Better than we imagined

kato42 (Honolulu, Hawaii) on Sep 02, 2024

We had a fantastic stay at Valentin. Everyone from the front desk to the barstaff were very accommodating and we received exceptional service. Our room was right on the beach and we were able to enjoy sunrises every morning. The food, especially in The Hacienda, was fantastic and we definitely appreciated the coffee bar. Don Miguel's bar was our favorite to grab a cocktail before or after dinner.

Relaxing Stay, but Not Fully Accessible

ajones928 (Seattle, Washington) on Aug 31, 2024

I stayed in a room with my wife as part of a larger family reunion on her side (13 people total). Overall, the resort has an incredible, relaxing atmosphere. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and I had no problems communicating in English at any point. There is a consistent commitment to putting on fun and engaging events. The food is good overall, but there were some hiccups including consistency issues with the same items. For example, my wife ordered the same coffee most mornings from the coffee shop and most of the time it was extremely good but one time it was merely "OK" and one time it was so bad she threw it out. Overall, we loved the Italian restaurant, the Mexican restaurant, the beach restaurant specifically as an a la carte option for breakfast and lunch, and the "romantic dinner on the beach" which was an upcharge but (in our opinion) was worth every penny. However, my wife is physically disabled (cannot stand without assistance) and requires use of a powerchair. In her words, the resort has a "B minus" in accessibility. There were multiple small areas, mainly sections of restaurants and the theater, that could not be reached by her powerchair without picking up the entire thing, which in our case requires at least three people due to its weight. Notably, this also includes the (otherwise amazing) balcony/patio area for our "accessible" room. The door to the balcony/patio has a raised track on the ground that her chair could not navigate, and even if it did, there's another ~6in drop between the door and the lounge chairs by the swim-up pool. Additionally, the grab bars in the bathroom were quite small which created a lot of trouble transitioning onto and off of the toilet throughout our stay, and she was never able to successfully use any bathroom on the resort other than the accessible one in our room. Ultimately, none of these issues were so great that they couldn't be overcome with help from an able-bodied assistant, but they should be noted for anyone else in a similar situation. With that said, I do want to stress that we overall had a great time, and the majority of the resort is accessible. Even if sections of certain restaurants cannot be reached for example, we were able to eat at all of the restaurants which we chose to dine at. Additionally, there are tons of foam floatie rafts in the pools which were extremely helpful in making it easy for my wife to stay safely afloat when she was in the water even without ongoing assistance (though getting into and out of the pool required assistance). Overall, it should also be noted that the staff was extremely accommodating in whatever ways were feasible, including storing a beach wheelchair for us outside of our room and letting us have our "romantic dinner on the beach" at the beach restaurant instead of the beach itself. Ultimately, I would highly recommend this resort for anyone who is not bound to a wheelchair. My wife and I both really wish the place was slightly more accessible as we would love to return if only some of the accessibility hassles weren't problems.

Beautiful Resort

Steve A (Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania) on Aug 28, 2024

Beautiful resort . Staff was incredible and did everything they could to make your stay better. We had a silver suite which was perfect for us size wise and was in a great location for the restaurants . The food was probably the best we ever had at an all inclusive resort. We ate at 5 different restaurants and did not have a bad meal . Shout out to Joel at the main pool bar for great friendly service. There are a couple of reasons why i didn’t give the resort a 5 star review. The palapas at the pool fill up first thing in the morning and there is not a lot of shade elsewhere. Only 2 beers available at the pool Coors light and warm tap beer . To me all the drinks tasted the same like they had the same sweet base no matter what you ordered. Finally i know its not the resorts fault but the beach was not swimable i am assuming due to the hurricane in June which was a huge disappointment to my wife and I . In closing i definitely would go back because of the beauty of the hotel, the staff and the restaurants which were great .

Great experience in every way!

The resort was amazing! Great food. The GO Team entertainment staff were absolutely fantastic. Fun activities. Loved all of them. Make sure you bring water shoes for the beach and cash for tipping. They don’t expect it but they work very hard and they deserve it. I went with my adult daughters and it was a trip to remember. Weather outstanding.
