Horrible! 2nd bad Royalton experience!

Disappointing Stay at Royalton Punta Cana This was my second terrible experience with the Royalton brand—the first being a few years ago at Royalton Saint Lucia where there was actually theft. Both properties suffer from severe lack of staff training and a run-down aesthetic. To top it off, the resort frequently smelled like sewage. Check-In & Accommodations Horrible Check-In-Despite a nearly empty lobby, the wait was ridiculously long. My sister was unwell, but staff repeatedly pushed back our check-in time until management finally stepped in to "miraculously" find a room however THEN The room was not up to par. There were orange stains on the comforter, a filthy bed frame, a disgusting coffee pot, and old, hardened sugar/creamer packets. The shower and toilet were dirty enough that we had to sanitize the room ourselves. The room phone only worked on speakerphone and was missing all instructional stickers for room service or the mini-bar. Dining & App Failures * We weren't told at check-in that reservations were mandatory for almost every restaurant. By day two, everything was booked for the weekend. Despite the reservation-only policy, the restaurants frequently sat practically empty. Staff refused to accommodate us even when tons of tables were visible. Terrible Food Quality: The breakfast buffet was the worst I’ve ever had. Because we couldn't get reservations, we were forced to order room service, which had a severely limited, disgusting menu (you couldn't even order a side of fries). The resort app was completely useless and wouldn't even allow us to order breakfast. Service & Atmosphere Rude Staff: Restaurant staff had terrible attitudes. Bartenders at the main pool bar completely ignored walking guests to slowly cater to a few people inside the pool, despite having five bartenders on duty. The overall vibe was depressing; guests in the lobby consistently looked miserable. No Nightlife: For an all-inclusive, adults-only resort, closing everything down at 10:00 PM makes absolutely no sense. Adults on vacation shouldn't be forced to go to sleep or eat terrible room service that early. I will never stay at a Royalton property again!!!!!!!

Amazing from the start

First of all this hotel is definitely 5 stars for my husband and I. We went for our anniversary and we had an amazing time. From the time we stepped foot on the resort everyone was very nice to us. We had a butler by the name of Omar and let me tell you! That is an amazing man. He did very thing he was supposed to do for us and more. He met all of our needs. Even when we were away doing excursions he still made a point to always check in with us to meet anything we needed and wanted. Winstin was our cabana server. And let me tell you he was such a vibe! They definitely have great energy here at Punta Cana Chic!We will definitely plan to visit here again next year. We love the Royalton Punta Cana Chic!

Beautiful but needs some TLC

Our stay at Royalton Chic Punta Cana was good! The hotel is beautiful! However, the rooms are a little outdated since I last visited in 2023. The common areas, hallways and dining areas were clean The restaurants and entertainment were Great!! The staff was amazing and hostess Nercy treated us with care and kindness. I would visit again.

June 2026 Trip - Honest Review

GOOD: ?? The best staff member at the entire resort was Carlos at the DC beach bar. The first day, he quickly learned our drink preferences and kept them coming the whole afternoon without us ever having an empty glass. Each day after that, we would walk up and he would point to our chairs, which already had towels on them waiting for us, and told us to relax and he’d bring our drinks out. By far the best service we had the entire time! ?? The food was really good for an all-inclusive. We ate at Hunter steakhouse, Vespa Italian, Pescari, and Munchies, and everything was on point! MEH: ????? The butler service at other CHIC properties spoiled us I guess - our butler was definitely nice but all he did was send a good morning text with the day’s activities and make dinner reservations. We asked for a refrigerator restock more than once and never got it. ????? In order to get more drinks for our room when we wanted to lounge in our pool, we had to go down to the DC lounge and ask for them. It was nice having that nearby because our coffee and water wasn’t restocked every day and 5 beers in the mini fridge for two people per day was pretty lame. Still disappointed we had to go get them ourselves and felt sorry for the people that didn’t have DC and couldn’t get drinks. ????? They advertise a casino, and there technically is one, but it only opens at 7 PM and has one roulette table, one blackjack table, and a few slot machines. BAD: ???? I have never been to a place where I’ve been constantly hounded to buy stuff on the actual property. No matter where we went, every 10 seconds someone was yelling at us and waving stuff in our faces to buy. They even came up to our room’s private pool and hounded us from the edge while we were trying to relax. For that alone, I’d never go back to this property. ???? We had two roaches in our room - they were dying and the room had obviously been treated with bug spray, but it was just yuck to see that. ???? The room smelled moldy constantly and it never got better in the 5 days we were there. ???? The seaweed was SO BAD. I completely understand that’s nature and it happens seasonally, but for the hotel to just let it sit on the sand and never clean it up was really disappointing. The mounds grew every day and started to smell on the day we left. Any resort I’ve been to at other places at least had it raked up or moved out by tractors. WORST: ?? Along the same lines as the constant pressure to buy stuff, as we left the room every day there was a booth set up near the DC lounge that we had to pass by, and “Big C” hounded us about sitting through a 25 minute presentation to get a cabana, spa treatment, or private beach dinner. I didn’t realize it wasn’t included with our stay and said ok we will be back tomorrow at 10, then he said ok bring a credit card with you. When I realized it was another sales strategy, we decided we weren’t wasting our precious vacation time to be sold on something we didn’t want. He banged on our door for 5 minutes straight at 10am, then the phone rang off the hook for another 5 minutes. Later when we were on our patio by the pool, he came and stood in front of the pool ledge with his hands on his hips and just stared at us in silence for literally 60 seconds with an angry look on his face. Each day after that, if we saw him he would stop and glare at us intimidatingly - it was super uncomfortable and unprofessional, and I’ve never in my life witnessed a staff member treat guests like this. Final note: My husband and I made the best of it but will 100 percent never go back to this resort or recommend it to anyone we know. We did tip every staff member that brought us food, drinks, and provided services, regardless of how good or bad the service actually was. We’ve traveled so many other places that truly accommodate their guests properly so we are good with never returning to DR after this trip. ??
