Fantastic holiday, can’t wait to go back!

We stayed at the Bay Gardens Hotel for 12 nights in August, as a family with two children (aged 9 and 6), and had a fantastic holiday! I was aware this was a 3* resort when we booked, and had expectations to match, but in many areas I felt this hotel surpassed 4* and 5* hotels we have stayed in. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The service can be on the slow side occasionally, but to be fair, I’m not sure how quick I’d be in 30+ degrees heat! This is all part of the Caribbean experience, and we never waited an unreasonable amount of time for service or food. Helena in the restaurant deserves a specific mention, our children were genuinely upset to say goodbye on our last day. We enjoyed the variety of food, and the option to order from a menu for most lunches/dinners. The buffet selection is small (it’s a small hotel so don’t expect the large buffet choice of a bigger hotel, but it also didn’t have the frantic energy of those really large hotels’ buffet restaurants which was nice) but all of us always enjoyed the food on offer. They have a few themed nights, including Italian and Indian, the Indian in particular was excellent. We often ate at the Beach Resort for lunch, which was comparable to the Hotel, and once for dinner, which I didn’t think was quite as good as the Hotel, but was nice for a change of scene. The room was a good size for four of us with plenty of storage. The air con and WiFi worked well (though we spoke to guests who were staying nearer to reception who struggled with their WiFi signal) and the beds were fine. The main negative for us was the shower water pressure, which was quite low. The pools are all quite small, but the benefit of having them spread across the hotel was that we often had one to ourselves. The pool towels were sometimes quite old, but it was easy enough to change them the next day. We often used the complementary transfer to the Beach Resort (runs hourly from 9.30am to 10.30pm) to visit the beach, which was a brilliant and said to be the best on the island. The kids loved the splash park here and there was some interesting snorkelling (I saw an octopus!). We didn’t do many trips preferring to spend time at the beach or pool, but did visit Pigeon Island (15mins away, quite a walk to the top but worth it for the views, plus better snorkelling here than at the Beach Resort), the Friday Night Street Party (go later and without kids!) and Smugglers Cove (15mins away, amazing snorkelling, best of the holiday). Overall, we loved our holiday, so much so, we plan to return next year.
What a fantastic friendly hotel

We (parents and 2 daughters 17&20) are just back from an 11 night stay at the Bay Gardens Hotel. I’m not one to write reviews but this was a great holiday to St Lucia. From the day we arrived to leaving the staff were so helpful and friendly, front desk restaurant staff and housekeeping were so accommodating to us. Having the use of the Beach Resort as part of the package, we went AI on a very good BA deal and spent a lot of our time at the beach. Shout out to Solana Watersports team too, always happy to help and we booked their day motor boat excursion which was fantastic, shout out to everyone there. Food was good, Sea Grapes by far the best restaurant, but all good, we ate too much, and tried so many cocktails as all inclusive - so good. It is a 3 star hotel, so don’t expect 5 star and you will have a great time. It is the only St Lucian family owned hotel group left in St Lucia and everyone is family, staff and guests. Too many people to thank individually but big shout out to Helena in the Hotel, what a lady. If you book her you will have a great time, oh and the cats that others have mentioned they just add tio the experience, just don’t feed them ….
