Roberto was excellent. His customer service superb. The hotel amenities were average. Overall the vacation was good. Roberto made use feel important. He answered every question and made sure we were taking care of. He also communicated well with the staff. All the customers loved him.

DO NOT STAY HERE

Marriott should be ashamed to have their name associated with this resort. We chose this resort because we were looking for a luxurious, adults-only, all-inclusive resort for our babymoon. One would think you could trust the recommendations and properties listed on the Marriott app and website, but after this experience, we will be extremely careful when selecting future Marriott stays. Marriott is known to be a prestigious and well-trusted company. My husband is a Platinum Elite member, so we are no strangers to Marriott or the values associated with the brand. Unfortunately, this resort could not have been a further reflection of the Marriott name. From the moment we arrived, it was a disaster. When asking about an upgrade—which, as a Platinum Elite member, is an included benefit when available—we were told there would be an additional charge. No welcome gift or drink was provided. We were not given basic check-in instructions and had to ask simple questions ourselves: What is our room number? How do we get our bags? Where are the amenities? Where do we go for different services? For a resort that presents itself as luxurious, the entire arrival experience felt incredibly disorganized. FOOD SITUATION WAS TERRIFYING The food was some of the worst I have ever experienced at a resort or hotel. Even putting aside how unappetizing the food was, the buffet was supposedly indoors but had absolutely no air conditioning. Dairy, raw meat, eggs, fruit, and other foods were left sitting out and becoming warm, with condensation and bugs present. I personally saw workers handling raw meat without gloves. Normally, I would not be this picky about a resort's food situation. However, I was almost seven months pregnant during this trip, so I was absolutely terrified of getting sick. Every morning, I woke up hoping and praying that I had not caught some type of stomach bug or foodborne illness. RESTAURANTS AND RESERVATIONS Prior to check-in, we were given no instructions about needing reservations for the on-site restaurants, which is something I have never experienced at an all-inclusive resort. The reason you HAVE to make reservations is because only two of the four restaurants are open at a time. On top of that, only about a third of the tables in the restaurants are actually seated, so good luck getting a reservation during your stay. The entire experience honestly felt like a fever dream. It was the same exact food from the buffet and, seemingly, the same servers day after day serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There was very little variety, and the entire dining experience felt extremely limited for a resort that markets itself as a luxury all-inclusive property. THE CAFE There was also a cafe on the premises where you could supposedly get coffee and pastries in the morning, but it was not open for the entirety of our trip. When we repeatedly asked the front desk when the cafe would open, we were told, “Tomorrow.” That answer was given time after time. Then, one day, we walked by to see if it was finally open, only to discover that it was actually under construction. CONSTANTLY BEING HAGGLED I understand that when traveling to certain countries, you may be approached by locals trying to sell products, tours, services, etc. That is part of traveling, and I completely understand that. What I did NOT expect was to be constantly haggled by the resort's own workers throughout our entire stay. It became so uncomfortable that we started avoiding certain areas and limiting our interactions with staff. It was extremely difficult to have a relaxing vacation when we were being approached and pressured from the moment we left our room in the morning until dinner. INACCURATE PHOTOS The photos on the website must have been taken when the resort first opened—or possibly at a different resort altogether—because many of the photos did not match what we actually experienced. My biggest disappointment was the beach. The photos show what appears to be a beautiful, luxurious beachfront. That was absolutely not the case when we arrived. There was maybe 30 feet of actual “sandy beach” frontage, and much of it was occupied by cabanas that were in terrible condition. The beach was the part of the trip I was most looking forward to, so discovering that it looked nothing like the photos was extremely disappointing. All in all, we are extremely upset that we put our trust in Marriott and ended up having our babymoon ruined. From the moment we stepped foot on the property, we could not wait to leave. The entire experience was beyond disappointing. What was supposed to be a relaxing, luxurious babymoon turned into a stressful experience filled with concerns about food safety, limited dining options, misleading expectations, constant sales pressure, and a property that did not live up to the images or reputation associated with Marriott. After this experience, we will seriously question whether we continue choosing Marriott properties for future vacations. If you are looking for a relaxing, luxurious, adults-only, all-inclusive resort, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. BUT If you want to feel like you are on a budget cruise line and get the full elemental feel of being in a third world country- then this is the perfect vacation spot for you.
