STAY AWAY!!

STAY AWAY!! Where do I even begin? This was my 8th Royalton property — and by far the WORST experience I’ve had. It got so bad that I was genuinely counting down the days to go home. We booked the 1-Bedroom Presidential Suite and paid extra for Diamond Club. From the moment we arrived, we did not feel welcome. We stood in the regular check-in line only to be told: “Oh… you’re Diamond Club? Go down there.” Down WHERE exactly? No explanation. No guidance. No escort. Just pointing in a random direction. Then we got to the room… Forget the advertised welcome amenities. What we actually received was a room full of maintenance and safety issues: • Black mold everywhere • Broken sliding bedroom door that looked unstable enough to fall if moved • Broken blackout curtains — literally had to use a clothes hanger to hold them together • Broken bathroom tile with sharp exposed edges. Had I not noticed this during daylight, I could have easily sliced my foot/toes walking through at night. This is supposed to be a Presidential Suite? Now let’s talk about the “premium” food and alcohol experience. Premium alcohol? What a joke. Stoli vodka? Mostly local rum? Over 5 days I saw maybe ONE higher-end bourbon bottle. If you’re expecting a luxury liquor selection, lower your expectations dramatically. Food was equally disappointing. Half the restaurants were closed on alternating days, severely limiting options. Diamond Club supposedly offers an upgraded experience? Not here. Looking for an upscale Diamond breakfast or lunch option? Nope. Your choices are basically: 1. The buffet 2. Lounge/pool food (which, frankly, was disgusting) And the Diamond Club upgrade itself? Save your money. Our “butler” appeared maybe once every other day. Most communication happened through WhatsApp. His primary contribution was restaurant reservations. That’s it. You’re honestly better off skipping Diamond Club, saving the money, and buying a couple bottles of your preferred premium liquor at duty-free before arrival. I’ve stayed at many Royalton resorts, so this review isn’t coming from someone unfamiliar with the brand. I know Royalton CAN do better. But this property felt neglected, understaffed, poorly maintained, and nowhere close to the luxury experience it aggressively markets. If you value hospitality, cleanliness, premium food/drinks, or actually receiving the upgraded experience you paid for — look elsewhere. This was not luxury. This was disappointment with an ocean view. This will be my last Royalton stay.
I won't be going back there ever again

The location isn't bad. The atmosphere is interesting. The rooms are a disaster! I strongly advise against staying here. I never expected to have to sleep for a week in a bed that was practically as wet as the floor. Paying an extra $999.00 for a butler who never showed up. I tried with and without the air conditioning, but nothing changed. Mold everywhere, even on and behind the bed. Even though I asked for another room, a technician showed up at 11 p.m. to check the system. Nothing in return—no discount, no special treatment, not even an apology. On other floors, people were even sleeping with their doors open. Money down the drain. The whole place needs renovating. The sea is always rough, and the beach is always dirty. From the moment I checked in everyone was super friendly! I was weary of booking because of the other reviews I saw but decided to take a chance on this property. I work in hospitality so I try to be more open and understanding when it comes to different properties and not be bias. Pros: - Friendly staff - The property is not super big so it doesn't take a long walk to get to the pool area - Rainy was the waiter I had when I ordered room service in the evening and he was absolutely amazing. - Freddy provided a quick but efficient check in and gave me a lot of information - Beautiful beach front Cons - The pool closes at 7:00PM!!! The main reason I booked this Royalton was because it was adults only so I was super disappointed to see that their pool closed at 7:00PM. - There were only like 4 room service options so there wasn't much variety to pick from - As a tequila drinker I was unable to get any reposado or anejo tequila which I was so sad about and the pool bar was pretty much out of everything I liked Overall, it was just okay. The staff definitely made up for everything it lacked but it has potential to be better than what it is. I also feel like this property is a good introduction to an all-inclusive if you've never done one before but if you have you'll be disappointed.
