So let me start by saying this was our first time traveling since the Pandemic started and we knew that things would be a little different from our 4 previous trips to the Dominican Republic.  The resorts had been closed for about 8 months and we expected to see some changes and cutbacks.  But booked with Nickelodeon based on the 5-Star rating and tons of activities for our son. That being said our first couple days at Nickelodeon were unimpressive to put it kindly.  The lock on our door didn’t work when we arrived so we couldn’t even leave the room after a long day of travel, the sofa bed wouldn’t close and had to be replaced, the AC unit kept loudly clicking on and off the entire first night and the TV in the bedroom didn't work... (just to name a few). If it wasn’t for the amazing location of our room and the fact that my 6-year-old would have had a total break down, we seriously would have considered checking out and going to Paradisus in Punta Cana (which is our favorite DR resort from previous vacations).  Luckily our concierge Henry and his supervisor Yessy, were very good about correcting all issues quickly and effectively so we were able to enjoy the resort and waterpark with our son.   The only other major complaint we had was the restaurants.  The buffets are served one at a time by staff and even though I prefer that over a regular buffet, it does take a bit longer.  We paid for and were expecting 5-star restaurants and were not super impressed with the food.  We had poor service and waited well over an hour our first 2 nights to get dinner.  Luckily for us...as we were leaving the Italian restaurant the 2nd time, we were stopped by Mr. Felix.  I’m not sure exactly what his official title with the restaurants is but he is EVERYWHERE at ALL TIMES.  He was amazing!!  He was so apologetic that we had had such a bad experience dining and promised to make sure the rest of our week went better.  Not only did he follow up with us every day and stop by and check on us every evening at dinner, but he also helped us in any possible way he could. (Checking on our shuttle home, getting us scheduled to get slimed, etc.) I can’t say enough good things about Felix. You can tell he LOVES his job and truly takes pride in his role at Nickelodeon Resorts.  If it wasn’t for him, I don’t know that we would have had such a great vacation.  If anyone from Charisma Resorts is reading this...  you need to give that man a BONUS, a RAISE, and a PROMOTION!!!   Overall, the resort is nice, the pools and waterpark are great, and the rooms are clean and well maintained.  The ocean waves were a bit rough at times, but the lifeguards are very alert and always on point.  Despite the challenges at the beginning of our trip we would surely go back.  Also, a special shout out to DARIO, our favorite waiter!  He was so professional, attentive, and truly delivered 5-star service.  Hopefully by our next trip, Nickelodeon will have worked out all the kinks and Mr. Felix will be in charge of ALL Customer Service as he should be!!! :)

INTEGRITY CONCERNS - NOT WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY

2 Adults. 3 Children ages 7-11. 7 day stay in March 2021. 1. Be Ready for Timeshare Harassment. Our concierge was simply a timeshare mediator. We agreed to go to a 1 hour session for a free slime session and $30 in credits. We cancelled the night before and he came to our room to insist we attend because he gets rated on how many guests sign up. He said 30 minutes top. We did it. 2 hours of our life. It was entertaining and we went in knowing we would not sign up. We met another couple who did sign up and they got a free steak dinner and all kinds of goodies to go in comparison to our simple slime session. We also learned that their sales rep offered them way better deals than us with 2 weeks hotel free. Hhhhhhhmmmmm......discrimination? $$$?? When I asked the concierge for help with excursions, he told me to go the lobby. Thanks for the help. Concierge did arrange all COVID testing which was nice but that's about it! 2. Food is Amazing This was probably the best part of this resort. We never had a bad meal but didn't love the Asian restaurant. The Italian restaurant and main buffet were the favorites. Food was always hot and great variety for all ages. We also loved the coffee shop and went there a few times each day. Service at the coffee shop was always amazing. The employees working there hardly had hours/days off. 3. Beautiful Resort and Clean The resort was always clean and well maintained. Our room was cleaned each day. There was only 1 day that we had to request a cleaning. Otherwise, they usually came late afternoon while we were at the beach. 4. Service is Below Standard in Most Areas. On the last day, I requested luggage service 2 hours prior to our departure and no one ever showed up. All 5 of us pulled our luggage to the lobby. If you want room service, order at least 1 hour before you are hungry. It takes awhile! There were also times that we had to wait for drinks and silverware for lengthy times. The resort was very quiet the first 4 days we were there and picked up towards the weekend. 5. You = $ I'd say the service is not personalized. You are just an American with $$$. At check in, I requested a price for an upgrade. They stated they were giving us a deal of $75 per night/adult and kids would be free. We upgraded to swim up pad. The water is SOOOOO cold. The kids used it 4-5 times in one week and get this, it closes at 7p!!! WHAT! What a waste of extra money. I really should get my money back for that. I checked the current rates on the website and I only saved a couple hundred $ with the upgrade. Essentially, kids were already free. They weren't cutting me a deal. The agent and concierge also kept asking my husband if he played basketball and trying to butter him up all to spend more money. They could tell I was the one who wanted the upgrade. It totally felt like a car sales process. Super slimy but maybe that just comes with Nick Slime. :( 6. Integrity Concerns Get ready for this.....Trip Advisor is purposely blocked on hotel wifi! This really did it for me as I equate this to a lack of integrity and disgrace for companies like Nickelodeon and Viacom to allow such control. We tried on 3 cell phones and a tablet to access as I wanted to read reviews for the hotel and excursions. Forget it. Totally blocked. Shame on you. Second, NO where on the website will you see that the gym and activity areas are closed. This was extremely frustrating for what I heard multiple times while there that this is the best resort. I could have paid way less for a beach and waterpark. If you have kids over age 8, you will need this gym/activity area. I inquired and was told that it was because of COVID and govt requirements. I get it but when I checked the Dominican govt COVID restrictions those had been lifted. It was completely the resorts call to not open this part of the resort and NOT say anything about it anywhere. Again, shame on you. This is a lack on integrity. 7. Evening Entertainment - What, they have evening entertainment??? If evening activities are important to you, go to Mexico. The swim up pads are closed at 7p as well as the other pool by the beach. My kids that are older found this extremely sad. They only liked 1 evening entertainment which was the trapeze. There were 2 nights with adults only entertainment that started after 10p. We never attended those since the kids in bed usually. There was also a movie night with popcorn except the popcorn machine didn't work and the movie was geared to 5 and under. I am comparing this to a 3 star resort in Mexico that had entertainment every night and these were employees that worked each night with a Michael Jackson night, 80s night, etc. So, have super low expectations with entertainment here! Overall, Nickelodeon has a lot of work to do to get this resort to be truly representative of its' brand. I wish them good luck on the new one in Mexico. We won't be going. Oh and that picture you see in the thumbnail where everyone gets slimed in the waterpark - totally misleading. LOL. You get slimed on a bench in your family group for extra money. I never once saw a slime like this picture!

This was the best vacation ever to say the least! From the check in process, to the beautiful resort grounds, to the amazing food, amazing pools all around, the various activities, to the most immaculate and amazing staff in the world. The Nick resort is hands down the best place we have been to....period. Can't wait to be back!

Took my wife and 3 kids to the Nickelodeon resort for a week and we had an amazing time. Service was top notch where ever we went. Special kudos to our butler Dariel who went out of his way to ensure we had a great stay. From dinner reservations, to setting up a birthday cake for my wife, setting up our personal meet & greet with SpongeBob, and of course scheduling our family sliming session.. thanks Dariel! I will say the pool water temperatures were pretty cold, heard multiple guests complaining as well. And we would have loved to see traditional Dominican food being served more often at the buffet. Overall we had a phenomenal time and cannot wait to return!
