Great room and ocean view. My second time staying at this hotel, I think it was owned by someone else before. Overall good experience.
Dinner menus need work - each night the same entrees were offered. No dinner buffets, that would be nice to add a little variety.
Our room smelled a little moldy when we arrived. We had air freshener so that helped. After housekeeping came in a couple times we figured out she was using a dirty mop and asked her to replace it, problem solved.
One day was totally rained out, thunder storms. We played a couple games of bingo in the lobby but that was all that was offered. It would have been nice if they planned a few more activities.
It was hard to get to the ocean because there was so much seaweed. I've seen hotels move it for guest access but that never happened. A little disappointing.
Beautiful Resort. Wonderful Staff. Excellent dining. We loved our time here...

We arrived at the BEAUTIFUL Hilton Playa del Carmen unannounced (no reservation) at 10 pm. In a taxi. In a foreign country that we had never before visited after literally “bugging-out” of our original resort 7 hours after arriving due to unacceptable and intolerable conditions. To say we were freaked out and a hot mess would be an understatement. We were relieved and grateful to be received by friendly and welcoming bellmen as well as the fabulous Miss Dianna at reception who not only saved the day but saved our entire stay in Playa del Carmen allowing us to look back on our time there with fondness and great memories instead of total disappointment. Priceless! Thank you!!
The resort is truly beautiful inside and out. We experienced outstanding and friendly customer service throughout our stay by every single staff member we encountered. We were a little concerned about the size (500+ rooms) and the atmosphere (party hearty) as we were seeking a smaller more low-key adults-only environment for our time in the region. However, this lovely resort has it all. You can party and dance the days and nights away or completely chill out in peace. They offer tons of activities day and night if you are so inclined. Many wonderful restaurants to choose from. Our personal favorite was “Kalamata” for great filet mignon and fresh burrata caprese salads; yum! The breakfast buffet at “Spice” was great as well with a massive amount of fresh offerings as well as made to order items. We ordered room service a few times and it was on point.
Miss Dianna placed us in a large fabulous suite on the top floor of the “quiet building” with a peek-a-boo view of the ocean and away from the HUGE party pool and lobby area. Sunrises were EPIC. Our suite was beautifully appointed and spotless. All rooms are suites with a large 2-person whirlpool bathtub, a sitting area and a balcony or patio. The swim-out suites look very intriguing but we personally prefer more privacy than they offer. Bathroom was large with plenty of counter and closet space. Decent water pressure in shower. Our bed was dreamy with the best pillows we encountered during our entire two week stay throughout the region. Bed and bath linens were top notch. Wifi was strong. The A/C was a BEAST which was welcomed as we were there mid-June and the heat/humidity index was brutal. Do not underestimate the summer tropical heat as we did; it is INTENSE and we are from Phoenix! The humidity is a whole different ballgame… Housekeeping was great and never intrusive. Our suite was perfectly refreshed every day. Mini-bar refreshed daily. NO in-suite alcohol provided (odd?) We experienced nothing but peace and serenity during our entire stay. We often had the “quiet pool” nearly to ourselves but when we didn’t we were joined by like minded lovely peeps from around the world. Many were returning guests which says a lot. Loved playing ping-pong by the pool and enjoyed great pool-side cocktails. Try the “Miami Vice” if you like frozen fruity drinks.
Sadly the beach was full of vile looking and horrid smelling sargassum as far as you could see in both directions and therefore unusable. This beach loving girl was pretty bummed out but this certainly is not the fault of any of the resorts throughout the Caribbean. Mother Nature is not always pleasant…
Resort is located 3 min walk to the famous 5th Avenue where you will find a plethora of restaurants, bars, pharmacies, markets, trinket shops and such. Be aware that the merchants can tell by your wristbands where you are staying and they will use that information to lure you into their establishments. They can often be quite aggressive so be mindful.
We could not have been happier with this “unexpected” stay. We absolutely loved and enjoyed our time at the Hilton Playa del Carmen and we highly recommend!
Note: If you are looking for a wonderful private tour guide as well as AP and hotel transfers, check out CID Private Transfers. Small family owned business with amazing knowledge of the Yucatan. Carlos and Hazel were delightful to work with. We will definitely utilize their personalized and friendly services again in the future!

Arrived for a 3 night star and booked ocean view .
Next time must request a real ocean view room before arrival as I has a room that could see the ocean with a pair of binnoxulrs .
Service really good food very high fresh quality .
To the people that wrote reviews and complained about seafood you must remember that summer months on the careibean is seaweed season and the beach sucks .
Pool really nice and Plenty free chairs .
If you want a cabana it’s 75 $ little pricey.
Daiquiri. Mixes poor quality needs to up the quality of mix
Pina colada served with suaver flavor syrup
Had a blast and will be back
My advice when staying plata maybe better not all inclusive as som really looking hot spots in the city .
Really enjoyed our selves
Absolute FAVORITE vacation!!

We stayed 5 nights at the end of June for a girls trip. It was everything I’ve dreamed about. The level of service at the Hilton was unbelievable. Everyone at the resort was wonderful but I want to tell you about a few of my favorite people I met.
Polux was absolutely incredible!! I’d go back just to visit with him again. He provided amazing service and was so friendly, kind and helpful. He even escorted us to Kalamata when we didn’t know where to go. I loved him!
Lenin was fantastic! He kept our drinks and food coming and was so fun and personable. Max and Luis were so entertaining and always kept us laughing.
They all made the pool and pool parties so fun that we didn’t even make it down to the beach until our last day.
Word of advice, please tip them all well. They work hard and have to deal with a lot of drunk (and sometimes rude) people so they deserve it!
As for the restaurants, Rincon was phenomenal, the food was delicious and service was nonstop. Kalamata and Asiano were good too but Rincon was our favorite out of the 3 that we tried. Barefoot (beside the main pool) wraps and bowls are amazing! Make sure to try the coffee bar and Spice for breakfast!
We opted for a garden view room (room #1310) since we knew we’d barely be spending time in it and it met all of our needs. It was clean, quiet, comfortable, and I wanted to sneak that mattress home with me.
We enjoyed the resort so much that we didn’t even want to leave to do any excursions but we did book an excursion with BD Experience at the resort to visit Tulum and see the Mayan Ruins. It was incredible and such a great experience. We checked out 5th street and I love that the Hilton practically walks right out onto 5th street! We had so much fun exploring the shops and visiting the local bars.
I have absolutely zero complaints! I’ve been on cruises, tours and to other all inclusive resorts and this was my all time favorite vacation. It was truly an excellent experience and I cannot wait to return!
If you haven’t booked yet, DO IT! And give Polux and Lenin a hug for me when you get there!
Great service at the pool and restaurants.

My husband and I just returned. Room was great, the service at the pool and restaurants were wonderful. Most of the food was incredible. We did eat at one of the restaurants that made us sick, but thankfully that didn’t last long.
The pools were fun and not too crowded, but they close so early. The beach was really not accessible because of so much seaweed…and the seaweed smells horrible.
We were promised a sparkling wine and a sweet treat for my husband’s birthday, but did not receive. When we let the front desk know we were just told they were sorry, but they still did not send it.
For the amount we paid for our room…$400-$500/daily…we were not happy about all the up charges for foods, drinks, and even spa services wanted to up charge for the oils. One of my eyeshadows broke and got all over the sheets. Housekeeping claimed that could not get stain out so we were even charged for sheets. With our white sheets at home, spray and wash takes it out, but I assumed a hotel would wash theirs in bleach, so I’m not sure how it wouldn’t come out.
All of the staff are friendly and so helpful, but I probably won’t stay here again because of all the up charges at an “all inclusive”. I think the charge for the sheets and promising acknowledgment of my husband’s birthday, but doing nothing was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
