The resort is gorgeous. We loved the unending chill vibes, cuisine, drinks, service and more. Zero complaints. We had a blast learning mixology with Luis and Yucatan cuisine with Chef Angie. Our butlers, Berenice and Gigo, took great care of us and we didn't have to worry about a single thing. Highly recommend.

Our trip here was so great! Erick was our local host and he was very helpful making sure we had anything we needed for our weeklong trip. Overall the food variety was great and we were able to try each restaurant during our trip.

Absolutely unacceptable experience – felt forced and intimidated We just returned from UNICO 20°87° Hotel Riviera Maya and I am honestly still in shock over how we were treated at checkout. On day one, the TV in our room was not working. We immediately called maintenance, and they came and fixed it without issue. At no point did anyone suggest there was damage or anything wrong beyond a simple fix. Fast forward to checkout—out of nowhere, we were accused of breaking the TV and told we owed over $1,000 USD. When we refused and explained the situation, things escalated quickly and aggressively. We had around 10 staff members surrounding us, pressuring us to pay and making it clear we would not be allowed to leave until we did. It felt incredibly intimidating and honestly borderline held captive over a charge we did not owe. To make matters worse, we were part of a group of over 60 people traveling to this resort, and this situation completely overshadowed what was supposed to be a great group trip. I have never experienced anything like this at a resort—especially one that presents itself as luxury. There was: • No proof provided • No acknowledgment of the maintenance visit on day one • No professionalism in how the situation was handled Instead, we were met with pressure, intimidation, and an immediate demand for payment. Be very cautious staying here. If something in your room isn’t working, apparently you risk being blamed for it later and forced to pay under pressure. We will absolutely not be returning.

Well, it also helps that it's a lush, tropical setting, great food and drinks, clean and quiet and adult only. You can read my other reviews of Hard Rock and Unico, as the quality and variety have remained top notch. It is, however; the staff that brings us back. Here are some exceptional "friends" to look for: Laura (our Local Host), Ricardo (Activities/Bellman), Jasmine (our Hostess @ 20 87 Breakfast), Bryan (our Pool Concierge/Towel Guy) and Maria "Ana"stasia (my wonderful Masseuse). This was an anniversary trip and we were treated like royalty. Hope you enjoy your experience as much as we did.

Thirty years together, and somehow this place still feels like a new chapter in our story. Returning to UNICO 2087 felt less like a vacation and more like coming home—only better. There’s something quietly magical about a place that remembers you, that greets you with warmth, and wraps you in a sense of ease the moment you arrive. As a couple who has traveled and returned before, we can say with certainty: the service here is not just good—it’s heartfelt. And above all, it feels safe, which allows you to truly relax and just be. The resort offers an abundance of dining options, each one more impressive than the last. The new French restaurant was absolutely lovely—romantic, refined, and unforgettable. The Beef Wellington is a must. And the Japanese experience? Even if sushi isn’t your thing, it’s still an experience worth savoring. Our mornings, however, belonged to the Italian restaurant by the water. Breakfast there, with the gentle breeze and stunning views, became a daily ritual. And Luis—his humour and charm—was something we looked forward to every single morning. While the beach may not be picture-perfect, it is still very much enjoyable—and truthfully, the pools more than make up for it. Whether you’re in the mood for a lively, contagious atmosphere or a quiet, peaceful escape, there’s a pool for every personality. One of our favorite memories was floating under the sun as a saxophone player performed—pure magic. The energy brought by Brian, Diego, and the rest of the team is infectious. They make you feel seen, welcomed, and completely taken care of. And speaking of exceptional people—Rosy. We truly cannot say enough about her. Every visit, she leaves a lasting impression. She goes above and beyond in a way that feels genuine, never forced. We find ourselves looking forward to seeing her again before we’ve even left. She is, without question, an exceptional part of this resort. Alam, our concierge host, was equally wonderful—attentive, thoughtful, and always making sure everything flowed seamlessly. We also took full advantage of the spa, and with the available credits, it became an indulgence we didn’t feel guilty enjoying. It was relaxing, rejuvenating, and something we would absolutely do again. If we’re being honest, the only small hiccup was that late checkout wasn’t available—but even then, the team went out of their way to accommodate us and ensure we felt cared for until the very end. Rosy and Alam especially made sure of that. I loved being thought of?? What made this trip even more meaningful, though, was the people. Celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary here, we met couples from all over the world—people who, within moments, felt like old friends. There was something special in those conversations, in the shared laughter and stories. They’ve left a heartprint we’ll carry with us long after we’ve returned home. I love how all countries get along so peacefully. Ice cream stations, lovely coffee shop, bars, live music, pool parties, beach party, weddings, wellness activities-something for all and certainly all welcomed?? UNICO 2087 is a place that lets you create your own experience—whether that’s through yoga, activities, quiet reflection, or vibrant connection. There truly is something for everyone. And for us, it’s now forever tied to love, to memories, and to the beautiful reminder that even after 30 years, there are still new moments waiting to be discovered—together. We will be back. We already know that.
