Keep an eye at your belongings

Nataly S on Jan 10, 2023

Last Christmas I stayed with my family at the Swan resort at Walt Disney World. We paid an excessive amount of $1100 USD for 2 nights, but it’s Christmas and it’s a Walt Disney resort so we knew it is going to be expensive and we were willing to pay. Since my husband is in a wheelchair, and we have a 7 year old kid, we booked the ADA room which is presented on Marriot’s website as a room that contains a king size bed and a sofa bed, and that the room occupies 3 persons. When we arrived at the room, we understood that Marriot expects all 3 to sleep in the same bed and that the room has no sofa bed and only a king size bed. Well, this was not the worst part of our stay. On the 3rd day, we went down to eat breakfast and to put our suitcases in the car. It was 9:30 am (checkout time is 11:00 am). Since we knew we are still coming back to the room, we left two boxes with food and 2 closed bottles of Starbucks coffee on the table. We saw the housekeeping worker outside who asked us if we are checking out. We specifically told her that we have not checked out yet. When we came back to the room, an hour later, we saw the housekeeping worker just outside our room, standing and drinking our coffee. When she saw us, she kept walking down the hall to a different room. When we went inside the room, we saw that the stuff we left are gone. I went after her and asked her where my stuff is, she smiled and gave me my bag with the food, and one bottle of coffee (as she already drank the other one). There was not even an apology. At 11:00 I went down to the reception in order to checkout and tell them what happened, the receptionist apologized and asked how much the coffee cost and said she will credit our account for it. In the end, when I looked at my invoice, we didn’t even get the refund for the coffee. Marriot, you should be ashamed. A $15 refund for this kind of act is embarrassing. I see your worker's act as STEALING and take it into full severity. I wish I had stayed at a different hotel. You sure won’t see us again at this hotel.

Cockroaches on the 8th floor

smac85802 (Toronto, Ontario) on Jan 08, 2023

The Swan and Dolphin has been my “go to” Disney hotel for years. The grounds are spectacular, great location and used to be overall stunning. Unfortunately after this trip that all changed. From start to finish it was a horrible experience. I called the resort when booking to make sure I got the exact room I had in the past. I was promised to have a suite with a breakfast table and 4 chairs, a partition between the king bed and sofa and an adjoining room with two double beds. Upon check in we did not get what was requested. Front desk was reluctant to change us but finally said we could move the following day. A bit of an inconvenience not being able to unpack but we agreed. The next day the room was still incorrect. The manager promised to have a table and chairs put in our room to try to fix the problem, and that never happened. She was condescending implying that I was upset because of my horoscope sign. The Swan and Dolphin should not advertise Disney perks. We planned our day around early entry and the busses never came when promised. We did not make early entry and missed plans that we paid for with genie plus because of this. You are paying a resort fee and promised Disney perks that you do not get. The transportation has also changed and is no longer part of the Disney busses. Magic kingdom you are dropped off at the back of the park and have to take the monorail. We ended up taking the busses from yacht club which was faster and more convenient. We requested our rooms to be cleaned daily and that didn’t happen until our final day. Our garbage was overflowing and nothing was replenished daily. But the most disgusting part is when we saw multiple cockroaches in our room and feces on the floor every morning. Front desk didn’t seem concerned at all and nothing was done. Instead we were made to feel crazy for even thinking this was a concern. These are not the standards I would expect from a higher end hotel. The tv and lamp in our room were also not working. We had a lot of empty promises this trip from the table and chairs not being delivered, to the transportation and to basic hygeine. It seems that the service and care have gone down hill and management doesn’t seem to care at all.

Too cold in lobby and hallways

Explore37682 on Jan 08, 2023

We stayed on swan side. Quiet and clean but lobby and hallways were freezing in January. Colder inside hotel than outside. Don’t understand reason. Def would not recommend if you don’t like the cold. It made no sense.?? sushi restaurant was a tourist trap. Italian restaurant was excellent. Pool area was ok. They don’t serve food at pool bar.

Not Necessarily the Happiest Place on Earth

Grandma1809 (Madison, Wisconsin) on Jan 06, 2023

This was a family trip with my children and grandchildren. I found the staff to be very poorly trained. The staff behind the counter didn'tvseem to know where anything on the property was located ie hot tubs etc. The maps they hand out are so dense and the type so small that they are unreadable. The rooms were ridiculously expensive for what I received and when a toilet tank broke in the middle of the night flooding our bathroom and necessitating 4 guests trucking down to the lobby to use the bathroom, I was told on a $700.00 plus room that they will credit 100.00 as a gesture of goodwill! However, the cleaning crews were very good and very helpful. But I don't know if that would be enough to convince me to stay there again.
