Second visit, no regrets

Canada365 (Canada) on May 10, 2024

We stayed at an H10 in the Canary Islands a few years ago, so in 2023 we decided to try this (in spite of some poor reviews). We were not disappointed, and decided to return in 2024. In both cases, we booked directly through the H10 app, as we saved money and felt we had a better way to communicate with the hotel. We did this for our Canary Islands trip as well. Keep an eye on their app for discounts! The app also allows you to pre-check in. So some stuff was managed early. We did book Privilege both trips, and upgraded to a master swim up suite for both trips. I am pretty sure, and reviews tend to confirm this, that our experience was more positive as a result. Check in was easy. We were provided a welcome drink, introduced to our Butler, Alexander, and taken to our room. Alexander took tremendous care of us for the 10 days we stayed. Excellent communication. Booked all our dinner reservations, and had lots of great advice and insights. Yes, there are people in white shirts offering a “welcome gift” or calling your room to offer it. We declined without issue/pressure, but met a number of people who put up with the 3 hour sales pitch so that they could get a free massage! So if that’s your thing, and you have time to spare, go for it. Otherwise it’s just a waste of 3 hours, with no real benefit (unless joining the club is a goal). Our room in building 4, was fantastic. Very spacious, clean and well appointed, with excellent proximity to the beach and to the Privilege restaurant. It was a bit stuffy, but the AC worked well as did ceiling fans. Temps were nice. Room was always kept clean, well stocked with towels (and even facecloths …which can be hard to come by at many of these resorts). The ladies who clean work very hard, long hours and were super kind. As some reviews point out, the floors could use a bit more attention, but with the salt, sand and water we probably dragged thru each day, I imagine it’s an impossible task (without many more staff). But everything seemed clean, especially where it really mattered. We left a thank you note in Spanish, and a small tip every day. These folks don’t get paid enough for the work they do. We did our best to keep the room tidy, but you can imagine that’s not the case for some rooms. The mini bar fridge did not cool too well, but it was well stocked. If we wanted more or less of somethings, we wrote notes in Spanish and left them in the mini bar. Food was pretty good for the most part, and as expected. We ate at all of the restaurants, except Route 66. Service was also good. I actually quite liked the buffet too.Lots of hot options if you look for them. Don’t expect premade buffet food selections to stay hot for long though. Didn’t bother us at all. Breakfast was good at Privilege lounge, but rather disappointed with the dinner and lunch at the Privilege restaurant this time. 2023 was much better. Some of it was even rather off putting…and we mostly avoided eat in dinner there. 2023 it was our go-to. Bars were great. Best margaritas can actually be found at the sports bar…with the beach bar being a close second. I should add that Privilege gives access to requesting top shelf booze. A big plus. All in all a nice stay yet again. Only real negative was the large amount of trash we found on the beach and surrounding area (not the seaweed as they work hard to keep that up). Shame a resort that pegs itself as eco-friendly would just let that happen. We took very few pictures on the beach as it was hard to crop some of that out. It wasn’t that bad in 2023. I know some of the issues are local, and disrespectful tourists a huge contributor, but H10 needs to pay a bit more attention if they are going to peg themselves as being eco-conscious.
