Great location and comfortable stay!

Kim6-2014 (Houston, Texas) on Jul 02, 2022

Location is excellent. Our room was spacious and clean. We did not utilize the other services in the hotel (did not have our room cleaned either during our stay) and the only negative was the line for check in and check out. Would definitely consider staying here again!

Large comfortable rooms in excellent location

joni960 (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) on Jun 26, 2022

I stayed in a Deluxe King on the 19th Floor of the Tower Building for 5 nights during a business trip. The room was quite large. It had an entrance hall with a large closet and table with a bar/coffee station. The entrance hall connected to the bedroom through another hallway, and the bathroom was located off of that hallway through a pocket door (see photos). The bedroom area was quite large, with two chairs, a table, dresser and a work desk. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. My only (minor) complaint about the room was the shower. The valve connected to the plunger on the spigot that turned on the shower did not fully close, so water continued to run out of the spigot while the shower was on, which I think decreased the shower pressure. The fitness center is spectacular. It is one of the largest and best-equipped hotel fitness centers I have ever encountered. The only downside is, to get to/from the fitness center from the Tower Building, you have to walk through the lobby. The cafe in the lobby has many options if you need to grab a quick bite at pretty much any time of the day. I had breakfast in the full-service restaurant one morning, which offers a high-end buffet. The location on Union Square is perfect. Plenty of shopping and restaurants within a few block radius. There are two good diners (Sears Fine Foods and Pinecrest) within a block of the hotel if you want to grab a meal outside the hotel without going far.

Marijuana for your kids and sleeper sofas that don’t sleep - still, nice hotel

wanderlust-usa801 (Washington DC, District of Columbia) on Jun 22, 2022

Overall the hotel is nice, the rooms are good, staff were friendly, and the breakfast buffet reopened 7 days a week (though the front desk staff didn’t believe me about this). But a couple of issues. Our room had an adjoining door with a constant amount of marijuana smoke coming through to where my kids slept. We reported it five different times but the room reeked of pot. Security came by and advised that there were a bunch of ESPN guys staying at the hotel for the NBA finals, implying that ESPN employees are apparently known for smoking weed. He eventually said he would go ask the occupant to stop smoking, but didn’t commit to anything more than a kind plea. The smoke continued (despite several more calls) until we saw the occupant leave a few days later. I was unhappy my kids were subjected to substantial second-hand pot. On check in the Marriott elite line was long with one person working and a lot of frustrated members waiting. When I got to the front, you could see around the pillar in the middle of the room that the non-member line had zero wait and two people working. People were walking straight up to the desk, but they didn’t think to help out with the elite line. This was poorly managed. More importantly, we paid for a suite room with a fold-out bed for the kids. When we finally got into the room, the fold-out sofa was there but unusable. The living room was so small in the room that the sofa physically could not be folded down because of an immovable marble tv table in the way. Luckily we were there early enough that they had one other suite they could move us too. But they were booked and told us the last suite reservation holder of the day would get that small living room. You shouldn’t advertise a suite with a sofa bed if it doesn’t actually work. They offered to send rollaway bed, but there was no space to put them in the living room area. Some of the above were unique circumstances that I don’t expect every occupant will have to endure, so I still like the hotel overall despite the issues we faced.

One of oldest hotels in San Francisco

Nomadic1310 (Jebel Ali, United Arab Emirates) on Jun 21, 2022

First time in San Francisco and I was so excited to stay in this historical hotel however I was disappointed in many aspects. The hotel is very old and in need of renovation. Buffet breakfast was so limited with very few options only mainly pork sausage and beacon which I don’t eat and even the pastry wasn’t fresh at all as if it was baked few days ago. Lack of English speaking housekeeping led to a lot of misunderstanding I requested for slippers and had to wait for 2 hrs and follow up many times and last call they say we have delivered it . Apparently they have delivered to a different room. Housekeeping wasn’t the best as apparently they don’t vacuum the room and I saw dust on daily basis . On the positive note the hotel is central location and walking distance within the city and I must praise the concierge David he is such a lovely person and very helpful .
