Relaxing week at a beautiful resort
Vacation67274729748 (Toronto, Canada) on Feb 03, 2023
I stayed at the Level section of the resort with my best friend for 1 week, and we had an amazing time. Our bungalow suite was spacious and very clean. The whole property is lovely. We had access to 2 private pools as well as the regular pools and a private section of the beach. The beach was like something out of a movie - white sand and clear, turquoise water. Cuba is not known for having great food at the resorts, and Cuba is definitely suffering from shortages right now. That said, the buffet had plenty of options for both vegetarians and meat-eaters. This included many fish, poultry and meat options cooked to order on a grill at both lunch and dinner. There was a large salad bar, many cooked vegetable, bean and rice options, and “American” options, like pizza and pasta. You will not starve! The Limoncello restaurant was available for Level room guests at breakfast and lunch with beautiful tables overlooking the ocean where we had breakfast each morning. In our opinion, the buffet was better than the a la carte restaurants. The a la carte places basically had the same food as the buffet, but much more limited options. There was also food available at the golf club cafe and pool bar - grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, beef and chicken burgers, hot dogs and fries. Service was excellent. The people working at the Level Concierge office were especially helpful with getting my friend’s wifi to work (thanks, Frank!) and helping set up a classic car trip to Matanzas (thanks, Laura!). Speaking of wifi - it is available, but we were constantly getting kicked off and having to log in again with a lengthy ID and password. It was nice to disconnect, but just a head’s up. Lastly, be sure to bring your essential items, especially toiletries like feminine products and sunscreen. These were nowhere to be found, including at the hotel gift shop or the Plaza Americas shopping mall near the hotel. We had brought all items in our carry on bags, but be aware you will not find items to purchase. The grocery store we went to for snacks was half empty and no food other than canned beans. We brought US dollars for tipping. We did not need to change money into pesos, and in fact, were advised not to. Most places take credit cards (charged in US dollars) or any foreign currency (Canadian dollars, Euros).
Had an amazing vacation!

We got back today from Melia Las Americas in Varadero.. we had an amazing time, the food was plentiful, lots of choices.. beach are is clean and beautiful. The hotel is well maintained and the workers work so hard to keep everything beautiful and sparkling. Staff at this resort are friendly, hardworking and treated us so well … Names to mention at the Lobby bar Raul, Rossana, Yoalkis .. made and served our drinks with a smile and we had so much fun with them … The entertainment group on the beach were wonderful and always had fun things to do and we had plenty of laughs with all of them .. names to mention Elsy ( who recognized us from another resort we visited years ago) Ankis who everyday greeted us with a smile. Lizo DJ who played great music on the beach everyday… Then Isis who worked in customer relations was absolutely wonderful and helped with any questions or concerns… Don’t forget tip money and hygiene, medicine to give away if you can they appreciate all of it!
