Stunning resort! Pack your patience!

Stayed for 1 week end of August: There were definitely more pros than cons so I'll start with the pros: Pros: -Stunning resort with breathtaking views at every corner. -No shortage of options to eat or drink -Although resort was sold out, didn't feel crowed ( except at certain restaurants- see Cons). Lots of pools to choose from. Not to mention 2 beach areas. -Very attentive life guards -Momo a la carte & Teppanyaki as well as Pier 8 must try....more than once! -Great entertainment for teens and older kids. Our kids have out grown the traditional playroom and splashpad. The Wired Lounge and Slide Pool ( volleyball for families everyday) kept them occupied ( and safe) for the majority of our stay. -Flow Rider- another great activity for older kids and adults -Club Noir: decent DJ, mature crowd. Drinks included! -Catamaran Tour with Snorkeling to Dunn's River Falls definitely worth it! Arranged through resort. Only a short 15min boat ride. Tour operators were very safe, experienced and entertaining. -Onsite paddle boats free -Complimentary coconuts and fresh coconut water on some days -Friendly/Courteous staff: Get to know your bar tender/server- Tip well! They work hard and long hours. Shout out to Kimani and Dookie @ Pier 8, Oshane @ the pool bar and Jenoy- Aqua Fit/trainer extraordinaire ;) -Palace App makes for easy reservations, ordering room service, and scheduling events -Costco Travel: Easy, no fuss. Sent us all documents and confirmations needed. -Arranged transportation with Jamaica Tours, to and from resort (expect long wait at airport for bus when arriving: at least an hour depending on arrival time and packed like sardines on the bus when returning) -Club Mobay access and priority security check: Great perk! Be sure to check in at Mobay counter BEFORE security. - faster separate security line- worth it -complimentary buffet and drinks in the lounge while you wait to depart comfortably. Nice closure to our vacation. -Bonus Costco gift card received the week we returned. Cons: -Pack your patience! -Long lines and wait at outdoor pizza, jerk hut and snack bar as well as indoor Boulangerie, Sushi and Pizza Bar. It appeared these spots were VERY short staffed if not a one person show. Food not replenished fast enough. When dishes were replenished it's every man/woman for themselves! Don't expect patrons waiting ahead to leave anything behind. - Room service although included, took at least 1 hour. We cancelled our order one night - 3 elevators for a full occupancy Tower 2. You have to factor in at least a 5 min wait when planning to go anywhere unless you're lucky. -This was the only thing that took away from the 4.5 star experience. -Although the view from Tower 2 was exceptional, the noise level at night from the street or guests partying on their balcony made for the odd sleepless night for this light sleeper. I had read similar complaints in other reviews. -Moon Palace Credits- They cap how much you can actually use towards certain experiences ( e.g. only half of our credits could be used towards Spa or a tour so we'd have to pay out of pocket for the rest). Credits can only be used for specific tours. A handful of items in the gift shop ( including high priced jewelry) could be purchased with credits AND you still have to pay tax out of pocket. Needless to say our $300 in credits was not used. Overall a memorable experience. Can't wait to visit Jamaica again. Moon Palace Cancun would definitely be a consideration given our experience with Moon Palace Jamaica.

I am currently staying at the Moon Palace and the accommodations are terrible. This hotel is very substandard to the other hotels contrary to what they lead on to the hotel is nothing like what they say. The rooms are tiny with no luxury amenities. My room has the view of the back of a building. I can’t latch my patio door for protection so I had to put a chair in front of it. The doors have landings so we’re constantly stubbing our toes. The ceilings are leaking water. There is trash and trays up and down the hallway being left out. I have never been to a resort in Jamaica that didn’t have butlers on each floor to remove the food trays. I’m a travel agent and I booked 20 other people… you would think they would be willing to make changes for me….No! I went to the front desk. The agent gave me two keys to check out two different rooms. One was nice but she wanted me to pay an extra $1080 and the other one was filthy. The dirty one was $290 to upgrade. One of the parties that I booked has been here for a week prior to me arriving, and was told that they were not able to get into the restaurants to eat so they have had to eat at a buffet all week long because of their shoes. She also had a room infested by ants and the front desk agent said it’s standard for Jamaica this time of year. I come here every year and I never had ants. Took them 3 days to change the room. I wish I had came earlier to change my party to another resort. When trying to call for help the phone line were down. I went to the o downstairs there was a line to complain. After waiting for 20 minutes they took my number for the manager….he never called . I went back down but there was more people with complaints. He still hasn’t called I also called prior to arrival to confirm transportation but when I When I arrived my name was not on the schedule. Book somewhere else!!!!
