Review of Ventus At Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort

mikem633 on May 19, 2026

Ventus At Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort features a contemporary, stylish aesthetic that blends local Mexican materials with modern design. Because it shares facilities across a sprawling complex, there is plenty of space to roam, though the layout means walking up to 20 minutes to cross between sister properties. The vibe leans family-oriented and can get lively and loud during peak times due to children's activities and music by the main pools, though adults-only spaces are carved out for quieter moments. The Beach: While beachfront, guest reviews note that the actual beach is often plagued by heavy sargassum seaweed, resulting in an unpleasant odor and making the ocean water less than ideal for swimming. The Pools: High points include a massive main pool featuring waterfalls, swim-under bridges, and in-water lounge chairs. A distinct adults-only pool area is situated near the beach.

Captive Dolphins removed a star immediately! The Pros/Cons of our anniversary trip.

Moira L on Apr 29, 2026

My husband and I went for our 1 year wedding anniversary. We booked platinum club through costco travel. I did not know this resort had captive dolphins when we booked. They are on the Marina sister resort so it did not come up in our booking information. We do not support this and do not think this should even be an "attraction". During the bike tour, we were informed that this resort is environmentally conscious. They protect 200 acres of land/mangroves surrounding the resort, which is wonderful. So, why have captive dolphins to "entertain" tourists if you claim to care about the land and animals? For this reason, I can not rate this a 5 star resort. Outside of that - the only other con was the beach. We came during sargassum season, so the smell was quite something, but out of the control of the resort. Lots of beach seating! However, there were large concrete barriers in the swimming area, so it did not seem like a nice area to swim when there is no seaweed. Pros - Food! Everything was absolutely delicious, lots of choices at the buffets. Restaurants were excellent. We had no issue getting reservations. Staff - Everyone was so friendly and helpful, and it felt genuine. Cleanliness - one of, if not, the cleanest resort we have been to. You don't have to pay for Cabanas! We loved that you could just lounge on a Cabana without having to pay for it or book it. And there was always loads of seating so we could get up and eat breakfast and find a nice spot even at 9 or 10 in the morning. There were still towel seat savers, but you didn't have to move towels that had been there for hours with no one in sight as good seating was plentiful. (The resort also had signs that reserving seats was not allowed and towels would be removed after an hour if no one was there - which in busier seasons is great.) Platinum Club - we enjoyed being able to pop into the lounges and get premium liquors and request little extras. Our Butlers Leo & Eric were wonderful. Excellent communication. They did a romantic surprise in our room for our anniversary, which was so thoughtful. They checked in daily and got me a full bag of chips instead of me going back and forth with handfuls from the Platinum lounge (which sounds silly, but it was really nice) Free bike trip & the wine/tequila tasting provided by the resort. We loved that the report provided these for free. The bike ride was fun and a nice way to see a little bit of Puerto Morelos. Entertainment was great, lots of options of shows and activities daily. Going between sister resorts was fun as the vibe of each resort is very different. The pool at the Marina side was way too loud for us, so we enjoyed the ventus and ventus ha for a more laid back time. Again, if there weren't captive dolphins, I would come back in a heartbeat. However, everyone has their thoughts and opinions, so hopefully, this review is helpful.

Great week in Mexico!

David O (Bridgeport, Connecticut) on Apr 28, 2026

We had a certificate for a free week at any of the 3 hotels here. We originally booked at Marina. When we arrived we upgraded to a room with 2 beds on the first floor facing the infinity pool at Ventus which included the Platinum Club for about $900. Our butlers were Omar and Gerson. We didn't need their services much but when we did they were quick and helpful. Luis was outstanding in serving us at the pool. We had a great week. The room was clean and well situated to get to the restaurants. We ate at the Italian, Japanese, Mediterranean, French and Buffet for dinner. We especially liked the Japanese and French restaurants. The food was generally good. A lot depends on individual tastes. The shows in the evening were very good to excellent. We missed an Abba show but everyone said it was very good. We did see a Disney show with excellent dancers. We also saw an acrobatic show and a fire show. A few things to know. If you want to swim in the ocean then this is not a resort for you. The sargassum was never ending. See the picture. The hotel had workers constantly raking and disposing of it but as soon as they moved it more came in. There is no food service at the pools except for some snacks in a Platinum Club lounge. To have lunch you need to go to a restaurant. They do have bars and servers at the pools for drinks starting about 10 am in the morning. Our room was cleaned daily but usually in the late afternoon. My guess is that they do the rooms that are needed for incoming guests before doing those already there. If walking is an issue you can have a golf cart take you where ever you need to go to. There was some noise filtering into the room but it wasn't awful and none was from the room above us. Overall this was a great week at a great value.

Will Not Disappoint!! Beautiful Resort

Tracey C (Halifax, Canada) on Apr 17, 2026

This was our first trip to Ventus at Marina El Cid and definitely plan on returning! The resort is beautiful, the rooms are lovely, comfortable and clean. The property is well looked after, and all staff about the property are incredibly helpful and friendly. The food was excellent, we really enjoyed the numerous selections and quality. We upgraded to the platinum package and what a treat! We could have not asked for better service than was provided by our butlers Hugo, Noah and Luis. Exceptionally helpful, genuinely kind young men! What a pleasure to have met you. This resort is lucky to have these gentlemen representing them. Thank you for your service and hospitality!! What a wonderful vacation you helped make for us! Will definitely recommend!!
