First, I want to say that we truly loved nearly everyone we encountered during our stay. The resort is beautiful, the buffet was excellent, and the coffee, cakes, and candy bar were amazing. I also upgraded our package, and our concierge, Jonathan, took exceptional care of us. He deserves an A+. Unfortunately, a few issues significantly affected our experience: Overnight construction I do not understand why construction was allowed to continue throughout the night. On Tuesday, July 14, the noise woke my sons several times, although we were eventually able to fall back asleep. On Wednesday, July 15, the construction kept me awake all night. I had to be up at 3:30 a.m. to leave for the airport, so I received no sleep at all. I was extremely upset, and the exhaustion affected my first day back at work. Guests should be able to expect quiet hours after 10 p.m., particularly at a resort of this caliber. Red Bull pricing I was surprised that Red Bull was not included in our upgraded package, but I was willing to pay a reasonable additional charge. However, I was charged $17 for two Red Bulls on the first day and $20 for two on the second day. I am unsure why the price changed, but both amounts seem excessive. Inappropriate interaction with my son At the buffet on Wednesday evening, my 13-year-old son, who loves sushi, saw a large piece of raw tuna and used the provided tongs to place it on his plate. There was no sign indicating that the tuna was for display only or should not be eaten. A male server approached him, pushed his arm aside, said something in Spanish that my son could not understand, took his plate, and removed the tuna. The interaction was unnecessarily physical and rude. The server should not have touched my son or handled the situation so aggressively. Additionally, the tuna had already been on my son’s plate alongside other food. The server then returned it to the display, which raised serious sanitation concerns. Food quality Outside of the buffet, we found much of the food to be fairly basic and underwhelming. I had heard this might be the case, but I was still disappointed to find it true. Again, the buffet was the exception and was consistently very good. I am sorry to share such negative feedback because there were many things we genuinely enjoyed about the resort. This resort was great all around. There are accommodations for everyone. A must visit for sure. If you are visiting Playa, consider this resort as your next stay!

Traveled as a family with 2 kids aged 6 and 2 and stayed in the family concierge suite. First time taking the kids to an all-inclusive based on the recommendation that the hotel was very kid friendly. Us parents have been to others such as the Grand Velas so we knew this the Paradisus wasn't going to be at that level in terms of food and service. Pretty much echo the same sentiments as other reviewers in terms of positives/negatives. Positives - Great attentive staff and service, lots of kids activities in the morning and shows in the evening, and food was good enough to satisfy everyone. Negatives - Not many food options between the hours of 12-1 as this is when the restaurants turnover, almost excessive upselling for Circle program & massages and such. Seaweed on the beach as well as temperature/humidity are out of the control of the hotel, but are definitely a downside when visiting during the summer months Overall, a great option for families with little kids who are seeking a mix of value and luxury.
