Mazatlan Gem

Nicole T on Mar 28, 2026

Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan Beach Resort exceeded our expectations. We loved the smaller resort vibe, the beautiful sandy beach, the bandas music and the exceptional staff! We had wonderful service by the pool from Richardo, Juan, Noe and Antonio. They all provided outstanding, attentive service and made us feel special like we were family. We also loved the service in the Italian restaurant from Alejandro Ibarra who was charming, funny and professional. The location of the resort is perfect. You can walk to the Golden Zone in 30 minutes or it is easy to take transportation from the hotel as well. Centro is a must-see! We loved the live music and garden restaurants in Centro. We felt incredibly safe in the tourist areas. Our only con for the resort were the beds. They were hard and very uncomfortable. Despite the hard beds, we would definitely return to Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan Beach Resort for the small resort feel and the staff!!!

some good some bad

My husband and I stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Mazatland for 12 days in March of 2026. This is a little long however there was a lot to share This is a time share we did not know this when we booked. Lets start with the good things: The service staff are wonderful the rooms are clean, the linens and towels are bright white and clean. The grounds and the hallways are clean and well cared for. The food is good however the menu never changes, the ala carte restaurants have a small menu, it’s very good food however after a few days you are eating the same thing over again. The pool bar food is just ok again very limited. The location of the hotel is great, close to the Gold Zone yet far enough away so it is less noisy. Walking distance to great restaurants and stores. However it is on a very busy street that is noisy all the time. The Bad things We booked a King Luxury suit, when we got our room we were assigned 2 beds, The front office offered us another room which was a King Jr Suit, the room was fine however when we asked about the refund from a luxury suit to a Jr suit they said if we didn’t sign for the new room immediately we would be moved back to the other room, we asked what we were signing they said we were signing an agreement that we would take the downgrade in room with no refund. Didn’t leave us with a good feeling. We felt like the front end staff were very rude and not helpful in any way. The room – a coffee pot and 2 cups no coffee? No fridge, no water you get this from the bar which isn’t an issue however different from all the other all inclusive we have stayed at. The concierge was no help at all we asked about the hotel and amenities they didn’t tell us about the restaurants where things were in the hotel, what our all inclusive included we just found out from others in the resort or by just stumbling across it. We tried to make reservation for a specific dinner, we were told they were not needed however when we arrived for the meal we were told we needed reservations. When we asked to make reservation for the Italian restaurant we were told there was nothing available for several nights however the restaurant was empty? The bed- the mattress was firm, to firm to be comfortable, they did provide us with a couple quilts to place under the sheet which helped a bit. The pillows were terrible they were all the same size about 12x12 and they were like sleeping on lumpy mashed potatoes. On the beach in front of the hotel there were bands that played music from about 2pm on, the hotel has nothing to do with this however I would assume that they could lobby to have some changes made. Same with the music from the pharmacy across the street that starts at 7am and plays until at least 10pm. We really liked the vibe of Mazatlán and the size of the resort however because of these things we will likely never stay at this resort again

My family and I traveled to Mazatlan Mexico and stayed at the beautiful Pueblo Bonito Hotel in the golden zone. We had an absolutely wonderful trip, and it is a fabulous place to vacation. It wasn't just this city however, it was the the Pueblo Bonito staff that made this trip so memorable! I would like to bring special attention to Patty, the front desk manager and her exceptional front desk staff, as well as Carlos the bell desk manager and his amazing bellman, all of whom go above and beyond to ensure an absolutely perfect stay at the hotel! Thank you, Patty and Carlos and all of you at Pueblo Bonito for making my family feel like your family! I cannot wait for our next visit which will be coming soon!

we stayed here for 2 weeks and really enjoyed it so I'll try to highlight the positives and negatives cons: - when checking in you have to get your bracelet activated and the lady that was doing it was aggressively trying to get us to do a timeshare presentation, super annoying! - no swim up bar, the website says this resort has a swim up bar but that's not the case - our room had no fridge - not really any place to watch sports, was hoping to watch hockey here but I guess they didn't have those channels. there's a nice sports bar not far down the road though - it can be a bit noisy in the room because the resort is on a main street pros: - location! right in town, tons of restaurants and shops right across the street and a quick drive to the malecon and centro! - resort in general! the lobby and common areas, our room, restaurants and the grounds of the resort are all in beautiful shape and everything just looks so nice! - pools and beach! beach has nice soft sand with several palapas, the smaller pool seemed to have a chill and quiet vibe, we spent all our time at the main pool which is a bit noisier with activities, there's a nice shelf in the pool so you can just sit in it - loungers, always a problem it seems like but here it was not. never had a problem finding a chair on the beach or by the pool. also they're pretty nice loungers with pads on them so pretty comfy! - food, lots of food options and tastes good! sitting by the pool you can get food from the snack shack, tacos, quesadillas, chips and dip so that's a really nice option. typical breakfast buffet which was quite good and has a gorgeous patio which we sat on most days. cilantros has a variety of options, the buffet turns into an Asian restaurant for dinner which was quite good and angelos is the Italian restaurant and that was really good! - staff! service at this place was pretty exceptional anywhere we went, by the pool Ricardo and Antonio were amazing! never had a problem getting a drink or food and they're both so good! gilberto and Antonio at cilantro were awesome and so friendly. Enrique and gonzalo at breakfast took great care of us! also jordy the activity guy was always in the pool playing volleyball with the guests and keeping the vibe fun! overall probably the best staff of any place we've been - instead of a card your bracelet is used for everything which is really convenient not having to worry about remembering that overall this place is in a great location, has a good amount of tasty food options, it looks beautiful, nice beach and pools, and really excellent staff and I would 100% recommend staying here
