Disappointed

sunnylagirl (Los Angeles, California) on May 03, 2024

I just stayed at this hotel for business. I have stayed here before and loved it. I have to say I am disappointed. How does a hotel this size not have valet, or luggage service (they have luggage racks that GUESTS can use on their own)?? Even when the front desk could see I have mobility issues I had to ASK them for assistance instead of them offering. There are little tiny bugs all over the bathroom sink. The water when it comes out of the sink is WHITE (see photo). They said they would send an engineer/plumber and they never did. Also, how is there no eggs on the in-room dining menu when the actual hotel website shows a picture of eggs and sausage under in-room dining? They serve 4 menu items one of them being french toast WHICH TAKES EGGS TO MAKE. The 4th floor ice machine was not working and there isn't even one on the 3rd floor. I shouldn't have to run all over the hotel looking for ice. UPDATE: they fixed it. Although the staff is very nice - I compliment them. Especially in the restaurant - Damon and Jeremy. Management should be doing better though because this is a 'resort'.

Great hotel

Gordy was the best, great customer service and made excellent drinks at night. He also gave my daughter a wand and a tiara.

Big Hotel Close to PSP

Alden C (Chicago, Illinois) on Apr 13, 2024

I stayed at the Renaissance Palm Spriings on a work trip I took alone in April 2024. It's really a short drive to PSP. They don't have a shuttle which is a shame given the very short drive. It's almost an airport hotel. It's a low lying very wide hotel. So the breadth of the hotel is the challenge here and not so much a height issue that leads to issues like waiting for an elevator. I was able to check in early and they gave me an upgrade. So right away first impression was great. The room was very spacious and eclectically decorated. The bed was very comfortable and the temperature control was good (which, given the area's climate is key). Besides being a short drive from the airport, the hotel is a good ten to fifteen minute walk from downtown Palm Springs. It takes about ten minutes to get to viable food options. The nearest bona fide grocery store if you want to stock up on creature comforts (large water bottles, Coke [since it's a Marriott property, all they have on site is Pepsi] and snacks) is about a 25 minute walk away. The property itself was very clean. Housekeeping was pretty timely on a daily basis, meaning I didn't have to wait until 3 or 4 pm to have my room turned over. Everything was on a very large scale and the space felt open. I really enjoyed working in the lobby area during the mornings and breaks in the conference I attended. Wifi worked okay. I used the gym every day. It was very nice and looked out onto the pool. Even though I didn't partake, the pool looked very busy. Another thing I didn't partake in is the free happy hour drink that occurs from 4-5 p.m. They're not joking about the hour though, I arrived at 4:57 p.m. one day and they had shut it down, so if you want one, be there on time. The conference I attended was in the hotel and the food was pretty good. I didn't buy any of the food at the hotel (restaurant, room service) so I can't really speak to that. I think the hotel was a good option for me as a home base for the conference I attended and for my first time visiting Palm Springs. I don't know if I'd return only because Palm Springs was meh for me.

Location & Pool are fantastic, rooms need TLC

jessica939 (Tacoma, Washington) on Apr 04, 2024

Overall, the resort was great. Location and pool were awesome. The staff was excellent and very helpful, especially the bartenders. It is a very family friendly resort, but the resort should enforce the "no kids" in the hot tub as we were never able to enjoy it because it was ALWAYS full of kids. The resort is in need of a maintenance and some upgrades outdoor seating cushion and lounges, rooms have outdated technology, and furnishings are in need of upgrades.
