I've stayed in Cozumel about 10 times in about 15 years. I go for the scuba diving which is always above average to very good. This was the first time I stayed at Sunscape Sabor as I usually stay at Allegro or Occidental which are a little farther South down the beach. I came hear because I got a nice deal. I found the rooms to be clean and comfortable, the AC worked well and there was plenty of hot water. And the resort is pretty quiet in the evening. The room was cleaned daily. The resort is located between Dreams resort and Secrets resort and is not an extremely large property. A short walk on the paved beach walk gets you to the House Dive shop located in the Secrets resort. The dive shop picks you up at the Secrets pier which is a short walk down the beach from Sabor. I found the food to be quite acceptable. I ate mostly at the Market restaurant next door which is right on the beach and is a buffet type. There was always fresh fruit and different vegetables, pastas, and prepared meats and cheezes. There are also 2 other "sit down" restaurants there but I prefer buffay type so I usually ate at the Market restaurant. All the employees seemed very friendly and helpful. There's a nice little open bar right on the beach that will make you anything you want but I dislike mixed drinks and pretty much prefer bear and wine and the choices were acceptable. The pool is not too large but it's fine and seems to be kept clean. I'm not one to use pools a lot but the many children at the resort seemed to be enjoying it. The beach area seems nice and is kept clean and seems to be a very nice beach. (I personally dislike sitting on a beach and generally do not). Overall I enjoyed my stay and the resort it is not dissimilar to Allegro or Occidental. (It's just a bit smaller) Sabor and Allegro seem to be a little more "family" oriented. I sort of like that Sabor is a bit smaller. As I have done in the past I generally come to the resort where I get the best "deal" for staying and diving and I will now be also including Sunkist Sabor in my consideration. If you are lookin to stay at 5 star resort with an array of 5 star sit down restaurants this is not it. But if you want a comfortable and good value resort on a nice beach and great diving near by I would recommend Sabor. And the prices can very a lot depending on the season. Keep that in mind.

Our stay at Sunscape Sabor Cozumel was great. The people there were very, very nice. Our room was good. Shower and bed were great. Very pretty resort and very clean. Everyone was so helpful. The food was very good. We dove two days with Dive House that has an office located just up the beach. They were totally awesome!

We would go back for sure. Very convenient for diving operators to pick us up. Staff were always amazing. We loved our room overlooking the ocean.

DO NOT STAY HERE FOR REAL

This place is nothing like advertised online. You cannot get food. They have limited options to start with then will close the restaurants without warning. It takes two hours to get a table and eat because service is so slow. Half of the employees work hard, while the other half stand around and are rude. The resort is small and there is not much to do other than the beach. They do have kayaks and snorkeling gear and a small roped off area to use them, which was nice. I didn’t swim in the pool, but my niece did and she got a rash. The set up of the “sister” hotels is crap. You can’t use anything at them. And if you have kids they really will starve. Same 3 options on every meal - hot dog, hamburger, spaghetti. No fruit or veggies. Rooms are small and outdated. However, housekeeping did best they could. I asked at front desk to have shower drain unclogged and that never happened. Had to shower in standing water everyday. The spa prices are double as listed online. And if you think you might get a perk of resort credit, think again. They break it down into $10 off this, $40 off this - and you have to spend so much it’s more like a 15% coupon. You still have to spend money to use the credit. I ordered a vanilla cake for niece’s bday and ended up getting a chocolate one (she doesn’t like chocolate). No sorry or discount - just oh, we only had chocolate. And of course didn’t tell me this until I picked it up for our little party. I will say, one night manager, Hector, was great. He helped us get a taxi one night when we wanted to get food (because everything was closed without warning). Thanks again Hector! I’m not sure if this place is going under or Hyatt made cuts and nobody has actually paid attention to the impact it has had on it. Also, I never did find the pool they had a picture of online lol. What a scam of a place. Hyatt should be ashamed.
