Another amazing stay at the Westin

mauijim96761 (Lahaina, Hawaii) on Jun 15, 2025

My friend and I just stayed again for our 5th time at the Westin St Francis and wouldn't stay anywhere else. From the amazing customer service to the awesome location at Union Square, the Westin is the place to stay. We'll definitely be back again soon. Thank you Westin team.

Historic stay - felt like royalty

Holly K (Madagascar) on Jun 11, 2025

Beautiful hotel with very helpful staff. Jeff Aquino told us all the best places to go! We had never been to San Francisco before but would come back again. Especially if we got to stay here at the Westin St. Francis. We were sad to miss the historical tour of the hotel which is only on Saturday mornings.

Deceptive resort fee perks information - bad customer service experience

Jasmine S (San Francisco, California) on Jun 08, 2025

I would have given them 5 stars if they had handled their "resort fee perks" honestly. When we checked in they said with our $35 resort fee we would receive a $20 credit at any of the hotel dining options as long as we used the $20 before we checked out. We planned to get scones the first night and a specific dessert the next day. First, we received a bill to our email the morning of our stay that said the scones had been charged to the card on file (no deduction for the credit). So instead of jumping on the cable car early I had to stand in line to have it removed. At that point she said it had already been removed, which begs the question, why was I charged for it on my bill? Next, she said we could not use the remaining $14 of our credit because you have to use the $20 in ONE transaction. This was not written on the guide they gave us, nor was it communicated the three times we went over everything with the front desk. Despite the poor billing, missing our cable car, dragging my kids in line, and escalating to a manager, the response was "tough luck - we don't care of it was our mistake. We're not fixing it." I offered to pay again for the scones to receive the whole credit again. Very reasonable! But no, they couldn't care less. I wrote sample language for them to add to their "resort fee" rules: "The $20 must be used in one transaction." If that was there, we would have used the whole amount the first day. We can afford a dessert if we want it, but the point is that it's misleading language and they just don't care if it is. Bad customer service at a time when downtown San Francisco is in its death clutches and the city needs all it can get. A hotel like this should know better and do better.

Perfect place to stay in San Francisco!

Calif0rnia_traveller (Oxnard, California) on Jun 07, 2025

Wow! Our stay here exceeded our already high expectations in almost every way! We were promptly greeted by a valet parking attendant who also took care of our luggage. We were then warmly greeted by Azucena at the front desk. She was very welcoming, explained everything, and made our granddaughters feel like very special guests. We had a suite in the original landmark building, but Azucena suggested we take our granddaughters on the elevator in the tower building to enjoy the view from the elevator windows. They loved it! So did we. We stayed in a "Classic 1-Bedroom Executive Suite" in the landmark building. It was perfect! I highly recommend this room category. It has historic charm like high ceilings, decorative moldings, gold doorknobs and a chandelier in each room. It appeared to be recently refurbished, including plentiful outlets and a beautiful bathroom. There was a separate living room which, fortunately, was large enough for 2 rollaway beds. The only negative of the entire stay was the mattress on the sleeper sofa. I don't expect much of these, but this was unusable, even for an 8 year old. There was no padding and it was like laying directly on the springs. Thankfully, they brought a second rollaway very quickly so both granddaughters had very comfortable beds. Another example of the excellent service throughout our stay! The club lounge was one of the best we've been in. It's very large and elegantly furnished. There was plenty of seating even during the busy breakfast time. The evening food and breakfast both had a great variety of high quality food. And the service was excellent. The location is perfect. Right across from Union Square. Many restaurants, coffee shops, and stores nearby. And the Cable Car starting point is only 2 blocks away. We've stayed in several San Francisco hotels over the years and this is by far our favorite. We will be back!

A true 5-Star Experience at the Westin St. Francis on Union Square

MEDDLP (Kansas City, Missouri) on Jun 05, 2025

Our family had a amazing stay at The Westin St. Francis. It's rare these days to find a hotel that still offers true 5-star service, but this iconic Union Square gem delivered in every way. From the friendly, professional staff to the beautifully updated lobby and club lounge, everything was top-notch. The kids loved the glass elevators with incredible city views, and we loved the spacious, well-kept rooms and exceptional housekeeping. We also appreciated the hotel's effort to preserve its rich history, with photos of famous guests like Queen Elizabeth and President Obama displayed thought. Thank you to the St Francis team for a stay that brought back the kind of hospitality we thought was long gone. Highly recommended!
