Unprofessional and Disappointing Experience** I am deeply disappointed with the experience my daughter and her wedding party had at Bahia Principe Akumal on April 23rd, 2024. The unprofessionalism displayed by the staff was appalling. They lied and misled guests about additional charges, and these charges were added to bills without prior notification. This lack of transparency is unacceptable. Furthermore, the wedding staff, seemingly untrained and lacking compassion, destroyed what should have been a bride's dream day. Their actions were devoid of basic human decency, leaving the bride devastated and the entire experience tarnished. The complete lack of trustworthiness and professionalism demonstrated by Bahia Principe Akumal is shocking. I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment to anyone after such a disappointing and disheartening experience.
Wedding Experience Trouble in Paradise

We went as a large group for a wedding, and stayed from April 19-26. There were some issues. A pre wedding foam party went sideways. A second wedding party joined in, and it got out of control. A staff member waited until our bride was intoxicated, then presented her with a contractual form to sign, charging her $2000. The weather didn’t co-operate on the wedding day (bad luck) BUT there didn’t seem to be a plan B. It resulted in a huge delay, the venue moved from the beach into a theatre with very minimal flowers or decorations (unlike what they had paid to have on the beach) The wedding party had their own issues with the staff leading up to the ceremony which I didn’t witness, but I’m sure they will also be leaving a review for others to consider. We made the best of it, but the way everything was handled by the wedding staff was very disappointing. There was a meeting to discuss partial refunds for services and products that were paid for but not provided. This took up most of a day and resulted in an absolute insulting offer from the resort. Aside from that- the app you need to pre book your restaurant reservations isn’t user friendly. I found it pretty well useless in comparison to some other resorts I’ve stayed at. Not all experiences were terrible, and I realize everyone has different tastes in food and drinks, also what I find fun isn’t necessarily what you might enjoy. But i do know that we won’t be going back to Bahía Akumal.
