Royalton Chic punta cana overpriced, under delivered!

Very disappointing!! Expected a luxury 5 star vacation but the experience at best is a 3 star! Food safety is a concern. No follow up on report filed of broken or missing items in the room. No request were honored. This was supposed to be a memorable 60th birthday trip for 4 best friends...it's memorable but not in a good way. No one seems to care, all they want to do is upset spa, diamond club,wine, steak, etc.

We chose this property as we had stayed here before. We actually had maybe higher expectations seeing it is now a Marriott property. The room was nice and clean and as expected. Our butler Wilmy was the best. He was the best part of the stay. We did opt to do the Diamond Club. The upgraded room and butler service are worth it to us. Otherwise there were not other reasons to get it. Did not feel the food or options at the beach area for Diamond Club felt anything better than what I could get otherwise. The food and service was terrible. I sat by the pool most days. Only once was I asked if I wanted a beverage. One time in my entire stay did a server around the pool serve me. Strange that some of the restaurants were closed two days in a row. Our butler could get us a reservation at the restaurants, but we asked for the steakhouse and were not given a reservation there. Multiple times trying to order items on the menu and was told they did not have the items. (Mozarella in the Italian restaurant, fried calamari at Munchies). Got the fried plate at the Italian restaurant and it seems that they were just items I could have made in my air fryer at home. The actual restaurant servers were very unpleasant and did not care. Same with the staff around the pool. The bartender at the diamond club bar at the beach stood with his phone behind a propped up menu and only paid attention to you when he felt like it. I will say the snacks and service in the Diamond club were probably the best items we ate. It was very evident that they did not care too much on presentation in the restaurants either. The paper printed menus inside the hardcover books could use replacing. If you want to give the experience, it is not hard to reprint the paper in the menu and replace it. The dining experiences asks you to dress appropriately as it is fine dining, but you are handing me ripped, stained and tattered paper for the menu. Pool towels. Very rare to find a pool towel in the morning when going out to the pool. Also the pool towels were tattered and in poor repair. Similar with room towels. Washcloths were not replaced. They took the shower mat and it never came back. I accidentally dropped the body wash bottle and the pump was broken. I showed it to the cleaning woman and she just took the pump off and left the bottle with an open top the rest of our stay. A replacement bottle would make the most sense. We heard other rumblings. One person told us that the property is going to be sold so the workers don't care as well as they are not really putting anything back into the property. Did not have major room issues until the last day. The fire alarm went off a few times in the morning. Then as I was in the shower the lights went out in our room. I would have been worried if we were not leaving. Otherwise our room was fine. We will not return to this property again just based on the experience. We have stayed at other resorts in Punta Cana and I would chose those again over this place.

AMAZING!!

Brayan was amazing at check-in, very informative and positive. He made us feel welcomed during our 5-night stay. Willian helped us with our bags; he was very friendly and made sure we knew where everything was in the resort. I would definitely recommend this resort for a stay in DR.

Zero out Ten

To start with they didn’t have our waterfront rooms ready and apparently it wasn’t just us. So we were downgraded until our rooms were available. They actually blamed us and said we were late and that was why. Then tried to get dinner reservations at any of their restaurants absolutely IMPOSSIBLE!!!! No need to upgrade to Diamond Club no one will even notice! Our rooms came with one bed, they would only put a rollaway bed in them, claiming they were a couples resort even though we met a ton of 20-30 year old groups of friends. The food was terrible, same exact items on the buffet every night! Final straw…we booked and excursion from Amstar, which she was in their resort selling it to us, then the hotel wouldn’t let the bus come in to pick us up due to security reasons. Maria the Amstar representative actually got us a taxi so we didn’t have to go walk to get to the front gate and arrived when we did to get us a taxi to get us back into our own hotel. This also happened to a group of six girls who are waiting to go on an excursion and they wouldn’t let their bus in either. But my Maria from Amstar drove back in and got those girls out too. Now because I don’t want to be negative about everything, they had some good sides too. The bartenders Rosa and Marco were absolutely the best most fun we’ve ever had. Their foam potty was absolutely amazing. Our butler Junior was great but I have a feeling their management might be a tad cheap and won’t let them go out of their way for their guests. I would never book at this resort ever again.

Horrible experience

Check in room was available, everyday was a mix up with something. Staff is horrible management is slow to assist. Overall horrible experience would not recommend to anyone.
