Another Amazing Stay at this Amazing Resort

ebwhyte (Antioch, California) on Jul 01, 2022

First and foremost, JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa is one of my absolutely favorite places to stay! This recent stay did not disappoint. I was a little worried given the recent reviews and I haven't stayed at JW in over two years. However, all is well at this exceptional property! I arrived early and was given a room immediately. Unfortunately, the room faced an extremely large tree off the balcony so there was absolutely no view. This was a sabbatical/solo sojourn for me after a really rough year. The main thing for me was having a view whether the view was of the mini golf side or the pool area a view was necessary for me. I went back to the front desk and was immediately moved to a room with the amazing room of the pool area, palm trees, golf course and the wondrous mountains beyond. The room was renovated, clean and stocked very well. There was a coffee maker and a refrigerator in the room which was nice. The bed was super comfortable. The bathroom was nicely updated and beautiful. I'm sure if I asked this would have been readily rectified. Yes, there was a QR code for room service. This wasn't working for me and they delivered a printed copy for me to use. EVERY staff member I encountered was professional and extremely welcoming. It shows that guests at this JW are appreciated. I can't say enough about this resort and hope to be back soon!

Not what it used to be. Won’t be returning

bizlifetraveler (Scottsdale, Arizona) on Jun 29, 2022

Years ago this was an amazing resort and definitely one we would always stay at when we were in the Palm Desert area. We previously loved the facilities and the experience. Even as recently as just a few years ago I’d book my family here to stay because the kids especially loved the boat rides and restaurants and we always had a great time. Over the years it’s become more of a conference hotel with ZERO charm and average service. I’ve had better experiences at a Residence Inn. The front desk gal didn’t even acknowledge or say hello to my kids, we had to order room service using a QR code instead of talking with a rep, and as a Lifetime Titanium Elite member I was given the lowest floor available with a direct view of ... the pool bar roof. Oh and now you have to pay $5 a seat for the boat rides and reserve ahead on your phone. It was evident the housekeepers hadn’t finished our room as there were items in the fridge from previous guest and the trash wasn’t emptied. The service has diminished, it feels impersonal, and the room renovations were done cheaply. (You will not get good sleep here either... it’s always so loud; that hasn’t changed.) To top things off, the front desk called our room at 10:40 PM (!!) asking if I’d found something from the previous guest, awakening my entire family. They apologized and issued me a credit which I have to check if I received. On a high note, the room service food was wonderful. But not much else I’m sad to say. If you’re here for a business event I’m sure it’s fine, but sorry JW... even my 9-year-olds said ‘we’re done with Desert Springs’.

Great hotel for a quick getaway

YorbaLindian (Yorba Linda, California) on Jun 26, 2022

We went for a quick trip to celebrate my son’s 16th bday. Had a great stay! The kids had a great time at the pool. We enjoyed waking around the hotel grounds. The breakfast at Rockwood Grill was excellent - Lucy was a pleasure to meet and made the breakfast more enjoyable. Raylene was great at check-in. We will be back, did not have a chance to try out the boat ride. Breakfast amenity for titanium elite was more than sufficient. Jayhada was very helpful and would definitely recommend the JW for a family trip.

Front desk ignoring dog sightings

Rgbox (Ayrshire, United Kingdom) on Jun 25, 2022

Can’t believe I told front desk the upper block where a woman came from 9401 area of dessert spring 1 with a small fluffy white dog( no matter what size it’s still a dog that’s not aloud) it’s not a service dog, they want us to get exact room I can’t believe they can’t check it out if someone is bad enough to bring an animal, my other half is highly allergic to dogs this person should be turfed out on their ear she is so selfish get your act together and do something about this

Very bad pool scene

Glen A on Jun 20, 2022

I was a loyal customer but might have to try a new resort. During this stay, the pool was an absolute mess. There were alcohol containers everywhere and towels were strewn all over. Turns out the hotel offers day passes and that crowd really turns up the partying. Not a place at all to bring the family. The last time I was here, they closed the large pool for a private event that forced everyone to the smaller pool. I get hotels are in a scramble post pandemic but how “low” will they go? JW Marriot is pushing it big time. Very disappointed.
