco as they all have the same problems. We stayed at Las Brisas (wasn't available this time for the week we wanted) and I will return in a heartbeat! Secrets, Dreams not so much. I normally don't leave bad reviews as there are usually plenty of people who will do it for me, but I felt compelled to be honest and acknowledge outstanding job the staff of this resort does while the parent company is just neglecting the place and fully rely on the staff to carry the non existent 5 star reputation.
