Reviews
I won't be back
Ted R (Vermont) on Feb 02, 2023
I stayed here for a business trip and booked based on reviews. I should have followed my gut and stayed at one of the other places i have been to previously when coming to SF. Checking in was a problem because their keycard machine was not working. After about a half hour of sitting in the lobby (with other guests who could not go to their rooms either) I got up and asked the young lady at the front desk. She immediately got very terse with me and told me that the people who could "fix" the machine were "in a meeting." My thought was "well get their butts out of a meeting so we can get keys and go to our rooms"! Guests first, correct? It was only after I suggested that someone from housekeeping or maintenance could take us to our rooms that we were finally brought up to our rooms. Even after all that, I had to call to the front desk to ask for a key, and it seemed like it was a total surprise that I was asking for keys. My room was "OK" - but just OK. The light in the entry does not work (switch is broken?), and the light on the desk does not work. I was told by one of the staff that maintenance would be up to take a look, but that did not happen. This hotel is in need of an update. Everything in the hotel feels pretty worn and tired. One thing that is out of the Marker's control is the quality of the area, and the number of homeless people that are around. Sorry, but I won't be back to this hotel on future business trips.
The Marker hotel is just better.

The marker hotel in San Francisco is a quiet refuge in the storm of the city. It’s calm and quiet and beautiful and clean! My room was clean and cozy and the bed was so comfortable. The lobby is amazing with two beautiful fireplaces and a gorgeous staircase. The staff is accommodating, friendly, and kind. This will be my go to hotel from now on in San Francisco.
