Yikes...caveat emptor - will not stay here again

First of all, the good: Property grounds are well maintained. Just a short walk to downtown Palm Springs. Connected to the convention center. The bad: This is going to be a much longer and frankly, more important list. The property seemed very understaffed during my visit. On the three times I needed to visit the front desk, only one employee was working there. The rooms, hallways, and meeting rooms are all showing their age. Lots of worn furniture and scuff marks. The big issue, however, is their horrible air conditioning. It was very warm in my room on arrival and I immediately turned the thermostat as low as it went. Left for a 4 hour meeting and when I returned the room was still warm. The air was blowing out of the vent but was not cold air. I went down to the front desk and asked that my unit be looked at while I was at dinner. Upon returning to the room, it was a little cooler and the vent seemed to have somewhat cooler air blowing out...so that was a positive. At 2:30am I woke up in a sweat to have the room just as warm as when I checked in. Tried to ignore it and go back to sleep but eventually needed to call the front desk and requested a fan be brought to my room. Took a while, but did eventually arrive. When I told my co-worker about the issue the next morning, they also said their AC was terrible in their room. Maybe the hotel just was not functioning properly, but with other hotel resort options close by I would just not risk staying at this one.
Very central

My daughter took me here because she had a free night with Chase. It was nice but a little bit rundown. The pool is nice but I don't go to the pool. The room had a balcony which we really liked. it's very central to the main street and the restaurants.
Lush Resort

We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at the Renaissance in Palm Springs. Upon check in, we were upgraded to the executive suite. We were due an upgrade due to having the highest Marriott status. Also at check in, free cookies and cocktails were given out. It must have been happy hour. The room was spacious and would be perfect for about 6 people. It had two bedrooms, one with two double beds, and the other with a king bed. In addition, a pullout sofa and a lovely balcony. The only thing to make it better would be an actual kitchenette rather than just a bar with a fridge. But who can complain with a room this big?! I wish we had time to enjoy the pool area more, but it was huge and very lush. The area is great as it’s a short drive or long walk to many great shops and restaurants. Make sure to stay here!
Outstanding customer service

The stay was pleasant, the pool is nicely maintained and spacious, and same for the room. No complaints! Shoutout to the front desk... everyone I interacted with from check-in to check-out was especially helpful and attentive. There was no airport shuttle (maybe just that one time?), which was a little disappointing, but the Concierge Gordy stepped in and gave me a ride in his personal vehicle. And he was a delight to talk with on the short ride over. It's rare to receive customer service that is truly above-and-beyond. Well done, Renaissance staff!

Justin at the front desk was superb! The pool area was amazing. Food at pool and restaurant was good. Housekeeping staff was very sweet too! Beautiful hotel and area. I look forward to our next visit probably during holidays. Thank you Renaissance team ??
